Great haul twertsy,

I especially like that set of Plomb line wrenches with the roll [emoji106] Is the set complete ? Looks like you had one loose in one photo that is perhaps the missing one. If the Plomb tool roll is original I would be interested in seeing a photo of the writing on it, never seen a Plomb roll before.
Unfortunately, the 1-1/16 is Proto LA. Also unfortunate, the pouch is Vlchek.

Nice CL haul this morning.

Pic 2 - Plomb
Pic 3 - Proto LA, Proto and Wright (upper right corner
Pics 4-6 - rest of drawers
Pic 7 - Box it all came in.
Are you planning on fixing up that tool chest? I'd like to find something like that to go with my old metal lathe and new to me table saw

I made a late trip to the flea market, not knowing what to expect there with the ugly rainy weather.

There were a few tool sellers there. Here is what I found for 17 bucks.

Mixture of Cornwell,Napa,Vulcan,Williams Vulcan,Snap On,CAM-RON,Wizard, and some others.

The little cross bar may be for an S-K breaker bar.

The highlight was the K -Mart tin full of sockets. They look like they were in a fire but 5 bucks for all. There is a vintage Snap On swivel socket and 3/4 drive socket, and a Black & Decker flip socket that caught my eye.

Just one sale for me today where I picked up this Skilsaw 77 for $20. Works well and the oil is clean and up to level. Despite the external appearance I don't think it had a hard life.

First, Happy Thanksgiving to all! Hope everyone is enjoying their Holiday. No garage sales to speak of by me, everybody must be wrapped up in the BF madness. Spotted this on a CL ad last night- An SK # 4246 "MiniMaster" SAE Drive set. It was listed late last night for $35 bucks, still in the wrapper. Luckily I was the first to respond, so the nice lady held for it me til I was able to pick it up. :) Anyone have an idea as to mfgr date? I can't seem to find anything online for this specific set.

^Cool lil Craftsman Model Maker hammer. What does the ball peen handle have written?

Dngrmse- I think you deserve a YOU ****! for that nice S-K set. I was thinking 2000's production. Just a guess.

Surprised we are still having garage sales and flea markets this late in the season, but we're having a relatively mild late Autumn, so they continue on.

Last weekend's saves:

Pics 1-2: all for $7
Lots of vintage electronic gear, desk supplies and two boxes of Craftsman power hammer cartridges. Also two vintage plastic-cased Weston test equipment pieces.

Pic 3: all for $10
Lodge melting pot in new condition, new splitting wedge (made by Council USA), a heavy ball peen hammer head and a it's more complete younger brother.

Pics 4-5: all for $6
Two slip-joint pliers (one with angled tip), two auto-kit style adjustable wrenches, Allen wrench, a handful of vintage DOE wrenches, a long-C Craftsman socket, and a weird item - only markings on it are the patent date (1882 and 1885), graduated to 70 mL, has a small valve on it, I believe some medical or lab use but not sure exactly what for.

Some Blue-Point pieces, a Bonney flare nut wrench, a P&C DBE wrench, a single end New Britain tappet wrench. Fairmount pin spanner. Danielson battery pliers.

The sockets are Plomb 55XX series (3/4-inch drive). A 5532 (1”) and a 5536 (1-1/8”). What’s interesting is that they are both from the same series, same drive size, and seemingly the same era, but one has five (5) grooves and the other has two (2). ??

I KNOW nothing about power tools. But I know that Jacobs is synonymous with chucks. Can anybody tell me what vintage this NOS chuck is?

That's a standard Jacobs chuck, and the 3/8-24 thread is the most common for 3/8 drills. It would be a great retrofit for a drill with a keyless or a cheap chuck.

Picked up a Stockton brand chain break and riveter for a buck last Wednesday but it's missing the three (3) drive pins and the replacement prices are more that what it sells for on Amazon.....so I'm having a machinist buddy of mine make them for me.

