I checked it out but didn’t recognize it. Hopefully somebody here will have more information on it. On your offset screwdriver I think WF is Western Forge.
-Don

Western Forge, of course. I obviously wasn't thinking. Most of the Craftsman maker info will be in the AA website. Thanks Don!

Nice finds. I really like the Snap-on ratcheting screwdrivers, actually any Snap-on screwdriver. The drill index is cool too.

Just brought home an estate buy out.
I based my buy price on what I could see & will be digging out the "surprises" this week.
For now, got
Old Snap-on top & middle box on a rough craftsman bottom with an "International" side hanger.
Curious about that. Did International re-brand stuff like Cat re-brands Snap-on?
Craftsman "professional" top & bottom with drawer problems.
On that are a Snap-on side hanger drawers all the way & on the other side a Harbor Freight similar side hanger.
Inside were 2 drawers mostly Snap-on large SAE wrenches & sockets. (sorry about photo quality, was dark in garage & was in a hurry trying to beat the rain)
As usual, very little metric.

Here is one of the "surprises"
A Craftsman 1/4 set all pieces =V= or -V-, darn near perfect except... (& there is always one...)
The 7/32 socket was sliced with a hacksaw to make maybe a wing nut socket?
What's irritating, inside the case was an off brand socket that same size.
Now I will spend an hour going through my singles bucket looking for a =V= 7/32 1/4 drive.
Sigh...

Oh, & while I'm at it.....
This thing was staring at me underneath a pile of bolts.
Cool I thought... A unusual Craftsman -V- 1/2 drive specialty socket.
Can't wait to go home & look it up.
It has numbers on the side, 4457, easy peasy.
Turns out it is the removable shaft that fits into a stud puller...
That I remember tossing into the two 5 gallon buckets of scrap metal I was preemptively sorting out as I unloaded the boxes.
I knew it was an "old stud puller that's missing parts"
No need to keep that, right? :lol_hitti

Here's what it's supposed to look like on ebay:

Dare say we've all been there done that with something that has multiple pieces, 3jakes. It's that efficiency dilemma between not wanting to miss anything but not wanting to stay too long and miss something at the next good stop either! Sometimes followed by forehead self-smacking when you get home and realize, 'I saw that piece'!

My flea market finds from this morning...

attachment.php

I am going to have some fun researching the box, which has all kinds of compartments and a drawer with smaller compartments inside.

To the left of it is a Bonney midget sliding T, an English wire gage (in a style I have not seen before), and a screwdriver I bought just because I do not recognize it and the partially obscured logo is equally beguiling.

Behind those is a Dispatch Rider bag. It looks European to me, and probably not as old as it looks, if you know what I mean. Guessing 70's and Swiss or Belgian or one of those countries with small boutique Armies known for having stylish gear like this made of quality leather and canvas well into the modern era.

More photos of everything later.

Hit an estate sale this morning with my main interest being some aviation related items for my son-in-law. I missed being in the first group allowed in and the items I was after were snapped up. Picked up these two surprises though...anvil/tool stand and a Schuco Piccolo 724 Mercedes 220S.

Looks to be a no15 “Disston U.S.A. Electric” pattern screwdriver, c1930s.
Blade lengths: 2,3,4,5,6,8,10,12”. I have collected one 2” (unmarked, maybe a lookalike), one 4”, two 5”, and one 6”.

Indeed it is, LS! Thanks. It's back in the Metal Rescue bath now, but I took it out long enough to see if the marking was any more legible, and it was, partially. Everything to the right of DISS and ELEC is still marred by box rot, but I was guessing DISSTON. I didn't know they ever sold screwdrivers, though. Did they make them or are they third party? Anyway, since this is something you have several of, consider it yours. It is an 8". Maybe you can restore it. Slight crack in the handle, one rivet or pin in the ferrule is missing and the other is shorn off inside. I'll bring it over the river whenever I make the pilgrimage for the barristers and the Great Duro/Indestro Ell Handle Swap.

I'm glad I grabbed it!

I suspect someone got that International nameplate off a truck and stuck it on their tool box.

Lugz, I have more than a couple of smaller drivers with that same handle. I keep picking them up whenever I see them, but never see larger versions. these are all smaller drivers with maybe 1/8" blades at the most.

