Nice little Ebay delivery arrived today: a bundle of Blackhawk!

052149ffa77c1d0f966bc9618c43aacc.jpg

$35 delivered, so not a screaming deal. I bought it for the split-grove DBE--the rest will go back on Ebay or offered as trading fodder for more DBEs.

Well, I'll also keep the adjustable to add to that growing collection:

Here's a freebie! A retired Air Force CMSgt I know upgraded his personal stack at home and have me his old one. The Craftsman lower is nothing special, but the top is magnificent.

Even came with a key! I love original color and years of patina on it. Many of the drawers need help. I'll take them out this weekend and see what I can do.

The only thing I can report for the day is my rear bumper found a tree while I was out plowing a new account. Now I will have to build or buy a new off road bumper.

Helped a friend move some stuff from one storage to another yesterday. He gave me a few goodies for helping out. Shelf, grill, oil drain pan, blower, mesquite wood, lighter fluid, stereo stand, plastic tool tray with a few tools and some Gojo.

Already gave the mesquite to my neighbor who is a "master griller". Whenever he cooks a bunch of food he usually brings me a plate. MM good!

Now you'll need to find the matching edition of Machinery's Handbook to fit the drawer. That's always an adventure

That's a mechanic's box, not a machinist's box. that drawer is way bigger than MHB.

MBH come up fairly regularly - I have 6-8 copies (only one dupe)

3bay and Chopper. Based solely on the little drill bit index color matched that hooks on the tabs and it's complete set of Craftsman marked bits, I'm thinking this drill came in this box. There is also an oddly bent piece that I'm wondering may have held the drill in. I'll have to mess with it. It's on the right side in the pic. Haven't found anything with Google yet.

Darn, I couldn't find the thread either but pretty sure it is a drill box. At the time we found some other images online. I just remember it was a very short thread title. I don't think it had Craftsman Tool Box in the title or anything. Can't remember who posted it either :headscrat. Any help out there?

Only thing I got worth mentioning today was this vintage Indestro ratchet... It's okay shape, grease is all clumped up in the gears.

Thanks, fellas! Sorry to hear about your bumper, Bobcat, but better the bumper than the bodywork, eh?!

Traded for this piece today. Makes a nice addition to one of my wrench drawers! I shipped my buddy a bayonet and he shipped me this. Bayonet valued about 30 shipped. Probably steep for me but I really liked it.

Nice trade Topop. I think a tool like that makes for a cool conversation piece!

I went to one estate sale shortly after it opened hoping to miss the craziness, but still waited in line in the cold and rain for an hour while they slowly let a few in at a time. I didn't mind, it wasn't billed as a tool sale, and I knew people were there because the place was jam packed from top to bottom with vintage everything. Toys, games, clothes, albums, and all sorts of collectibles.

I had fun talking to the guys and watching everybody walk out with things that didn't interest me. Special thanks to the lady who came out with a white bra in her hand with a $5 price tag on it, and the guys who bought the old artificial Christmas tree, the Buffalo Bills sweat shirts, and the toy Flintstone Mobile (okay, that looked kind of cool) . My kind of people for saving the tools for us latecomers!

Well, I kept wondering was the waiting worth it. I finally got in, and the first thing I saw when entering the basement tool room (woohoo) :)...was the red socket box. Good thing, it got real real crowded fast. The tools weren't great, just a small hodge podge.

The finds: 1/2" mostly Fleet socket set
2- 1/2" Craftsman RHFT'S
Some Armstrong machinist jacks

Also, a Craftsman chisel, a Western Auto ruler, and some Goo Gone that I've been out of for a while.

The surprise find for the day was a twin "The Master"oil bottle to the one I found over the summer.

Here they both are. Guess I didn't get rid of that first one for a reason. The new find had some ****** fluid, a dead spider and centipede, but is now cleaned up and they look great together!

The best part was I found it hidden back in a basement corner, almost like I found the other hidden in a crevice against a garage wall.

Forgot to add the whole lot was around 40 bucks.

Sure, absolutely online yard sales count. Very nice.

Thanks for the comments guys. No, Jake, no balls with the jacks. I had to think about that one for a minute, lol. They were a bit underpriced at $3 each though from what I see now. I thought they were, and they looked darn cool.

One more bottle pic. I seem to always be most proud of the hidden treasures I find.

22 pages in 27 days! At this rate....

I seem to always be most proud of the hidden treasures I find.
I am the same way. And rightly so! (Don't laugh... oh, eff that, go ahead and laugh if you want..., I think a contest would be fun. Pick a day. Someone picks an obscure vintage tool, but it's not announced until 10 minutes before dawn. Everyone has to look for that particular tool that day. First one who checks in with one wins! Dare I say like an adult scavenger hunt. Problem is we'd all be on our honor not to just go down the basement or out to the shop if it happens to be an obscure tool we already have! :lol_hitti)

Made it to my favorite Early Bird flea market this morning…

20170127_091503_zpsu2xihmji.jpg

The pieces inside the little red case are all Kent Moore special service tools, 1950’s vintage, some of them still wrapped in NOS wax paper. Valve guide installers and reamers, other long and short guides (oil seal maybe), left and right pieces to a puller, and a steering knuckle welch plug remover. I didn’t even notice that the case was an < SK > case completely re-sprayed with red paint until I got home from work.

20170127_091512_zpskegychxj.jpg

The wire points gage and bender tool says "SNAPPY" on it. Never heard of it. Can someone explain? Is that a Mfgr or a brand or what?

The screwdriver is a PLOMB L.A. “4E” 9704. Pre-war, but I have another smaller one, same style and vintage, somewhere.

The 16” lady’s foot pry bar is a Cornwell, marked “19 CORNWELL 5”.

The sliding tee is a 3/8-inch sq drive Herbrand, natural steel, marked ‘HERBRAND MADE IN U.S.A. No. J-21.’

The tire iron is also a wartime Herbrand, marked ‘HERBRAND MADE IN U.S.A. No. 1126.’

Couple more pics:

Nice finds 3Baygarage! I woke up early at 5 AM so am figuring out my yard sale route for today.

Well the day started out crappy. Not many interesting looking sales and as I headed to the last one which advertised "lots of tools" 40 miles from my house I was worried I would strike out.

Get there and "earlybirds" who got there yesterday before the sale started had cleaned out most of the tools.

But this 27 drawer metal cabinet was still there! Don't know the manufacturer, the decal is mostly gone. It has some hardware in it yet.

Also picked up these Kason leveling feet with a 2000 pound rating PER FOOT, a milk crate FULL of casters, Craftsman early -V- 3/8 speed handle, a parts tub and a couple of clamps for tying slide in campers to trucks.

Spent $52 total.

Couple things I have picked up over the last week or so, had to get a new phone/camera so lost a few pics, but oh well...
PIcked up this Proto 1/4 set along with a Cornwell rat for $10 on the Goodwill auction website, but they got me on the shipping ($20) There is a small Starrett ruler and some prewar Williams allen sockets. Also the two tackle boxes for $3.

Also got this 1/4 horse motor, GE 26136 from '29 or so for $10. Should look good under a Delta 4" jointer form the '30's I picked up last year.
