Found a few things today Craftsman 1/2 HP block grinder, Large X-Acto Set, Small Tap and Die set. The cool part was the Craftsman came with the stand that I was looking for for my Pre Block so I switch them.

Love the Crowntop workstation stand ! Nice find.

2 stops planned for today. The first was a 7am sale that was cancelled without notice due to the owner's allergy to drizzle. That was a wasted drive in the wrong direction.

At the second sale, the seller offered me a beer as soon as I got out of my truck. When I politely told him it was too early for me, he offered me a shot (with whiskey bottle in hand) instead. :wtf:

I'm going back to bed.

Went to an Estate Sale in an old mansion around here. The estate sale pics showed a wooden machinist chest so I figured there would be some good stuff there.

The machinist chest was still there but in medium shape - it looked like it had gotten wet. My plan was to make it into a jewelry chest for my wife but it was too far gone for that.

I did find some stuff though . . .

A Brown and Sharpe 12" steel ruler
A 6" wooden promotional ruler - Patron Transmission Co -CAnal 6 1360
A Promotional Screwdriver
A Williams 3/8" Socket set in steel box - this was tucked away in a corner

Cheer

Jim

CrotalusAtrox--Great looking Craftsman grinder/stand and shop pic

BlueBomber--Simmonds saw in box. Wow.

Just a few sales and only bought one item, which was a Powermatic 15 inch Model 93 scroll saw. Pics 1, 2 and 3

A few months back, I purchased a bulk buy of 1920's era mechanic hand tools. Was going through a small box found in the mix and on one side of a shield looking medal on a chain and writing on one side that looks like I.A. O F.M. June 17, 1899 La Crosse Wis Pic 5 while on other side of medal it says J. H. Gansert Centerton Ohio Pic 6.

I haven't found any connection between the two sides of the medal, but wondered if anyone else might know.

Mike

Got these today, don't know what anything is used for, other than the sockets. Sockets marked only with "chromium vanadian", the two ignition pliers, on marked Krauter, the Bosch Delco wrench and the Aetna wrench, with a die in the center (?). Oh, and a neat old steel rule.

Any info or valuation opinion from members is appreciated. Open to trades if anyone needs any of these for their collections. PM me...thanks.

A few goodies today, but only a few stops; Four were planned and zero TOOs that panned out...

All this post was from the first stop. and cost me $16 total.

there is a SO combo, flashlight (works needed batteries) and metric 1/2" drive sockets fro 18-26 MM (missing the 20). a Craftsman allen Key set, SK Plvmb Billings wrenches

attachment.php

A Co. The collapsible walking stick, and a folding Guitar stand. walking stick will replace my wood stick when I go hunting. I like my wood stick by at 56" long its a pain to have in the rig. this one is near as long full extension and goes down to 27"

attachment.php

This Box was $5 of the cost.

attachment.php

Inside was a lot of leather working tools for tooling the leather.

attachment.php

And a Quick wipe with Murphy's oil soap and it looks pretty good!

attachment.php

And another $5 of the total was this night stand that I've been watching for for SWMBO. all drawers like this... It's a project, but the thing despite its finish is well made. Drawer fronts are all dovetailed.

five at the second stop got some emery cones, an ax cover, and a seat belt retracter.

attachment.php

As well as this case. Its pretty nice, and a good size for a gun case. 12 X 24" and just enough thickness for foam.

attachment.php

Its German made, well made, and was originally for surgical/medical stuff.

attachment.php

It of course didn't have a key, (latches are similar to Samsonite) but I dug into the collection and whadiya know! This one fits, and also works the lock perfectly! I'll have to stop at a locksmith or luggage place and see if I can get a couple of spares.

attachment.php

Last two stops and I got the Utica pliers, and Craftsman Long C condo, for $2, and for $5, Thorsen wrenches and a socket (one is a no name but the beam design was cool) An OLD Ice pick from a ice company, A 40W bulb that fits my close work light, and a wood Yin Yang box.

I hit up a pawn shop today picked up a metric and sae blackhawk wrench sets. Each set is a 11pc and every single one of them is brand new. I payed $40 bucks for both sets out the door. The sizes go 1/4-15/16 and 6mm-16mm. My favorite part is the pouch and wrenches are made in the USA [emoji4]

Outlaw if I lived closer I would double your money on the night stand. I have a dresser that is the exact same color and design and drawer pulls as your night stand. I have had the dresser for 46 years.

The flea was chilly today and the vendors that were there were ready to deal. I ended up with a few nice things.
Craftsman Heritage carry box with tray; Craftsman Heritage socket set 3/8" drive all (U) except for the ratchet; Plomb pliers; a couple of random sockets Williams, Plomb, Penens, Bonney; 3/8" drive Wright speeder; Proto 1/4" drive ratchet and some screwdrivers.

Hit the swaps today, as I am busy tomorrow, did pretty good!

Easco RHFT 1/4" Snap On 1" extension, Mitutoyo magnetic base, unmarked woodie 1/4" spinner, Plomb BDE, Duro DBE set in clip, soldering iron stand, Craftsman brace reamer and Craftsman BE speeder 1/2 with the plastic grips still on it, even has the blue paint! (of course I totally forgot to get a pic of that...)$18.

