Nice finds on the books Don! I hadn't heard of the Oakland speedway, and I was hot and heavy into racing in the 70's/80's I guess it was a casualty of WWII.

Knocked out a couple more boxes from the Bandit Shed before I go do some hiking. The green toolbox had a 3/4" drive set, mostly Williams, and a few big wrenches. That socket drive plug is a 1", not 3/4". The Kennedy box had a lot of Williams and other tools. The Craftsman 6 point combo wrenches and the Craftsman wrench rolls will be keepers.

More nice finds in the Bandit haul BB!

Only one worth getting into the car for; It was OK. No tools an the camp gear was generally not old enough to interest me but prices were good, so I got a cotton rucksack - Not military, but not MIC either. and the water jug/Sprayer is my first "Factory made" such setup, I'l have t test it out - I suspect it will be a "water waster" with the hose sprayer, and I don't like how the plumbing sticks out the side at the bottom. It needs a right angle fitting...

Ruck Sack:

Ruck Sack.jpg

The Patch and fake dog tags were inside the pack, the Grapple/gaff hook and Strap were on a free pile.

28th OMB is for the ground crews of the 28th USAF bomber wing stationed in North Dakota

free.jpg

The tank I'm guessing is 2 gallons ( "2" molded into the bottom), and it has a boss with 2 brass threaded inserts under the fill spout/pump assembly. for mounting something - I'll see if the sprayer was motded fot fine spray low flow... If not I'l "retool" and get something better sorted out.

That "W" is sort of odd/off and it has a "water drop" under:

A photo of the Bandit Shed from Thursday. The family is doing a get together there this weekend so I cleaned up around it as best as I can. I didn't measure it but it's about 12 x 20 plus the lean to on the left. I'll save the roof tin if possible and any good wood. The bottom is all rotted out, the missing siding I pulled off by hand.

Wow! I ignore this thread for a week and there's tons of suckage to be seen.

@Jim_No_Garage - you found curbside queens with those Cerwin-Vegas! I'm surprised more people didn't notice them.

@Outlawmws - the old cast iron pans are catnip to me. I've bought tons of it and still only use like three of them.

@jb books - the block grinder.

@Raineman - the Little Giant and gravity chairs.

@duddly - extra suckage for the stairlift for Mom. You showed true garage sale spirit with that pick!

@bluebolt - extra suckage. Your "Will work for Junk" scheme really paid off. I'm totally jealous.

Nothing great...
But I haven't been to a Garage Sale for quite some time.

Ran an errand with the Dogs and saw a Garage Sale!
Yea!
Kinda late (I don't get up at Dawn for these things....)

Found two ole drills.
Hey, a Milwaukee Magnum and 1/2" Dewalt

Dirty
Grimy
They both Worked for a living, but despite the grunge and grime, maybe not run unreasonably Hard.

I seemed to have really Pissed off a Guy who was a mere seconds behind me.
Oh well..... :ROFLMAO:

Hey, a Milwaukee Magnum and 1/2" Dewalt
is that really a $2 on there? Well done. I passed up a near new one today at $45, since I have more than enough drills right now, but did grab the goodies below off a $1 shelf.

L-R, barrel hoop driver, chisel, unknown end nippers, 10mm Craftsman ignition wrench, 2x MKE 1-1/8 self feed bits, Craftsman battery pliers with seriously 20 layers of tape wrapped around the handles, a Craftsman by Parker close quarters hacksaw, and a Craftsman all steel chisel up top.

Two others were no shows, or opened way too late for their advertised times.

Just the other day, my wife requested a drill and a set of bits for the restaurant she manages.
I just hated to have to give up one of my "Good" ones.....
So, most likely the Dewalt will have a new job in the restaurant biz.

On the other hand.....
I may have had difficulty leaving behind that near-new drill that you found for $45

If it's a Vintage Power Tool, USA made, in Near New condition, I would have trouble leaving it behind
.....I don't think that it's happened yet :ROFLMAO:

19CC7C1A-495A-44FA-BBE9-C5BDAAC21357.jpegThe best $.50 item from this morning flea mkt. Many of you will recognize this JC Penny ratchet. I made use of my GJ education and realized it was SK.
I recently received a rebuild kit from SK because I had a broken retainer clip in a much lesser quality ratchet. Took that assembly and installed it here. One of the nicest ratchets I own. 986A3F6C-E1C2-4502-9055-6AC38012A0DE.jpeg

A Stillson 14 and a 10 marked W. Germany. Is the Stillson supposed to have a handle or a knob? There's threads on the bottom.

