"...and an anvil," our host says casually. An anvil? AN ANVIL!? It's a Fisher-Norris Eagle Anvil! The oldest anvil maker in the US (Trenton, NJ, baby!) and they also made the most anvils in the US. Coolest part of their history is that a woman, Harriet Fisher, famously ran the entire business for most of its existence, at a time before women could vote, before the ERA, etc. Hers is an amazing story. I will link to a thread with a tiny brass paperweight "H. FISHER" anvil I have (found and reported here last year) that I believe could have been hers. In that thread is a link to an article with a short summary of her amazing life....and an anvil.
EDIT: Actually, I re-posted a photo of Harriet in her office at Fisher-Norris Eagle Anvil Works and the article about her life (if you need some enticement, she drove a car around the world, including some steamers, of course, with an entourage) in a page 2 post in that thread, linked here.
What does it weigh? The smaller ones (25 lbs) are all the rage lately and fetch huge prices.