A homemade AC headlamp ($5) that is going to be the light for this:

Walker Turner 10" bandsaw I picked up last week.

Original paint, badges are pristine $150

Also picked up this vintage French bicycle poster for $5.

It looks like International Association of Machinists union? That's a cool old find there.

3baygarage:

You may have something which fits, as J. H. Gansert might have been the grandfather from Centerton Ohio and possibly attended an International Association of Machinist union event in La Crosse Wisconsin on June 17, 1899.

Mike

A few months back, I purchased a bulk buy of 1920's era mechanic hand tools. Was going through a small box found in the mix and on one side of a shield looking medal on a chain and writing on one side that looks like I.A. O F.M. June 17, 1899 La Crosse Wis Pic 1 while on other side of medal it says J. H. Gansert Centerton Ohio Pic 2.

I haven't found any connection between the two sides of the medal, but wondered if anyone else might know.

great research - I did not notice the 'OF' was a word rather than two letters (no dot between them) - they still use that in their logo today - you might be able to find someone at the union who deals with the history - they have a nice timeline on their site https://www.goiam.org/about/history-of-the-iam/

LTK, i have a Williams wrench just like that one that I purchased from an online auction, just because. I will never have a use for it, but, like you, I had to have it. It currently hangs on the shop wall.

Here are a few of my latest acquisitions.

I stopped by a sale on late Sunday afternoon, since i had a few errands to run. The lady had quite a few rusty tools and odds and ends left, and she was ready to practically give me everything just to get rid of it. Most of the tools and woodworking planes had damage, but i was able to scavenge a few items that can be cleaned up and put back into working order.

image.jpg4_zps6uogu0eb.jpg

A few woodworking planes - $3
The Corsair is in nice shape, the Stanley Sweetheart has a broken piece right where your thumb rests, but I think that the Sweetheart line of planes are well regarded, so I picked it up. Lastly, a little Block plane, which is pretty much an exact copy of a Stanley Handyman plane i pickd up a few weeks ago. With a little TLC, all of these shold be up and running.

image.jpg1_zpsrlrt4r7j.jpg

Coes, Trimo, Williams, Armstrong wrenches - $3
I have never seen any monkey wrenches at a sale, so while i will probably never use them, I figured I couldn't go wrong for 50 cents. I will clean them up and probably replace the wood handles, since they are in pretty rough shape.

image.jpg3_zps0cmvfo8o.jpg

An old Perfection mitre box - $1
I will probably clean it up and replace the wood and see if I can use it. I have never actually used one of these before.

image.jpg5_zpsxul6a162.jpg

I am a sucker for any vintage cast iron home decor, so I snagged this soap holder and coat hook the minute I saw them. $2

image.jpg2_zpsjzsxeup9.jpg

Lastly, these two clamps - free

This shows the good and the bad of going to a sale at the eleventh hour...it has been picked through during the previous few days, but what is left can be had for mere pennies!

Great finds guys. that Union medal, is it silver? it sure is worn. the Eagle is barely visible!

Jpicker: Interesting that the furniture was about 1970. Not a lot of dovetailing being done that late.

Tool_Master: that box is I think one of the first with the oval "50's" logo, (actually started in the late 40's) Usually that style boy has a yellow Long C Craftsman on it. Do the drawers have slides, or just run on angle rails in the box?

Jaw: I'm also a sucker for cast iron decorative stuff like that/

Username, nice find on the two boxes!

Drives, it did come with a motor that was just about as old, but not in as good a shape:

The wiring was suspect, with broken springs on the centrifugal switch:

The square thing at the bottom is the start cap, which is getting replaced while I do a quick rehab on it.

Thanks for the above link.

I sent in the info regarding the medal via the IAM contact process on their website, so hoping they can confirm if La Crosse Wis hosted an IAM event on June 17, 1899.

Outlaw: Can't say on the Union Medal being silver, but it definitely is well worn as it took a magnifying glass to interpret the stamped info and to see some of the design on it.

Chilly morning at the flea. Picked up a 3/8dr Bonney CV breaker to go with ½dr I already had, three DOEs with unfinished gullets (the Cman has one finished), and a Bonney B-shield DOE with no visible forged-in date codes, placing it between 1906 and 1920, I believe.
I also got a claw hammer, a Moravian Tile Works "Mayflower" art tile, a ¼" socket chisel, a 50' Cman wind-up metal tape measure, a Stanley sweetheart screwdriver, and a mixed handful of Craftsman Vanadium and underline DOEs.
Passed up a few interesting oddities, but that just will make next weekend more interesting.

Best of all was the s53, had to swap the guts out of the 52 to get it running.

OutlawMWS: the drawers have slides. Attached is a picture.IMG_0161.JPG

Rebuilt this old drill press last winter. Finally found a floor mount for it for $20

I had lost hope of finding just a base.

Thursday I picked up a 60's-70's era Babco (Japan) vise.
Friday I was lucky enough to grab a stout MAC vise with 6" jaws.
Saturday I bought 3 vises at one yard sale.
A Craftsman (Japan) 3 1/2", a RAE out of Canada and what I think is a Montgomery Ward vise. It has the MW logo but no other markings.
It does have the hardy too.

I put a 3.5" and a 4" Craftsman vise in front of the MAC to show the size of that thing.