IMG20230506120540.jpg

Mystery needle nose and a Craftsman Pro 9/16 combo. 3 bucks. They were in a pile of Craftsman RPs with outrageous prices so that's all I got.

IMG20230506120554.jpg

A 5500 or 6500 box. 7 bucks. The bottoms rough and missing the tote. I thought It was a match for another box I have but it isn't.

IMG20230506120546.jpg

A classic cookbook and Minnetonka slippers. 6 bucks. The suede needs spot cleaning and there's almost no wear on the soles. I'll be rocking deadmans slippers when mine finally give up the ghost.

I did do some research and found the company that makes/sells the wash station tank:

GOSPOUT 2.0 GALLON PORTABLE WATER TANK

I paid $15 for everything, so I'm not unhappy!

I also cleaned it out (it was spotless but just because) and tested it It does have a "center" setting that works very similar to my modified shower heads I use for the ones I build. So I'm happy with it. Pump up is easy and fast, and yes, confirmed its a 2 gallon capacity. You cannot heat it with a camp fire or stove, but if I needed hot water I can pout half out, boil that, and add it back in. I've done that numerous times when in a rush.

Capacity should be OK - I used my 1 gallon setup on the last Colemen camping trip, and as long as you don't go nuts, it lasted the whole trip with no refill.

I did find out the spray gun has a "Park" position for use, but you really don't want it running constantly, but like my 1 gal SS Fire extinguisher you can lock the gun open, and use the mail "safety valve" for on/off:

Those magnums were the best before battery drills took over. they still are if power is handy.
Yes indeed.
Love ole Milwaukee power tools (y)
Both drills cleaned up quite decently

drills2.jpg
Dewalt needed a new power cord.
I found this so-called repair (what a mess) under wraps and wraps of electrical tape :ROFLMAO:

I have several different sizes of them, I don’t use them enough to justify the cost. 3/8, 1/2, the D, the Hole Hawg, right angle, etc.
Hey, if the shoe fits! And every 50's/60's kitchen had that cook book. ours still does,...

I have three different versions, 50s, 70s, and 90s. Fun to see the recipes change over time, for the good and the bad.

Oregon is... weird. And the further you get into the countryside, the weirder it gets.

OR the closer to downtown Portland??? Inquiring minds and all that.
** Boy aint that the truth...I'm glad I live in the suburbs but on the edge of rural**

@mikeinri I was thinking the same thing. @Smokeshow69 @Old Radar or any other regular members, thoughts? Is this the correct thread or is there another thread where discussion of buying and selling garage sale type items more appropriate. Perhaps a new thread? For full disclosure, while I just plain enjoy seeing, sharing and discussing what others are finding in garage sales/estate sales, I also use it as sort of an accounting record of what I acquired and how much I spent.
** This is kinda correct for this thread, kinda not. An occasional comment here and there isnt an issue but we also don't want a full on thread derailment. Plus this comes up every year on this thread. I would suggest maybe starting your own thread so you and others can have a more permanent record of sales techniques, tips, etc :)... I think everyone would appreciate that, especially the newer members.

First attempt at suckage.

Picked up a pickup bed of stuff but here’s the better stuff. A ton of rusted vintage tools from IH, Ford, Deere, Studebaker and Nash. Four cream cans and four big crocks. A bunch of galvanized buckets and wash basins. Only one little implement oiler so I was kinda bummed about that. Two fire extinguishers that I haven’t ever seen before. $250 for the whole lot, farmer was just happy to have it gone.

**Nice Mobil Can!**

As a Garage Sale Host Emeritus, I'll jump in here while Smoke is busy at work. This statement could easily be construed as Solicitation. Solicitation is illegal in most states and definitely frowned upon in this thread. Consider yourself accused, tried, convicted and sentenced to read (apparently for the first time...) Post #1, The Rules of the Thread.
Next Case.

