Been to a lot of sales but haven't posted pics in quite a while. Still love reading this thread though. One thing I've noticed and am amazed by. Is the difference in brands of tools and items that are popular in one part of the country but not others. I live in Central WI and some of the brands you guys find, I rarely see around here. Interesting.

So this isn't exactly from a yardsale, but I did have to pay for it. Although I got a great deal.

We are still dealing with my grandfathers estate, and we are at the point where the aunt and uncle have gotten what they want, and everything left belongs to my mom. Well I have been trying to buy this tractor for a while, but she would never come up with a price.

Well today she finally did.

This tractor has been in my family for years and I have tons of memories of riding on it with my grandpa. I always liked it because the seat was offset, so the axle made an awesome passenger seat for a grandson (me).

Anyway, it is a 1940 Farmall B. It needs a good cleaning and new tires. I was fully expecting a struggle to get it going, being a hand crank, something I have never messed with. But all I had to do is drain the sediment bowl of the foul smelling gas, put new fuel in it, and crank her. She fired right up and purred like a kitten. Not bad!

I got some hand tools (some unusual ones as well) and things too, but will have to get a picture tomorrow.
IHC tools are listed in the handbooks, have you got any for the tractor?

In your subsequent post I see a large Stahlwille DOE wrench on the pegboard. It looks lonely.

Don't worry about the Stahlwille, it is in good company with my larger Snap on wrenches.

Got another load from my grandpa's estate. I am very grateful for the things my mom has given/sold me. Today i picked up several books.
Mostly on tractors, but did get the Winchester date book that he carried to every gun show he went to. I also picked up a pretty neat book on old wrenches.

I also found a 24" Ridgid pipe wrench, a Snap on extension and 10mm socket, along with a couple mixed bullets.

Also got a nice heavy log chain and a couple shackles.

And last but not least, a middle buster.

Do you collect screw drivers. You pick up a lot of them. I always enjoy your finds, Jeff.

I always dig through the pocket clip drivers at sales! I don't know why, but I have love for those little screwdrivers. Maybe because as a Millwright, I found them to be the most useful tool I owned.

I would guess it’s for removing a plug. The fact it has a center pin makes me think the plug would likely be threaded on the outside.
Something like this.

Very small haul today (Lugz 2022_44) includes a new pencil holder, an "S" wrench for the Kraeuter Special "K" collection, and an orphan from a vintage "Sherman-Klove" nested auto-kit type set (I'm not even sure I have any others, but someone else may need it).

Lots of driving today for not much to show for it
From an elder-duplex type development 3 MAC item well loved for a buck a piece
Another stop netted the peterson & tape at a buck each.

Then on the left.
Then at the end of the day I almost didn't stop at this fellas place since I always felt his stuff was priced too high
This year not so much.

P1010001.JPG

Buck & a half for the Williams box.... Ok why not?
Wait what's inside?

P1010005.JPG

Also like the plumb 48ouncer with the sawed off handle

P1010002.JPG

Down the street at another house saw (I guess) a carpenter box for a dollar & a compressor for 3 bucks.
No slot in the top for a square.
Leather handles are shot but inside the metal is still presentable.

P1010006.JPGP1010007.JPG

Also yesterday I went on a craigslist buy & paid $800. for this tub...(more on that later)

It will hold a lot of pencils of varying sizes.
Hee hee! Yeah it will. It was made for the Etna Company by Alemite Casting & Mfg Co. Not the Stewart-Warner Alemite of grease gun fame, although the guy who started THAT Alemite, who invented grease gun fittings to make his own job filling scuppers in hot dangerous places easier and safer, worked for Alemite Casting, as a greaser, and named his own company making and selling grease guns after his former employer! You can read and see more in the "Show me your drill bit indices" thread down on the VB.

Everything I can make out in the $800 tub is Snap-on…all clean and not particularly old…
maybe there is a nickel-plated dentist/jeweler vise hiding in the bottom?
Spill it, spill it!

Literally and figuratively! :)

My guess: it's something valuable but modern that I wouldn't know squat about (such as that rack of impact sockets), or "$800" is missing a decimal point, as perhaps @Old Man Roger was implying?

A near tool-less day for me - most of this came from stop #1:

A couple of Curio cabs for the daughters, (that have been after mine from a few weeks ago...)

Y1 Cabs.jpg

Some CF (3/4 full?) and a Dunlap blow torch.

Y1 CF Dulap Torch.jpg

A #12 WagnerWare:

A hand grinder, and the Emergency Oxy was on the free pile - 2 balls of it in there - Apparently 1960's vintage?:

Y1 Oxy hand grinder.jpg

Also from the Free Pile - a Shakespeare 15 trolling motor. I'l test it for being operational then if it all good give it a cleanup and a new prop.

Y1 Shakespear.jpg

Not quire sure what the odd copper cup is for. Made in Mexico, but I doubt that is a "Tell" insides are tinned, the cup has a "1" stamped and the lid an "L" cf_idontknow.gif cents 50, so it came home

another sale: The Starrett box is full of hole gauges. I need to clean and sort.

Y2 cup Y3 Hole gages.jpg

Same Sale - a BMW jack I will use at the back of the tent trailer (never seen a tire jack rated at only 470 lbs...)

Y3 BMW jack.jpg

Last scoring sale 2 small skillets, (one is a Griswold - I need to ID the other)and a plastic Ammo Box.

Y4 Ammo box 2 skillets - grizwold.jpg

And lastly I went back to the last sale for a folding camp mattress, after making a few measurements -this should squeeze into my tent trailer, and it will fit in the car top tent when setup!
