Hello Garage Journal! I Just purchased my first home in Northport, Florida. One of the requirements I gave to my Realtor was the home had to at least have a three car garage. After a few months of searching we found the perfect one. I actually purchased the home while I was over seas and went solely off pictures and the inspections. I work as a Marine Engineer for the department of the Navy so I travel ALOT! I just moved in this week and starting with an empty canvas. Here are some pictures below. Any ideas, comments, info would be appreciated. After viewing this site for so long I am excited to join the community and share my garage with you all!

My first purchase was this Snap-On three bay box with side cab, hutch, and stainless steel top. Got this off CL for $2800

I have an IR 60 gallon two stage compressor on the way and should arrive later this week. I will post pictures when it arrives.

I plan to put a lift in the second bay, still trying to see if we can fit a two post. The ceiling is only 101" so i'm going to look at placing the posts between the ceiling joists if I can and cut out the drywall. otherwise might have to look at a four post with jacks.

I plan to rip out the installed wooden workbench in the corner and put in two metal workbenches next to fill in that space. This will allow for storage below the bench as well.

I will keep you posted with new updates.

Just got the sub panel finished yesterday. One 50amp, one 30amp, one 30amp in the corner for my compressor and ran another 20amp in the ceiling for the future lift.

Just got in my IR 2 stage 5hp 60 gallon compressor! Haven't had the chance to mount it or wire it up. I have a question for you guys though. are you guys mounting compressors on rubber between the feet and the concrete? i was going to drill out the concrete and put in insets to bolt it down. any suggestions?

Nice additions! What are the measurements of the garage? I like how deep it looks with the car parked.

That's an awesome deal on that tool box. Wish I could find one of those for that price.

Got the compressor mounted down and piped. Two stations installed. One with a regulator and filter/dryer. The other is piped to the other stations in the garage to hose reels mounted on the wall. Wired up to the new sub panel with a 30amp breaker. Used IR all season oil. I was a little upset spending $1400 on a new compressor and they couldn't even give you a quart of oil.

I will post some better photos when I finish up. These were just taken quick with my I-Phone last night. Let let know what you all think of the progress so far! Open to ideas to make this garage better!

Garage looks good! Nice toys, too. I just cut down the pallet mine came on and added 4"X4"X1" reinforced rubber pads under the compressor feet and bolted them together. hasn't moved in 10 years and the extra height makes it easier to drain the water valve. Pardon the messy pic. My compressor sits in a closet off my garage with the water heater and softener, not to mention some "junk" storage.

Don't get your nose jerked out of joint over the PVC air lines, copper would have been better, and don't forget to drain the air tank. I put a 90 on the drain and got it out from under the tank for convience in draining. In Florida you are going to get a lot of comdensation, put a hose on it to drain it in a bucket to limit the mess on the floor. I raised mine up about 6" with 2"X2" tubing anchored to the floor. Your progress looks good and love the SO box.

Looks nice, but with all the $$$ you are putting in it get rid of those PVC airlines. I used to use PVC for airlines. Then bumped something into one very gently one day....BANG. No injury, but the bits and pieces could have easily removed an eye if I was hit.

I also noticed a lot less water in my lines when I went to copper.

Nice cabinets! Are those the NewAge/Coleman Bold or Pro setup? I have about 8 Pro upper cabinets waiting to be installed and am waiting on the base cabinets and lockers to go on sale before getting those someday...

TAftonomos, What was the cost to run copper? I put in the PVC piping for under $50.00 Everything is run in the overhead so I don't see an issue with punctured lines and with a rated 200psi working pressure I cannot see the lines bursting from the air pressure alone, (which a lot of people seem to think) When any kind of pipe is rated there is a generous safety factor accounted for when they give you the WP of the pipe. I think eventually I will convert but for now this is working fine.

TheWhiteMamba, they are cabinets from Lowes. I do not know the company who makes they. They came in a set. One wall cabinet, locker and floor cabinet. For the three piece kit they were $420. Good quality welded steel. Can't complain with what others are charging for similar storage systems. All cabinets are lockable and the drawers in the bottom have ball bearing rollers.

I have Free Flow RD tiles wall to wall and I have no issue with clacking. But, I do a pretty good job of keeping the floor underneath clear of any debris. I think the clacking happens when dirt and debris becomes lodged between the floor and the footprint of the tiles. If you are anticipating a lot of dirt being tracked into your garage, you may experience clacking. From what I have seen of your space, you seem like a very neat and tidy guy so I think you'd be a wonderful "candidate" for a RaceDeck floor system.

Those cabinets look great in there, especially combined with the massive tool box.

And yes Race Deck flooring in your space would take it to the next level. I purchased directly from Racedeck.com Make sure that you mention that you a member on this board. Their customer service is top notch, as is their product, you won't be disappointed with either.

And the noise that some people experience is just loose gravel that has wedged under the foot print of a tile, like Rick mentioned.