"As a Garage Sale Host Emeritus, I'll jump in here while Smoke is busy at work."

Your honor, assumes facts not in evidence!
** Ha Ha, he's actually right. In between my new job and my sons recent medical issues I've been busier than a 1 arm paper hanger. Hopefully things will slow down for me this summer a bit :) **
Honestly don’t remember. I know I got it in one of my picks this year, can’t remember if I posted it or not. Sometimes I lose track. I don’t always post everything I get. I should, but I don’t.

Not to sound sore or anything, but when a $100 Snap on double stack doesn’t warrant some cred, I just shut down. Happens every year for a good pick and I go dark, get over it, and come back.

No big deal. Thats not why we do it. Just thought I’d post it because you mentioned the tool.

Agreed. The one when I mentioned it had a couple of things that were amazing "for me" at the price I paid (like the camera lens @ 10% of market value) but the Proto LA set got the "*****", even though I will probably sell them. Just seems to come and go...I also end up posting off and on for the same reasons.
** I can appreciate and commiserate with both Raineman and Cruzan80. I've posted rippin deals or rare finds here before that I was over the moon about and it's been crickets. Then some dude posts a single wrench or a jerry can or other item I would overlook in a heartbeat and the thread goes wild. It's all part of the game my friend. If you just buy what suits you and dont buy for what others think you will be doing great at the end of the day. And I'm not saying you guys where out of line in your frustrations. I've been there many times. Thats all part of the thrill of the hunt!**

I got "hired" to clean out and demolish a small shop, my pay is I get to keep whatever I find. So here's some photo's!
Major suckage here!

28th OMS would be the Organizational Maintenance Squadron, the flight mechanics who preflight the airplane, service fuel, hydraulics, oxygen, tires and many other jobs. In the old nuclear alert days the bomber bases normally had KC-135 tankers on alert with the bombers. When Strategic Command was dissolved around 1992 and nuclear alert went away there was a complete reorganization of the Air Force and the flight line mechanics came under the respective flying Squadron. In 2002 it was reorganized again and the flight line mechanics went under new Aircraft Maintenance Squadrons. As a retired KC-135 and B-52 crew chief from 1981 to 2007, I went through all of these changes.

Picked up an older Remington Power Hammer with shots and fasteners, an old drill bit set, couple small clamps and 30" metal star. The star will be cleaned and painted red to hang on the side of our house. Also an auto type clear dice cigarette lighter.1683425464728.jpeg1683425287042.jpeg1683425251026.jpeg

I’m not too familiar with Starrett but some center finders, spring punch, depth gauge and feeler gauge along with some other pieces.

That's a big number, but then again, that's a lot of Snap-on and Starrett for that price! I'll say it-you ****!

Hit up the flea market this morning. The air hammer, combination square, and bolt cutters are tools I’ve been meaning to buy, but didn’t want to spend new tool money for these.

First lot has a pair of bolt cutters, Crescent 13/16” wrench, Fuller Japan 17mm/19mm DOE, BluePoint Supreme 5/8” 3/4” DOE, Mac CW16 1/2” wrench, and a Hanson numbered drill index that is missing lots of the bits.
0A6EF79E-D27F-4F03-94FC-7A201332916D.jpeg

Second one I paid too much for I think, but got some decent goodies for the flea market. Snap-On 3/8” FXW4 and FXW6 extensions, Blackhawk 9749 1/4” breaker bar, Mac 7/16” CL142 wrench, Snap-On 13mm OEXM13 wrench, Snap-On MV5 1/4” tee handle, and Wright 2400 1/4” round head ratchet with custom welded extended handle.
F8E30CFA-C9C2-451F-A9DF-399976A4EE2B.jpeg

Last one I got an Central Pneumatic air hammer, Wright 1” 1132 Combo wrench, and a Stanley combination square.

Caught one sale yesterday, estate of an angler, archer, motorcyclist, car-guy--a small place but well-packed. A Craftsman 3/8" speeder, -V- series, a nice tire gage made in USA and a Dixon adjustable frame fret saw, Marked $2.00 each but she took a five when I offered $10 since they were short of singles.