Like these? I think they may be sewing machine screwdrivers. I picked them up because of their resemblance to the Disston ones, but I don’t think they are actually the same. The smallest two sizes of the Disstons are both 7/32” blades, and these two are 1/8”.
I believe Disston had the capability to manufacture screwdrivers independently, but I don’t know that they did for sure.
Regarding the handles, the Disston ones resemble handles used on a Stanley tool I’ve seen. No67? They may have copied the design, or I suppose, used the same supplier.

This one cleaned up enough to see the entire marking now. The more I handle and look at this screwdriver, the more impressed I am with it. The "ferrule," such as it is, seems to be either part of the shank (one piece) or designed and assembled with virtually no tolerance for a seam. I have looked at it with a magnifying glass and I can't see a separation. Perhaps LS can comment on that further. It's not quite as old as some of my odd antiques, but it has similar character. But a promise is a promise, LS. :)

LS - Yes, exactly those with subtle size and length differences - Sewing machines might be the answer for their use. They are certainly fairly common if not everywhere.

I have not focussed on the ferrule. If you find it that unusual, perhaps there was a patent covering the design or method of construction. Disston was very active and vigilant concerning the patentable features of its products. DATAMP does list Bitner’s much earlier patent, but it’s unrelated to the shank or ferrule, and the illustration does not resemble these in any way.

Too bad there weren't 5 baby Wiltons to go with them!
Inquiring minds would like to know, why did they have 5 unused Powr Arms?

Actually the engine is NOS the Powr-arms are used, for many years actually. They were used along with custom made plates to rebuild diesel fuel injection pumps. They kept a few more that are still in use, I’ll grab a pick later on when I get to work to show ya.

Someone thought, "Gee, why don't we make two tools out of one by putting a DOE wrench as the T-handle on that T-handle socket wrench?" Not a bad idea. Forged that way. No markings. Guessing for a certain machine, a factory with machines (textile, etc) or possibly printing press operations or something like that. The service opening in the socket is square.

The DBE (1/2" x 9/16") is a Hinsdale HD Chrome Vanadium. I needed it for a set I am working on so I was excited to spot it.

Estate sale in the rain, still a lot of folks slogging through the mud.

Picked through the rusty/dirty piles looking for interesting things or stuff I could use.

Ended up with several useful things and one heavy HUOT "port-o-power" (is that what HUOT called theirs?) that I don't need but it seemed cool, now I have to figure out if it works and has all it's parts (after evicting the rat nests and feathers).

Anyone know these well enough to tell if it has all it's pieces? The HUOT website has some old catalogs but no sign of these hydraulic ram thingies.

Also Ford DBE with large offset, brake spring tool, Lufkin 100ft tape, steering wheel tool, Indestro DBE and DOE, screw extractor set, small clamp, mini screwdriver set, mystery multitool, and a handle for something. Made my pile in an empty steel box that doesn't seem to have any markings.

$28 for everything.

No. That is a Blackhawk brand name for hydraulic body work spreading etc and jacking tools.

I bet that is just some hydraulic stuff that was thrown in a Huot box, no relation.
You would win that bet. :)

We found a couple of estate sales to check out this morning. The one in Hayward seemed more promising so we went there first. I checked out a shed and my wife was going through the items in a toolbox. When I joined her I noticed that the toolbox was a fairly early S-K two drawer box and it wasn’t missing either the tray or the front cover. There were also quite a few interesting tools that we brought home. The first picture is the toolbox, the second is the rest of the tools. The next shot is the Plomb and Proto including my second dual marked wrench in as many weeks! The next four are S-K/Lectrolite, Thorsen, Barcalo and a Snap-on Ferret extension from 1945.

The next sale was in Walnut Creek and wasn’t nearly as productive but the prices were very friendly. The chalk line was Powr-Kraft, the little grease gun turned out to be Blue Point, the feeler was a nice Snap-on go-no go. The old Schroeder tire gage didn’t seem to work, unfortunately, but the well used Crown tape measure worked fine.

I don't know about unusual, but it's either two pieces (shank and ferrule) and super tight, or one piece. I was hoping you would look at your others.

The ferrule is a separate piece.
1. I can slide brush bristles between it and the shank/tang.
2. Disston’s 1932 catalog states it was nickel-plated, whereas the tang is “Disston steel, round; bright finish; hardened and tempered.”
