...we had one this year and it turned out decent. The magic word is jewelry...we been estate sale shoppers for years and SWMBO has pounds and pounds of the stuff....we have a reputation of having it and they come.....and they buy some of the other stuff too....

When we built our house and moved in we had a massive sale. My wife made 800 bucks selling kids clothes. That was 10 yrs ago, and to this day I couldnt believe how much she made.No jewelry here...maybe kids clothes will be the gimmick to get them in??

That's a pretty good haul today on a sale, 10 years ago that's crazy.
Once everything got set I think it surprised some family members how many clothes there are. But accumulated over 7 years and then attempting to dispose over 7 days of setup, sell and then donate the leftovers....it makes a big pile
The UP's Big Boy 4014 steam train rolled thru today, will see if i can get the sub 1 min video I took posted here
We saw it in Chicago on it's inaugural tour, my kids saw it today over by @82355 neck of the woods at a stop in Columbus, NE with some family. It's downtown tomorrow in Omaha for the day so will see if we can make it over there to get a bit closer to it
Garage sale is 2 days down.....unfortunately there is still a lot of clothes left....but over $1200 in sales in 2 days so it's at least not for nothing. I'm pushing for half price Saturday....the more we sell the less I have to haul off.

But $1,700 ish total on 3 days so doesn't ****. But it was 7 years of storing, totes etc and at least 200 hours the last couple of months as things were sorted, organized etc..... so not pure profit by any means
Now next step is to follow thru and anything that didn't sell is donated to a local community pantry...I'm hoping we load that stuff up tomorrow....fingers crossed but not optimistic

We frequently use our local Buy Nothing group on Facebook to purge things if we have someone to give old kids stuff too. I always smile when I see our neighbors outside in our kids old clothes.

Yeah...I hope this is the start of being able to dispose of things on a more regular basis. A neighbor who has a boy about 2 sizes bigger then mine drops off 2 bags about every other month .... I'd love to get in the same position....
And yeah...my lumber horde is totally not the same and definitely not excessive lol

Thanks for mentioning the buy nothing group, I had heard about it but never joined the local one and this reminded me of it and put in the request to join. Hopefully we can load up the remaining items and drop off this week at the community closet it's going to....in the mean time I at least am shoving all the stuff to the far side and putting the workshop side back together!
Otherwise the sale and a now 5 yr olds birthday party took over the weekend.
My brother took the role of "funcle" and sent squirt guns...2 of the smaller ones for the kids and the bigger one so mom and dad can properly defend themselves lol
Supper was smoked pork chops, boneless loin sliced thick, seared on a skillet then smoked on the pellet smoker. When the kids ask for more meat I call it a success
I was also told that the party plates were too small...I said they were perfectly sized.
The kids then scolded me for no veggies so peas got added
We didn't make it downtown Saturday to see it either....son said yes...daughter said no ..ended up at a small metro area town festival to distract them and keep them out of the house during the final leg of the garage sale.

LOL. One of the neighbors came over to the sale on Saturday cause her kids had never seen a garage sale and he wanted to see one. They're military and frequent movers so if it doesn't get used at least a couple times a year it's gone...not a bad approach. As I look at the amount of heavy tools in the garage, the hand tool only workers have some advantages.
Been trying to avoid temptation on a Vyper shop chair....so upgraded the old craftsman rolling stool with some new 4" casters from the interwebz
Does seem to roll better and install was maybe 10 minutes so at least it was low effort and way less than a new Vyper brand
Got back to the serving board experiment, after sanding up to 320 I decided to try mineral oil for a finish on this. I've never used it....it's cheap, pretty fast and well reviewed from what I've read.
Some nice grain figure
After letting it soak for a bit, hung it up to drip dry, wiped off the excess and will see if I can buff it out tomorrow and get it ready to gift and get off the to do list

Joinery is sloppy but functional
Coat of spar urethane, couple more coats tomorrow then will attempt to string some twine. Want to make some tweaks to the trellis design I did last week
Morning is starting off rainy here...so much for mowing for awhile
Got some mahogany planed down and ripped into widths....single vertical post will be 2" wide, cross pieces are 1-1/8 as that's what made an even split on the board. It's all 1-1/4" thick.
Laying out to see if I want 3 cross bars or 2....settled on 2
Setup for the half laps
Cutting the half laps on the cross bars. Using the flip stop on the miter gauge to set the "width" of the joint. The cross bars are 22" wide so 11" is midpoint and they're going onto a piece that is just barely under 2". So I set the flip stop at just under 10", make a pass, flip the part end for end and make another pass, then flip the stop up and hog out the middle with some quick cuts. Should have put the dado stack on but didn't. Didn't take too much finessing to get some tight joints