This was a cl trip I made yesterday with my grandson. 301 mile one way and did a lil sight seeing along the way. I picked 2 anvils, a 9 pounder and a 71 pounder. Also picked 5 vise's . Parker 63-1/2 with hardi cutoff, first gen 645 Wilton, Columbian 804, 506 Craftsman... still has a partial label on the D jaw. It's and early model and barely used if at all. Finally a 500 American in real nice shape and has the pipe jaws! Given that that haven't been made in 55 years that's a good thing...
Total cost of the 16 hour long trip was about 360.00

Nice work on the Anvils! Do we have a "show your anvil thread"? Could use a little more anvil in my life.

GJ: here's the Show your Anvil thread in case you and the other members can't find it and need your anvil fix satisfied. i'm not sure why it's in another section, but it's been there for years and seems to get found by those of us that finds an anvil.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33788&highlight=show+anvil

Twertsy: looks like you better be building that huge shop or MUSEUM soon or you won't have room to move in the one you have now. nice finds as per usual and i love your round display tool board that seems to be filling up.

for those of you that want to see a few tools Twertsy made a youtube video as he walks through his shop and i'll let him tell you where to find the link.

Thanks for all the comments on the Snap On box that I got. Made me feel that I hadn't made a big mistake in the purchase. This really wasn't my first hunt, I'm usually just looking for bargains on hand tools and others things that interest me. I've never paid much attention to tool boxes as I have a couple of Kennedy's that hold what I've got. This one just caught my eye that day as something a little different. After doing some research on the K260, I believe that I got it fairly decent price (maybe just at a medium YOU ****!!! level). ;)

Thanks to all of you that post messages & photos of your finds & great deals, ya'll really open my eyes (and lighten my wallet) on some great tools that I wasn't aware of previously.

Someone had requested that I post some additional photos of the Snap On box, so here you go.

SG: you really can post up the little finds too, but that was an amazing first post and hope you find a spot for it. congrats again.

ALL: so i picked up 80 of these little wood boxes and now i need to make a cabinet or shelving for them. anybody else have these and a great method of storing them? i need to eliminate my FSD (flat surface disease) so bit by bit i'm going to make that happen.

i also picked up another Fein 250 that really is a great tool to own. i already own one, but my kids and BIL need to borrow mine and now i have one to loan them so i don't have to wait until it comes back to use mine. i'm not a fan of loaning tools especially to family, but all my kids own homes and i'd rather see and hear they fixed something themselves than always having to fix it for them.

i just used my fein to cut some 1.5 inch thick rubber mats that i put on my garage floor and it worked like a charm.

I really can't believe the mild weather we're having. It looks like you guys are taking full advantage and finding some great stuff!

Here's my take from last weekend. My favorite piece is the home made drill gauge. There's lots of brands represented here this week. Penens, Wright, Walden, SK, Bonney, Thorsen, Armstrong, Crescent, JP Danielson, Milwaukee Tool and Forge, and a set of Tomahawk DOEs.
Full size image is HERE.

Hey guys I know this isn't a normal post here but I thought since I picked this up at a sale this summer it would fit. Earlier this summer I picked up a piece of bowling alley lane from a local bowling alley being turned into a grocery store. Well this is what I did with it. The lane was 42" wide and really too wide for a one sided bench so I cut it down and used the cut off piece as a shelf over the top help up by bowling pins All wrapped in cherry stained oak.

I think the hard part will be picking a vise or 2 to sit on it :headscrat

Top, I'm assuming that bench is down in a basement? Concrete walls?

Vise selection (in your case...):
  • 1 Paint ball gun
  • 1 paint ball Pellet
  • 1 Blind fold
  • I Assistant to spin you around 2 turns,
  • "Aim" and fire...
  • Selection complete!

Great job on repurposing the bowling alley lane, especially with the upper shelf being supported with the bowling pins.

BTW, will use your vise pic as reference, when someone says I have too many vises!!!

Agreed that bench top is awesome. As a avid bowler I think the pins was a cool touch.
