Nice score, in the 10 or so years I have been looking for tools around here, I have seen exactly one.
I'm guessing it wasnt on the 3rd floor of a condo ??? LOL

Bought this lot of items for $10. The blacksmith's hammer is a Craftsman "Professional Mechanic's". I'll clean it up and post.

Woke up early this morning knowing there were a couple estate sales about 20 min away that I wanted to check out. Was kind of dreary and everything was wet from the rain last night so I didn't feel like leaving too early. The one I really wanted to go to wasn't supposed to open until 9am and thus far they haven't ever opened early...

Decided to take my dog for his morning walk since I still had time and didn't just want to let him out in the back yard and leave it at that. He loves his morning walks. So I figured better to have good karma than get to the sale an extra 15min earlier than planned and probably end up waiting.

Okay so finally leave, amazingly hit almost every light green which was a good sign... I get to the sale about 10 minutes before 9 and there are a ton of cars and they are already open! AAAHHH!!! This sale they price things cheap and stuff goes quick.

Lots of little hand tools but nothing of real interest. The couple items I was wanting to grab one was gone and the other turned out to be a dud. Only thing I got was a little half-gallon pump sprayer with a nice HD poly tank (yes I checked it worked), a couple CMan chisels & punch, and a little brass brush. :( Talking to the owner's son and he told me since I saw them last before Christmas that their dog died and he was sick for a month! Ack! Poor guy!

Went to the other sale, it opened at 8am and it was probably closer to 10am by now but their prices are always high and I didn't see any pictures of the garage so I didn't have high hopes...

I get there and start walking around the garage... WAY overpriced and everything was well used. Low and behold I see Craftsman bench grinder... I get closer... I see a price tag of only $45 with the home-made stand... I see it is a 3/4 HP!!! I'm grinning from ear to ear, I can't believe my luck! I ripped that price tag off so quick! LOL... Everything is there, nothing cracked or broken, even both the eye shields! They had the other original stone on a table next to it... $6 and it looked like someone dumped oil all over it so I passed... The stone in it right now doesn't look too hot, I have a spare new 8" I can use.

Nothing else in the whole house... but just that grinder alone was worth the trip this morning! The stand is nothing to write home about, looks like a plow disc with some EMT, it's very light weight but I think I can re-purpose it for something else.

in the former Sears on rt6 (if travelling East from Troy, turn in at the third dead skunk).
Yep, pretty much describes the road markings in Bradford County - at least to those of us who live just over the North edge of the border... :willy_nil

Been a long time since I’ve found anything worth posting, but today was a pretty good day at the 2 Estate Sales I found.

Got the Snap On set for $65. Really dirty and was originally gray crinkle finish. I’m hoping to strip the red spray off to return it to a more original look. Unfortunately I doubt I’ll ever find the drawer cover for the top box.

Got the rest of it for $28 total. Can’t believe I found a piece of Craftsman amber!5ed2c4c3c319c0d1c3ff1e013bb6b534.jpg

Wow, Jammer! That's a great haul. We hit an estate sale in Castro Valley, CA today that had plenty of tools from the Plomb/Proto empire. We got quite a few loose tools and a full mixed toolbox. The first picture is everything except the box. The second picture is the box with tools. The third picture is tools from the Plomb empire including some P&C and Proto. The red picture is S-K and Craftsman 1/4" drive sockets. The next is the Craftsman tools. The last two are wrenches unknown to me, a Shelley and a Wakefield.

Hit a sale yesterday on the way home:

$3 for those things (and a word of advise. If there is a shop on site, with any tools, put that in the ad. Seriously, I almost didn't go to this sale as they only had pics of the rather normal furniture in the house. I only went as I had a few moments to kill at the end of the day. If I had gone, I could have gotten a Wissota 1/2 horse. Oh, and also, have the guy working the shop have at least some idea about tools.)
Then hit another this AM:

Snap-on bearing spliter, Proto LA 1 1/16 wrench (already had, if anyone has a good trade...) some nice shop books, shop supplies, Starrett punch, MT1 reamer and a Lufkin mag base. Lots of Harbor Freight there, but that is how it goes sometimes. $34.

Jammer1329: Lovin' that PLVMB body hammer!

Wakefield is antique era. I have a couple Wakefield WIZARD tools (they used the brand name long before Western Auto) posted on four.cycle's thread. You should post it there. I don't think we've seen any wrenches yet. Link here.

A few purchases this week.

First is a 1/2 HP delta grinder. This one is on a walker turner pedestal. The tag says 220v but it’s wired for 110v. I plugged it in and it purrs and the lights and bulbs work too.

The walker turner stand is a little damaged but it’s a very cool stand.
$62

Then I picked up this 6” Rock Island 577 today for $70.
Need to find a swivel base for it but it’s in very clean shape under all the black. And the rust is just slight surface rust. If anyone has a lead on a swivel let me know.

Lufkin Tape in the box. I see Davethorik also brought home a Lufkin in the box. I couldn’t pass up this beauty when the guy said $2.

First of all 3bay, my recent find is nowhere as nice as yours. For $2, YOU ****.

I actually have that same one as yours nos in the box as well. It has a wicked looking hook on the end for sticking in a tree, and it looks like yours just has the typical wire loop of these old winders?

