30'X50' pole barn picture request...

So my plans are to build a pole barn in the spring. Initially I was thinking a 40'X60'. I looked at prices, and now have set my eyes closer to a 30'X50'.

Really for my needs this should be more than adequate. All I want the pole barn for is to store maybe two cars, a lawn more, a small 4x8 trailer, and a 4 wheeler and have a little room for small projects.

I want to see pics of your 30'X50' pole barn to see what all other people can fit in it, and make sure this will fit my needs. Honestly if this is more than enough, I may even consider slightly smaller so its more affordable.

Please let me see what you have.

Thank you for posting. I'd really like to see some pics with stuff in the pole barn to give me some perspective on size (which is hard to do when the pole barn pics are empty like yours).

I would love to go bigger, however my $15,000 budget is already going to be very tight just doing a 30X50.

I can get the kit from Menards for around $10,000. I figure I'll have $5,000 easy in concrete, insulation, electrical and plumbing. In fact, I may end up being forced to go smaller to stay within my budget.

Don't bother with a kit. National Barn does a 30x50x10 for $9,000..and that is turn key built by them on your site. PM me if you want more info..I am using them right now.

One is used for my motorcycle workshop, one for general work and parking of motorcycles, lawn equipment and general stuff. The last room is dedicated to my 67 Firebird. I decided I wanted my own office plus a little "more space" so I removed the original roof, threw up a bunch of I-joist and topped it with a gambrel roof for a nice open second floor.

I really like it!

Sounds like what I did. I originally was looking at a 28x56 and ended up with a 24x48. Garage, though. Original reason was a finite amount of money, but the 24 wide turned out to be for the best for other reasons as well. Still, I wouldn't have minded if I'd had the money to have it 70 long. Probably will eventually stretch it to 60, but that's in the future.

Well I called the company, and spent a bit of time on the phone with them. It would seem you are likely very close to one of their distribution centers and this is why you had the cheap price. That and the codes between the two states are different. Mine is further away and the code requires a little sturdier of a building (so more materials are involved).

At any rate, even with having to pay the fuel sur-charge, and the extra for the stronger frame, and I added a garage style opening door that is double wide compared to the sliding door you would find on a barn, my total built price was $10,600. That's still a better deal than I could build it for otherwise, and I will likely go with it.

It makes me a little un-easy still as I have a $15k budget and with only $4.5k left, I still have to concrete the floor, excavate the site, install plumbing and electrical, and I wanted to spray foam insulate it. I find it still unlikely that I will be able to get this done in my budget

I built a larger building and it involved a retaining wall and pretty significant excavation. I spent $10 per square foot for an erected empty building, no floor, electric, insulation or plumbing.

I got the box, will work on the infrastructure inside it when the benjamins allow!

Im 4in my 40s... I haven't had a working accessory building in the 20 years I have lived here. If my building has to be just a storage shed for a year or 3 before I can get to those things, that's what it will be. The way the rules and requirements change... do whatever you gotta do to get the biggest space you can afford. Don't cut down the space. You could do 1/2 or 1/3 of the floor at a shot. You can do insulation after the fact.

Here is my 40x48 with 12 foot wings. I love the wings. Cheapest storage space there is. Overall 64x48'.

I have a little crawler tractor and my wheel tractor is chained up all winter. The wings graveled and are great places to store the tractors.

I also utilize wings for firewood storage.

I bought my garage kit from Menards. It was sub 8K. Cost me another 12.5K to have it built, concrete included. My cost overruns were about $200. I did my own electrical, using equipment bought mostly with Menards rebate checks from buying the garage from them. Right now, I have about 22K into it and it's a 24x48. 22K was my limit to have it built, so I'm doing pretty well.

I seriously doubt you'll have enough in 15K.

Ok here is how it went:

Old barn:

Remove roof:

Stud the walls:

I wanted a bit extra height so I raised and capped the top plate:

Ran a temporary beam across the length:

Add a couple of dozen I-joist:

Lay down 3/4" flooring:

Throw up some HD trusses:

Roof it:

Plenty of room for more fun:

Still a work in progress!

In construction and or renovations the final cost is almost always higher than planned. When estimating cost I would always include 10-20% as a fudge factor.

In your case, you can just go forward and build in phases as you money allows. Though slower than a turn key job. It will get you where you want to be.

Would a dirt floor really be that bad for a year or two when you have a roof over head?

Here is a link to my shop build, a 30x32 addition to a 14x32 shed for a total of 32x46. I wouldn't us this design starting from scratch, but it has worked well for me.
