Thanks Jim...I sure have enjoyed the building and spend a lot of time out there. It's about twice the size of my house too...somebody has their priorities straight over here:)

FYI...I have another time lapse video up on YouTube of the garage door install...search "Stoneburner Construction Garage Door Time Lapse" and it should be the only result.

I don't think I've ever mentioned that I bought all 8 brand new insulated windows for this build for $285 :). There was an listing on Craigslist in Woodstock, Va. A window dealer had a storage unit full and was wanting to sell them all to stop renting the unit. I even bought 4 sample size windows for tree houses/hunting stands for $10 a piece. I save money where I can...because they're aren't too many places you can. For instance id like to move the telephone pole down the hill 50 feet and put the electric underground to the shop and house. The telephone company owns the pole and quoted $2,400 just to place a new pole. The power company wants $5,500 to do the rest...but will pay half of the cost due to the added service. Not to mention about $2,000 for wire/lights that I have planned inside. So...that's why I'm putting off the electrical for now. One temporary option would be to run power from the house underground and wire the shop and move the pole on down the road. But the house really needs upgraded wiring as well...too many projects...not enough time and $$$.

There is another building on the backside of my house that wasn't treated at all and went 55-60 years without needing replaced. Water does splash up, but once it's sealed, it will slow down the process. The wood is actually stained darker from dirt that splashed up on it. I pressure washed the front of the shop before I sealed it to remove the dirt stain but it was pretty stubborn. I knew it going in and it was worth it to me. I will likely retreat the lower portion with clear coat annually...the full shop every 5 years or so. Longterm...if it's a problem, I may do a metal "wainscoting" to match the roof on the lowest 4'. It will likely not need to happen in my lifetime. So...to answer the question...not too much :)

My Dad and Mom came over yesterday and helped me get a lot of clear coating done. Finished up the south side, completed the lower half of the east, and the upper third of the north gable end. Dad volunteered to do the high work...no arguments from me.

...and with some last minute help before the cold air gets here...the clear coat is DONE!!! Everything takes about twice as long as I plan for!

Some stuff for the walls...

It's pretty cluttered...time to organize. Still planning to run electric Spring/Summer. No time right now for extra projects.

I still come back to this thread for inspiration. Love that garage.

For some reason I cant see your latest pics (red X). Did you post them differently?

Anything you think you'd have done different in your construction at this point in your enjoyment?

...this is one of my favorite buildings on here, very nice job overall; love the roof color and the pine siding, it should outlast you.
...did you ever consider putting a door to your attic in the gable area?,...would be a good way to get larger items up there with a winch/pulley set-up; and would look rite with this building style.
...like your signs, Honda and street rod.

Good deal...I need to get the bike running again. Sat all winter. I plan to sell it then. It had crossed my mind to put a gable door, but I haven't needed one at this point and don't plan to put too large of items up there. The only thing I'd do differently so far is put tongue and groove subfloor upstairs rather than the t&g chipboard. It flexes more than I like. I think it's safe, just don't like the feel of it.

It's been a long time since I've posted...electric service is in...water line to hydrant is in. Very basic lights and outlets right now, but will have it fully lit and wired by spring I'm hoping. I love spending time out there and making improvements!

After 2 feet of snow and cold last weekend, looking forward to 60+ degree weekend to get some wire and lights run.

I've thoroughly enjoyed working on my electrical. It's not rocket science but takes time. It's my first time wiring a building. 3800 Lumen LED lights.

If I did it over I definitely would've taken on the extra debt to install electric before my shop was full of clutter. On the bright side, I will have my shop completely paid off in a couple weeks [emoji106]!!

Thanks[emoji106]. I hadn't posted for a long time so I think I got bumped to the top of the list. I'm staying busy working on electric now. Getting a lot more done with good lighting now.

Beautiful Barn! Have you done anything to finish the upstairs loft? If not leep in mind there is a LOT of storage behind those kneewalls. I built my 26 x 28 garage in '96 with loft trusses. I built storage cabinets into all of the kneewalls. Plywood doors allow access. i also built in storage shelves and bookcases into some of them. Insulate the roof and add floors and you will have tons of out of the way storage up there.

I have 6 metal storage racks in the main area now. I do use the knee space to store as well and will likely build some shelves out there once I get my electric finished. I've been crawling out there running wire lately. Glad you like it[emoji106]