Wow Don, GREAT score!
Thanks, Outlaw. It was a pretty good sale

Did you not buy it? I don't see it in your haul photos. That one has a well placed stamp. They're often haphazard, and sometimes badly botched.

Yeah, I didn't leave it behind. It's in the top of the first picture right above the 11" Fairmount auto wrench.

Besides the Wilton, get the woodworking vise too, and might as well grab that motor that's being used as a wire wheel if it is 1725 RPM, and the huge clamp that is holding it down!

No new sales today, last day for a couple estate sales but I really don't feel like going back because the weather is crummy and there were only a couple things I *kind of* wanted but probably sold in the past couple days anyhow.

Victory! I ended up with #4. I almost missed out, not noticing that a sign up sheet had been posted by the #1 & 2 guys (a rookie mistake). All three guys in front of me were there for the garage and proceeded me into the door at opening. My heart sank when #1 picked up the price tag on the Wilton vise but then leapt when he passed it by. My hand slapped down on it--the price tag showed a $40 asking price. It was a 9300, not a C1, but still...SOLD! I kept my hand on it while I got out my wrenches and started loosening the nuts.

After getting the Wilton of the bench, I cruised around the two car garage and picked up the following for another $20:

Two Osborne No 149 arch leather punches, 7/16" & 1-3/4"
Arco leather punch, 2-1/2"

A bunch of DBEs: Billings, Williams, Indestro

Cool Bemis & Call Co 10" adjustable, made in nearby Springfield, Mass
Plomb WF-37 1/2" x 12" breaker bar

b376e95a81fbb0f1e7864e17b595429d.jpg

Box of extra large clutter pins that I dropped in the middle of the opening scrum and had to rake in handfuls back into the box while guys were stepping all around me. [emoji3]

3d62bb8f71823621c2ea1e3b80f60079.jpg

There were lots of jars of hardware and small part storage shelves. I will probably go back tomorrow before closing and see what I can get for a song.

Dang it, I saw your post too late! I almost did grab it, but kinda forgot about it after unbolting the Wilton. I had Wilton tunnel vision and didn't really scrounge all that hard after that.

After getting home and seeing your post, I recalled that it was a Record woodworking vise. I looked up what they go for on Ebay, my eyes popped open and I raced back over there. Alas, it was already gone and so was the clamp. The motor had no labels on it, so I left it.

But, on the positive side, I bumped into Bobcat, who decided to crawl out of bed and come on out to the sale anyway. He found some nice goodies that I had missed in the initial melee--he'll post his haul soon.

I'll still go back over in the rain tomorrow to see what bargains remain.

Nice Wilton Bomber. Deserving of a You ****!

Thanks, 3bay!

Decent haul today.

One of the DOE wrenches (Barcalo-Buffalo 28S, a WWII jeep wrench) will pay for what I spent and put twice that in my pocket. There’s another WWII jeep wrench in the lot (a BHM Master Quality “28S”), a couple of WWII era Vlchek ignition wrenches (I have only ever seen one other in the wild) with WWII GTMK configurations (that’s 7 years to find 3 of the correct 7 wrenches!), and a Blackhawk 15/16” x 1” double offset DBE wrench with a “-4” (1944) date stamp and cadmium plating residue.

Also among the wrenches are a pair of pressed steel jobbies stamped "INDIAN MOTOCYCLES".

The edger is a Planet Jr. No. 2. If you’re not familiar with Planet Jr., they’re a legendary small farm and garden implement manufacturer going back to at least the 1890’s. They made single-wheel walk-behind cultivators, plows, seeders, drills, hillers, pulverizers, etc. This No. 2 Edger isn’t that old I don't think (I am guessing 1940's or 50’s maybe, but that's just a guess), but the branding is in great condition.

The T-Square is an old Lufkin.

Here're the INDIAN wrenches and the marking on the edger. I don't collect farm tools, but I couldn't leave this behind.

In the LEFT-BEHIND category, a vintage Snap-On TQ-602A torque wrench and a really nice peg leg vise. Like Craptain, I have wanted one forever. I see 3 or 4 pop up every year, always too much. Unlike Craptain, I am still looking. This one was in the tempting range at $85, but he wouldn't budge on that, and I can wait for cheaper.

Nice hauls.
I saw that one but wasn't up to the drive. Nothing interesting near me and I still can't quite get myself motivated to chase.

I stopped by a sale on my way to work and picked up a 5 dollar box of random tools. After junking the Taiwan stuff I was left with some =v= craftsman, sk, p&c, and wright sockets and some misc wrenches. The box is interesting. Marked "js technologies Alpharetta Ga on the lid and the contents list is all NSN numbers. Also interesting are a couple of Peugeot doe wrenches with some kind of weird flank drive.

Yes on the Peugeot wrenches the Surpans lettering is supposedly French for "On Section" referring to the flank drive aspect.

Lugz, does the T-square happen to be marked Cleveland (OH), Saginaw (MI), or neither one?
Neither one, Dave. Just "Lufkin MADE IN U.S.A." Does that mean something in terms of age? There's no model number on it, either. I have a 1942 Lufkin catalog, which I plan to consult later. The business part of the T is a brass plate, if that helps. I don't normally collect carpenters' tools and I know nothing about these. Total impulse buy. See thumbnails.
