Are Jori and crew rested and ready?

lol I can't answer all these tough, high powered questions. I'm in for some seared meat, beer and U.S. made tools though

What was it last year, S-K, Wright and Channellock? I bought the S-K set and looking forward to participating again this year.

So here's the official post for Epstein's Day with all the rules/promotions. Hopefully the moderator will put it at the beginning of the thread so everyone is sure to see it.

Rules:

(1) Place your order on July 4th (Tuesday). We go by central time here. We are extending the deadline to get your order in by Friday of that week. (Note: Promotional items are limited, so if you really want a t-shirt, it pays to stay up late and get your order in early.)

(2) In the comments section let us know it's an Epstein's Day order by writing, "Epstein's Day!" or something like that. If you pay with PayPal, you'll have to send us an email ([email protected]) as those orders don't allow for a comment to be attached. Also, if you qualify, be sure to include your shirt size.

Promotions:

- Wright Tool -

All Wright sets will be 5% off. If you buy $75 worth of Wright stuff we're gonna throw in their 2 in 1 screwdriver (#9181)

- SK Tool -

All SK sets will be 5% off. If you buy $100 worth of SK stuff you'll get the specially designed Epstein's Day T-shirt. (We're still working on the design, so I'll post a photo of it when it's available.)

- Norseman -

We're going to offer their new cryogenic drill bit set for $99.95. This is a terrific deal as we've been selling them really well at $140.00 for the last couple months.

We're also offering their 4 pc Step Drill Bit Set for $99.95 as well. Normally sell it for $136.00.

HJE

For orders over $75 we're going to throw in a #90198 USA Barclay bar.

We also reserve the right to throw in some strange and unusual item for anyone that participates.

And like always, thank you guys for making this happen. It's a really big deal for us to have this kind of support from a community like this. Hope everyone has a great Epstein's Day, and also a happy 4th. :)

I know I will be flamed for not using the search function but....what is an Epstein's day? lol

No worries after a few pages the question will come up again.

Here is the original thread for this idea: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=154512

Here's the deal:

1. On July 4th, buy some tools from Harry J. Epstein. Buy a little or buy a lot, but buy something. I thought we could all buy within the same 12-hour window of time, but that might not matter. As long as you place your order on the 4th, you'll be just fine.

2. When you place your order, there will be a box in which you can write comments. At the very least, let them know you are from GJ. If you want to go beyond that and thank them for what they do, that's up to you.

3. Once your tools arrive, share pics of them with us here, in this thread. Don't start another thread about your Epstein's order, let's all just share them here.

That's it. Why are we doing this? Because some of us had the idea that Harry J. Epstein's is a great place. It's an old-fashioned, family-owned business that has a commitment to offering quality USA-made tools at good prices. And, they have excellent customer service; just look on their website for examples of the custom artwork they offer on your tool packages, FOR FREE. It's insane to get that level of care and attention from a company in 2012. Anyway, we want to support them, and Tool God Fedwrench suggested that combining our July 4th celebration of America with supporting a good old American company by buying their American tools would be just swell.

Thanks for your time.

Oh, and here is a link to Epstein's website:

http://www.harryepstein.com/

There is a closeout section and a regular catalog section. To see all the items available, you really need to use the alphabetic tabbed menu on the left-hand side of the screen.

I bought the Imperial and Metric sets, last year. I'm well pleased with them.

I've been to HJE a couple of times when work has had me in Kansas City. The store reminds me of an old time hardware store, with good folks staffing it, It brings back memories. I'll be back next time I'm in town.

I had the chance to stop by Harry J. Epstein a month or two ago passing through Kansas City. It's as neat in person as on their website. Very much the traditional hardware store with all kinds of neat stock on the shelves loose or in boxes. Jori and the counter guys happy to help and lead one to the appropriate items.

It's a company I'm happy to support on Epstein's day!

Same here, my employer is sending me to training at Fort Leavenworth so on my weekends I plan to rent a car and drive down to HJE to check 'em out.

I think it might be time for a road trip! :willy_nil

What kind of deals are offered?

Usually they'll throw something together (by X get free Y), and there is a t-shirt involved. HJE is actually quite competitive on some things, like channel lock pliers. I price checked a few models last night and they under-cut Amazon. That said, they do charge for shipping, so it's a bit of a wash. Still, you can get a lot of very high quality stuff from them, at a cheap price. They probably hate my orders, as I get lots of drill bits for spares.

