I was able to purchase the 6000 CFM whole house fan for $80 at a local store. Discounted down from $320 or so. I'm installing it in the end wall of my workshop so that it will draw air across the shop from windows opened on the far side.

Technically not clearance, but this is almost the clearance price I paid last year for this kit... M12 starter kit with two 3.0 CP batteries and charger for $89. I paid $79 last year on clearance...

https://www.homedepot.com/p/307387577

I wound up selling the M12 charger for $15 to make the total price even lower...

That's what I'm thinking about doing. There are a few available at a store about an hour away so I might go check it out over the weekend. I think it might work as a good fan to vent my workshop.

I have observed first hand a friends basement shop that did this. The fan draws air from all of his open windows and creates a nice gentle breeze across the shop. The extra benefit is it cuts down on the suspended fine dust particles that the dust collector doesn't catch. He also will use an air compressor gun to spray off equipment periodically and the fan draws that dusty air out as well.

Do you need to build some sort of enclosure for the outside part of those fans? Normally, they're installed to blow into an attic, so they're not exposed to rain, snow, etc. How do these get installed as exhaust fans in a garage wall?

I'll try to make things clear from my understanding. If they are designed not to be exposed to things such as ice, rain, etc then wouldn't they **** said material if they are blowing 'into' an attic. Also, if you look at the design of the fans you see they have louvered shutters that automatically open when on. The only way that would work is if they are blowing out, not in. The force from the air opens the shutters.

You might be thinking of a different fan than we have been talking about though.

Even if they are sucking in the air instead of blowing it out, a quick rewire would fix that. A single phase electric motor will run in either direction quite happily, depending upon how the power is running through it.
I was planning on installing the large 30"x30" fan in an old window to vent my workshop.

I'm thinking of the ones that go into a ceiling, to draw into the attic. The louvers are inside the house, the fan motor and blades are in the attic. The blades spin to draw air into the attic, opening the louvers towards the fan blades (in the attic). The louvers aren't designed to be blown open away from the fan.

I'd think that in a wall, you'd need the fan to be indoors, and if you want to blow out (to draw air in through windows), you'd need louvers that can open outward, away from the fan blades.

What am I missing?

You're not alone, I was thinking of the one that goes in the ceiling too when he said whole house fan. I just installed one 2 years ago in my house since the old one's frame had broken in several spots. For $150 I thought I was doing good! I might have to look for one if they still have them at $80 just for a back up!

A lot of the cordless weedwacker/string trimmers were discounted 40-50%.53aab415d77eb56f06df08209a33cb79.jpg

What was the zipcode for this? I saw the ones at my store at $129 from the $199 price. figured I'd ask if they would match your price. I could use a new 5.0Ah battery and I've been wanting to get a dewalt trimmer.

Got one at that price from Oro Valley Az. They had several in stock at that time. Not sure about their zip, but it’s about six or eight miles from me at 85658.

Works ok, but takes a lot of battery. It’s probably being replaced by a flexvolt version.

No, they aren't going to abandon the 20v segment of their users, at least for a string trimmer. They are actually coming out with a model they folds in half.

Thanks for the tip about the ventilation fans. I was able to pick up two today.
The direct drive 4500 cfm one looks great and I have plans for it already. The smaller one make take a bit of modding but I have a good idea of what I can use it for. The smaller one had horrid reviews, but after reading them it appears that people just hate the bluetooth/WiFi aspect of it. After looking at the pdf manual through the HD app, I'm not worried at all about that part. Instead of using my phone to control it, I'll just bypass that and wire up a switch. All in all a great deal, getting two high power fans for $100 instead of the list price of $400.

Can you please post pics of this when you're done?

How do you access computers to review the prices? All the depots near removed the computers from customer access.

The ones near me have one at the pro desk that customer faces

Also, you can usually find one in the doors/windows section, or appliances/counters/flooring

From my experience it depends upon the store. My local store has the pro computers up front at desk for employees only and they always have someone near by guarding them. They have told me I am not allowed to touch them. Its the same at the other sections of the store.
At other stores I've been to they are plainly for customer use and the employees have gladly let me use them.

When I was living in Tampa they were starting to take away the customer access computers. I've moved to Kentucky and toured a bunch of Depots in my new area, they seem to be taking them out too. "refreshed" pro-desks don't have customer access machines, older ones still do.

Most of the associates have hand held devices to access inventory. The old kiosks are obsolete now, so I understand why they are being removed.

Technology marches on, and it would cost money to maintain legacy devices and infrastructure once they decided to go with the hand held devices.

As far as accessing inventory and prices, your cell phone can do that, for any given store. Not sure it can locate stock at HD, but I know it can at Lowe’s.

Yes, the home depot phone app does have the location on it. The price though is the online price, and does not reflect current store sales/clearances.

The real advantage of using the pro desk computers is that it allows you to sort items by price. For example, you go to one and type in 'screws' and it will give you the current in store prices for screws and easily show you the ones that are on heavy clearance or at the penny price. Its an extremely powerful tool for finding those best of the best deals.

Most local stores have now taken away all the customer facing computers when they re-vamped the self checkout and c/s desk. Much harder to find the deals now. :(

Probably not replaceable, but I got this Ryobi drill impact driver combo kit for $70 today. They rang up for $99 like the sticker showed, but someone had placed a $69.99 sticker on the box before I found it so they gave it to me for $70. Plan to give them to my father in law. He doesn't need anything heavy duty so I figured these should work well.5689daddba743a37cc34b68d072b300a.jpg

didn't even notice that. i think the display is the only one they have

The display is still functional. It may be missing the parts (hoses, oil, AC power supply), so you could get it at a greatly reduced price. My display purchase was $10, and all you need is garden hoses to use it, which almost everyone has.

They apparently aren't supposed to be functional. Talked with a Milwaukee rep at 1 store and he showed me where they drill holes through the display. Said all stores are supposed to. Ruined a completely good ryobi air nailer:shocking:

I bought a Ryobi transfer pump display model. Worked fine. However, it was missing the custom extension cord. They sold it to me for $10 off, so 44.07.
