I've seen some items when they penny out, they re-start the clearance cycle at 25% off and use a "This Item Only" sticker and scratch out / cut out the barcode on the package. I just wait again till it hits 75% off and buy then.

It was an exceptional weekend for me at the HD. I found the most and the best penny items and some other nice deals.

The Gorilla platform was penny, the hitch adapter and grill igniter and grill cover, all pennies.

The Ryobi rotary hammer drill, marked $70 price checked at $50 and the weed whacker, well, after listening to the nitwit in garden tell me the price is what's on the tag over and over I said, okay and went inside the store to find someone else. Had them look it up on the puter and what do you know, $25.03 and it even had a battery in it! The employee literally said "what the F!!??" LOL

Found one of those trimmers for 25, but did not come with the charger. I have a charger, so no big deal, but curious if the had they charger for yours. I figure it’s in the “Ryobi DNI” bin.

If the Home Depot you purchased from is in an area with a Menards, the 11% rebate match is now up on the HD site. The rebate covers purchases from 4/8/18 to 4/14/18

It does... but even Home Depot trash is hauled off by contracted services and then sorted for salvageable products and sold off/recycled

The products you listed are not at very good prices, you need to wait until they hit a price that ends in .03, then they'll be 75% off and a "good price".

You guys complain when people don't post deals and when a guy posts a .00 ou complain?

.00 starts the cycle could wind up a killer .03 deal or even voodoo price one day

Found one of those trimmers for 25, but did not come with the charger. I have a charger, so no big deal, but curious if the had they charger for yours. I figure it’s in the “Ryobi DNI” bin.

They didn't have one sitting out with it and I didn't ask. I just took my $25 wacker and ran.

Wow! I'm debating whether I want to return my $25 buckets or keep them. They were still a great deal at $25, but I have a feeling that my HD would do the same thing, and put them right back on the floor.

I wouldn’t advise it. I believe clearanced out items show up on the register as a penny when you return them. After that, probably 95+ out of 100 are set aside, and never see the sales floor again.

I think it depends on if the cashier scans it after it is returned, otherwise they just see the price you paid for it. Often it is just them checking to see what department it goes back to, then they see $.01 and then it doesn't go back to the floor.

Found something interesting on the SCO last night. I was scanning a bunch of penny deckmate screws, and then scanned an exterior junction box that was at .03 pricing. I must have scanned the wrong barcode because "please see attendant" popped up and I was stuck. My screen was full of penny boxes so obviously I didn't want the attendant to come over, so on a whim I swiped my HD card and it actually allowed me to pay and complete the transaction (minus the junction box that didn't get scanned). Moral of the story, if anyone sees this error when scanning penny items, you might be able to just pay for anything you've already scanned and try your luck at a regular checkout line.

Those aren't clearance deals. Those are returns/damaged items that are sold off to other stores/auctions or something along those lines. Notice the orange and green stickers on all the HD items.

Gotcha. Something that was mentioned before but unsure if it was here. Sign up for hd pro here and get discount coupons emailed quite often. In the first two days I've gotten two $20 off $200 coupons. After my military and menards discounts i'm at 21% off PLUS that additional $20. Great for bigger ticket items.

OK clueless wonder. I'm at my HD quite often but unfortunately not much to be had. Not sure how anyone can throw anyone deals here as these "deals" are on a store by store basis but keep on talking buddy. It seems too many people do this for a living for some odd reason and spend multiple days a week at HD. To each their own I suppose. I guess jobs are hard to come by these days . With that said I'll be sure to take a pic of every orange sticker I see today

Thank you, I never thought to just try to pay when I get stuck! I had that happen with 3 buckets of penny screws and the attendant just came over and cleared the "please see attendant" and scanned the screws. I was shocked when she didn't say anything and I went on my way. I always have something other than just a penny item, I think that helps if someone is watching!

This has happened to me before, and I think its from scanning a yellow tag instead of the original barcode. Yeah, that happened to me once except it was the attendant trying to figure out where to scan (large item). The yellow clearance tag barcode is not valid unless it's one of those "this item only" tags with a different looking larger barcode. They usually scratch over the original UPC on those items so you don't accidently ring it up at a higher price.

Like McTiger said, those are returns that have been opened / used. More than likely don't work or are missing parts. The orange tag probably has a hand-written note on each one saying what's wrong with them. Either they worked there and those were supposed to go in the trash, or they were bought in bulk (i.e. pallets or even truck loads) and what you see is them being separated out and sold off "as-is"... Most likely the 2nd scenario.

I knew a guy that bought truckloads of returns from Dell... Some things he would part out to sell, other things were still NIB (typically just damaged box).