It's more-so about supporting (primarily) American tool manufactures, and the HJE style of business model.

I thought that was Cripe? And I'm also patiently waiting, BTW.

Cripe has been slowly rolling out socket sets, wrench sets, Torque Wrenches, etc. I check regularly what new listings they put on eBay. I was hoping for some monster roll out, but I know what a PITA it is to build eBay listings.

If there is a 2017 HJE Day, I should be able to put together a list of things.

That's my problem. I've been checking the website. It's hard to find new stuff on their site. I'll have to do the Ebay thing instead.

^ Exactly sanctioned or not.

We'll find out.

Welcome to the Harry J. Epstein Co!

If you have just stumbled upon us in this vast world we call the internet, we aren't just another online retailer. What makes us different? Well...

We've been operating out of the same brick and mortar store in downtown Kansas City since 1933.

We are a family owned tool store that specializes in good quality US made hand tools.
We buy large liquidation deals from many US tool manufacturers, so we have killer prices on what we refer to as "closeouts".

We are a wholesaler as well as a retailer, so if you are in the business of selling tools, we have a special dealer program we'd love to tell you about.

We are a small company that likes to talk to our customers, so if you have any questions feel free to pick up the phone and give us a call (or shoot us an email).

We have a box art program where we custom paint a picture of your choice on your box.

We try to keep things in stock, so typically we can ship in 1 to 2 business days. (We do have items marked "special order" that take longer.)

We've been doing this for a while so we know the merchandise that we sell.

If you have any questions we have people that can answer them.

Mon - Fri: 8 am - 4:30 pm
Saturday: 8:30 am - Noon

Inquiring minds want to know!

Yes, we have been busily working on super special deals for the 2017 Epstein's Day. I still need to confirm a few things but I think I can safely say that:

(1) There will be an Epstein's Day and it will be July 4th.
(2) T-shirts will be involved of course (no design as of yet)
(3) The big news is that: SK has set aside a large number of their 3/8" drive teardrop ratchets that WILL BE available on Epstein's Day.
(4) We will add in our own freebies and other stuff so more on that in the coming week.
(5) We are not rested, but who ever is really.

Whoah! The 90 tooth SK ratchets will be available?? That is a shocker. I sorta regret joining the SK club though now as that was my plan for the 25% off coupon.

Bring it on!

Any pictures of the 90 tooth? I've found very few pictures online, just curious what the dimensions are compared to something like a gearwrench 84 for a dual80 snap on.

For the first time in forever I'm actually in need of a socket set. So, I'm hoping I can score a deal on a 3/8 drive, standard, deep well six point socket set.

Thanks Jori, Couldn't wait I just ordered the SK 12 pc X-frames from HJE yesterday/today. That just means I'll order something else like the teardrop ratchets.

OUTSTANDING!!!!:D

Looking forward to getting one of the new SK 3/8 drive 90 tooth ratchets even if it does have a smooth handle

Job well done to all of those that had a hand in making the 2017 Epstein's Day sticky a reality and good luck in preparations for the big day!!!:bowdown:

Lastly, please let me remind all newcomers to Epstein's Day that's it's not about huge deals, swag, discounts, etc. The intent is to support a small American Business selling American Made Tools. Don't post that Amazon is cheaper and offers free shipping. It's not about that. Here's to a Great 2017 Epstein's Day!!!!

^^^^^ THIS ^^^^^

This event isn't about "Whatca gonna gim'me".
It's about supporting the little guy in a box store world.

At this point, I don't need anything else in my shop, but I always try to buy at least one thing on HJE Day, or more if I can. My dollar added to someone else's dollar, etc, adds up to helping a small US business that still remembers what personal customer service is, remain open.

Politics aside, the phrase "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN" doesn't start with t-shirts, hats, and rallies. It starts in your local community by supporting local businesses like HJE that contribute to the local, state, and federal economies without shipping the profits overseas or paying the investors before paying their debts.

I may not be able to move a molehill on my own, but standing together WE can move mountains.

In previous years this event, and others, here at GJ have caused the creation of extra jobs (temporary and permanent), elevated HJE to new purchasing tiers (reflected by better pricing structures), helped a small manufacturer climb out of a bankruptcy and rebuild with new management, and convinced at least one manufacturer that continuing to invest in US manufacturing was the right business decision.
Who knows what future efforts may bring.

I'm in.
