Mike, someone just did a restore on one of those here at GJ. It's red and on a black stand, new thread maybe a week old. The user name slips my mind right now and the foot press is a different brand iirc but looks identical. I'm on my phone or I would link you. If you check my recent posts, it should be there.

Lots of cool finds guys! I just got back and will post shortly...

Mike, I agree its probably for brakes; That's definitely the Raybestos logo style. Do the punches have shoulders for rivets?

Outlawmws:

Didn't get much tooling with the Raybestos, but shot some pics so you can see what came with it.

Thks for your help!!!

Mike

And she liked this one for the Mothers day message on the back. need to get a fair translation as the online translators don't do well with part German part English...

She also got a belt same place I got two, but her real find (I actually found it for her) was this Bear claw necklace. This place had a ton of reloading gear, dies old (not to be trusted) powder a nice progressive Dillon, etc. so pretty sure these were one "dad" got: (Yes I tried to buy the loading gear but not for sale despite thee having a flood, and a lot of humidity damage...)

hey, gang! this may be my 1st posting for this year.
found this machinist chest on local CL thurs night and met the guy this morning.
it was pricey($175) but it was full of quality tools.
he thought it was earlier, but i believe it's about 40s/50s.
on the way to meet him i saw a bottom tool box in a driveway at a yard sale.
on my way home i stopped and it was still there. it was tagged at $20 and had some (junk) tools in it. i grabbed it 'cause it was so cheap.
dunno what it was, dont care. it was 1981. i think it was a monkey wards powercraft:dunno:
i gave it to my neighbor kid. he's 16. he's a good kid and likes to hang around and wrench on stuff.

IMG_5023_zpscywa1qwk.jpg

of course those are only a few of the tools:evil:

You guys are killing it this week! Some awesome hauls.

Bluebolt Cool Craftsman dump cart. Perfect for the crown top thread.

Outlaw the bear claw necklace is pretty wild. No pun intended.

Your Williams ratchet is much later than think. Just industrial finish. Should be from the TRW era, possibly 70's to early 90's roughly. Cant be exact. I have an 80s or 90s catalog somewhere.

Beat- glad you found your way back to the GS thread!

Still haven gotten through my Memorial Day finds yet guys. Had to deal with a minor plumbing issue. No flea for me today. Looks like tomorrow may be a washout too.

That's a great find. If you plan to flip it, beware that it shouldn't have the hole behind the hook. It looks like someone drilled that for a safety pin of some kind. They were fabricated with holes for safety clips, which is a postwar tell. Someone may question that, but Ford wasn't making GPW's after the war. That is clearly a mod. It would bring serious moolah, even with the hole. And if you have a GPW, congrats.

Couldn't resist these two Papco brake and fuel line displays at the flea market this morning, 10$ for both pieces.

Was going to use one as a light air tool holder but unfortunately the slots are about 1/16" too narrow for the air tool fittings. Oh well.

Might just use the wider one to replace that ugly plastic screwdriver rack the PO of my garage installed on the pegboard.

I just picked up this Stanley Bell Systems folding ruler at an ES on the way home from church. In good shape and no broken joints, $2.50 on 50% off day.

It was the only tool gem left surrounded by an ocean of nic naks and basically begged me to rescue it. Besides this is my first yellow one.

Remnants of the original box were in the shed with this.
Has never been used as far as I can tell. The shipping bolts were still in the turntable.
It's almost exactly the one I've been chasing for 15 years or so. Perfect match to occasional tables and a coffee table I have, clear down to the silver accents. I havr come so close to compromising a hundred times... What are the chances of finding a new one?
Five bucks, she insisted I take it for free, I refused, she wouldn't take more.
Also a 1961ish barrel chair (not a 505) that except for surface dirt appears to be unsat upon.
Two bucks.

Everything else was pretty much clutter.
But I did land a Williamson stereo amp and a Williamson receiver. If it's a pair of 36's, it's worth 200 bucks, if it's a pair of 63's maybe 2500 bucks.
I'll know tomorrow when I tear up the 250 pound king size headboard it was hiding in.
I have no interest in it. GJ members get first chance at it.

Called on this gas pump from a CL ad about 10 miles away from me. A decent 70's era Bennett pump. Not a retail sales unit but I think cool and should be a fairly easy resto. Missing the rear face panel and trim so I'll look for a replacement as time goes by. It also came with 4 nozzles, extra rubber covers and one original OPC box. It was a good deal for all and will match well in style to my other Marathon pump from the same era.

Stereo in a headboard? Pictures before you take it apart!

My first buys of the year, got the proto box for 5 bucks, it's in fairly good condition. I don't know anything about older Proto stuff so could someone tell me about how old this box is? The Skilsaw was 10 bucks it's very lightly used and came with 9 other misc. blades. Can anyone tell me about the battery charger? I picked it up for free. Is there any way to test if it works or is it even worth trying to fix it up?

Where were you in the 70's & 80's? That was the thing to do! :pimpflash

Yes, it's that incredibly ugly;
2x12 pine, round with a grinder edges, burnt, stained too dark, copper cabinet drawer hinges, white porcelain tiny pulls, scalloped with a four inch Grinder edges with proud standing rounded top screw plugs.
Crapghastlytastic.

And I looked a little harder at the Williamson. It's something I haven't seen before. It's a single unit that does stereo instead of a double(or the second unit is hidden behind a panel.) Either older or newer, I'm unsure. I know the older ones weren't really stereo, just a splitter. And it's more than just an amp, it's a controller to plug in a tape player and turntable and a tuner. Has 110v plugs on the back. I'll pull it tomorrow.

Watching cartoons, on a tv that you had to get up and turn the knob...

Old chargers like that were VERY basic. I would take the cover off as I would be some bugs made a nest in there. Seems always a mud dauber likes to on the side of the transformer.

After cleaning it up, if all the wiring looks okay, put it back together and clamp it on a spare battery. I would be it works... ;)

Haven't posted in a while, not too may worthwhile sales in the area. A guy I bought a Kalamazoo belt sander and a ShopSmith from dirt cheap last year had another sale Friday as he was moving out of state. Offered me everything in his shed for $50, which I was happy to take. I broke it up into two lots.

Sold lot one Saturday for $100, surprisingly:

WP_20170602_22_52_40_Pro.jpg

Going to keep the second lot, all USA made tools except for two that are German made:

That logo is from the 80's when proto was owned by ingersoll rand. Not terribly old but still a nice box !

CP: did you get a compressor with your SkatBlast cabinet or just the cabinet? it's on my wish list and once you get it hooked up and home would you mind making another post telling me (us) how you like it?

WELL DONE!!

This, and a couple more sockets that I already put away... $22 at a local flea market.

It was really weird. When they opened, I went right to a far off vendor and found all of this for $20 minus the two crowfoot sockets that I paid $2 for later. It was like the universe guided me there...

So... 8 of the 14 3/8" drive metric mid length sockets on my rail have been upgraded to Snap-on.

This is the kind of find that makes me want to hit some estate sales!

Not much for tools today at the flea market. I did spend $4 on this assortment of hardware and the Cornwell puller, and a Walden socket. Hardware appears to 50s NOS stuff no zip code on the packaging, for less then a $1 each I figured WTH.