"Challenged" the kids a bit on a ride...well they rode I walked. 4.5 miles total, they did awesome...longest ride they've ever done. Stopped probably 2 or 3 times per mile for them to get a quick drink and away we went again!
While at a neighbor's, noticed a pine table top on a homebuilt umbrella stand that had split in half...they attempted to put it back together with hot glue. They're super neighbors...lead the welcome wagon when new folks move in, invite a bunch of the neighborhood with little kids to the pool and a potluck meal probably 2x a month during the summer so I couldn't let that one go unattended....lol
So after my kids were back in bed, I went back and stole the top
Split the 2 seams with the tracksaw, had to clean a couple of the faces up with the jointer as well
Domino's...cause why not? It really is a joy to use...was it necessary...no. But as I suspect these tops they got premade from a big box or craft store were likely glued with interior rated glue(cause cheaper), I didn't want to not put something else in that joint to help with alignment and add some strength

It was a rewarding little project...took it back over this evening and they were super happy. No pictures of it installed as the pool was occupied but it's a round wood thing with an umbrella thru the middle....
My son has taken to loving sweeping and vacuuming and actually does a pretty good job for someone that barely sees over the top of the tables lol. It's maybe encouraging a bad habit of mine not cleaning up as well or as quickly so he can do it...but I'll take the tradeoff with him learning about cleaning and just being in the garage
Then got one of the flower trellis things installed
Hole for number two is dug....during which time I found a sprinkler line....so gotta fix that before I go any farther!
Get the trellis work completed, finish getting the rest of the garage sale setup **** out of the garage and back to its home(some of which doesn't have a home yet) then hopefully the Nova comes back to the garage for "good ish" or until weather forces it back to storage

Using the provided bracket...well it needs some modification to move that bend about 1/2" to 5/8" down
Flattened it out with my favorite big hammer on the anvil
Laid out the new bend, made some cuts with the 3.5" cutoff wheel then hand bent it in a vise
Some speaker gasket surround foam shows up tomorrow and hopefully can put the front speaker back in and then get the duct work pieces back together.
Then we move onto in no particular order ....oil change, plugs and wires, distributor cap and rotor, new ****** pan, filter and fluid, new rear speakers, led turn signals, new headlights, new radiator hoses and fluid, brake fluid flush.... probably a long enough list for now

@Boostingaz has the kids blowing off stuff...well this is just the reverse right?
In the safety briefing we did discuss that trunks aren't for playing in as they could get hurt.... probably need to make it a practice not to leave it open like I did today.
They enjoyed rolling out the "sticker" as I called it ...hard for little hands to get it fully wet out but it at least kept them from fighting with each other for a nanosecond or two

Speaker install half done....well operation cut speaker holes half done
Sound deadening up first...seems reasonable to put there but no prior experience
Father in law was nice to me and when he did the interior he cutout the hardboard backer for the speaker and just ran the foam board with the upholstery over the top so it was easy to see where the cutout in the deck was while laying on my back in the trunk

To get final fit had to cut the hardboard backer in a few spots so loaded a carbide burr in the M12 die grinder and it chewed it away quickly....and made a mess everywhere as expected

Still need to screw it in, but for the first project that's "hard to undue" I'm happy with it....and kinda thinking I should've spent more on the speakers but if I want to upgrade down the road it'll be easier now.
Maybe tomorrow will see the other one get done

Eh, once you go to any decent aftermarket speaker the improvements are incremental at best. Going audiophile in an automobile is a bit of a fool’s errand. Those grates would bug me in a classic though.Speaker install half done....well operation cut speaker holes half done

The speaker grilles are bugging me as well...glad it's not only me!
Think it's going to move towards a more "traditional" grille mesh cover something like this:
Then try and get a close paint match to the package shelf and paint to match

Bunch of random **** time
Been fighting a bit of static in the Nova stereo, installed an inline power filter
Helped but not as much as figuring out it was specific to the front right and unhooking the offender. So now I need to pull the dash back apart(5 ish minutes) to make sure the spade connections on the speaker are solid...but even with it unhooked music is so much better
Also fixed my seatbelt issue.....the installer may have gotten overly excited about things showing up and didn't realize the two tethers for the latch were different lengths in front vs rear....
Longer ones go in back, shorter up front. With that fixed the kids are much easier to get buckled up in their boosters!

Correcting cream on an orange pad was a big improvement but not gone....so stepped up to fast correcting on the orange pad and that got them

Seriously though, the Camaro is lucky that it's going to get a simple wash this week for July 4th. Too busy to do anything more to it.
As for the stereo noise, if it's through the radio it could be the sparkplug wires giving off a signal. I've been down that road when I was a kid with cheap spark plug wires.

I'll make ya a deal ...I've got polishers and plenty of **** to go with them....you bring the Camaro and I'll provide the tools and materials for you to do it here lol. With everything you've got on I can understand the car being neglected, it will get better as the move calms down
As far as spark plugs, that's guaranteed to not be the cause for the simple fact I already own new wires and have it on the list to work on!
