I think you are missing some items in that refrigerator. Make sure these items are in there next time you post or we might have to get you banned from your own thread for awhile..... :ROFLMAO:

Well went 1 out of 2 on a quick stop at the close beer shop

Normally not a stout drinker but I do like trying new ones and bourbon so said why not. Probably gonna wait till later in the week or weekend to give it a shot when I'm not so tired from trying to keep wife supplied with various things as we try
and avoid getting too many other people in the household sick at the same time.

Also forgot to post this, but neighbor buddies 4x4 Phantom CNC showed up Monday. Bit of a debacle unloading as driver didn't follow his route and this was supposed to be stop 2...not 1 which meant stop 1 had to come off the truck and dropped in the street etc etc. We got it into the garage and the other machine loaded back up without any injury or damage though so all is good...though I'd be asking for a bit of a credit back on delivery fee if it was me.

Nevertheless he's over the moon, got it off pallet and to its planned home, not powered up yet but closer. Should be fun with this growing woodworking equipment collection in the neighborhood!

@loganb, note the 11% ABV. I would start by pouring some into a glass. One is usually my limit at a time, but if your liver is in good drinking shape, you might need more.....

I noticed the ABV....I don't feel so bad paying for it when it's equivalent to 3 cheap beers!

I have no desire to move to Iowa, but would definitely be interested in seeing that "house".

Martin

Was supposed to be listed this week but doesn't look like it got there, when I see the listing I'll share.

You have a growing woodworking neighborhood while I got machine shop owners in my neighborhood! LOL

I need to find the metalworking guys/gals in the neighborhood! Would love to figure out where they are. There is an elevator mechanic on the other end of the neighborhood with a hotrod in process in the basement...need to strike up a conversation with him

Nice job squirreling away all the wood. I can't help but notice it's only taking up the top half of that wall... you know what that means, time to go back and get some more!

I have to agree with Nick. That's probably not even a 1/4 of what I have stashed away. There is always more room in the attic! :devilish:

Bret

Yeah....the wife was pretty surprised how efficiently it got put away but has claimed she's "put her foot down" on any more until I I demonstrate what's going to be made....good thing we're in agreement the garage and all that happens in there is mine :)

I have thought about attic storage as there is a small attic above part of the garage....access to it ***** and it might be a tad full of blown in insulation...but It may become an option!

I think you could let your wife park on top of some too. Nice little wood flooring for the garage.

Her parents are staying with us right now....her dad would fit into this crowd...2 drivers in the house but there are 6 cars and he mentioned that there is metal or lumber or other "long stuff" under each vehicle in the garage and there was plenty of room under the volvo to store longer pieces....glare from daughter to him insued lol

You need to find the neighbor that has both......
Mine is 60% woodworking and 40% metal but the machining side is growing.

Sorry for cluttering the thread......

No cluttering at all, thanks for stopping in! I'd love to have a 10 x 32" lathe, dedicated welding area and a Series 1 Bridgeport(or clone)...unfortunately for now the space is going to be a constraint there so unless I can force the wife's car out of the garage which is going to be a hard sell....I'm going to have to beg, borrow or steal metal machining time from others.

Just a short trip to my 900 sq ft shop.
You are welcome to drop in whenever you need.
It is in sunny Florida so maybe not a short trip.

Mornings like this with temps into the 30's does make me question why I don't live someplace warmer. older I get, the more I understand snowbirds

But when I win the Powerball tonight I guess I can fix that?

First…dibs on the powerball! Second, it’s all fun and games down here except for when you get a taste of what Hell may be like in June, July & August! 😁

Vegas is a dry heat so you won’t feel it.......no

In southern hell months it’s not the heat it’s the humidity...... Thank God for air conditioning

For the record...shop has a/c

Logan, one's perspective changes quickly with a three-car garage. The day I moved in it felt almost too big. A month later I was wondering how to expand it.

@Duker, September in the South is like April up North. Just when you think the worst is over, we get a 'hot as hell' spell or they get a whiteout.

Chris, house, garage, shop and cars have a/c. I've thought about refrigerant lines in the driveway and front walk but the boss suggested I wear shoes instead.

I'd be lying if I said I also haven't gazed longingly at the area "behind" the third stall and worked up in my head what it would take to extend it 20' or so.... as with most problems it could be fixed with sufficient application of time and money. But as I had dibs on powerball winnings the money issue will be resolving soon right?

And a cooled driveway sounds great for the kids and dog to play outside inthe hot sun! Can't believe how practical bosses have to be at times

Earlier this week got the drill press column clamp area soaked in PB Blaster and it broke loose and was able to get the head up higher to a more comfortable position. The crank handle to move it up/ down wasn't with it, but I've never had much of a need to adjust the head height on a machine with an adjustable height table so I'll likely put it all the way up and leave it

20221104_170233.jpg

It also had its first little project drilling some holes in sapele, no idea what FIL is doing with them...but he agreed its a much nicer machine than the bench top Walker Turner

20221104_194531.jpg

And in good news wife is feeling better but still fails a covid test, bad news is I also failed one this AM and the 4 yr old says she had a sore throat as well... fun stuff. So looks like kids are home next week! As long as inlaws are with us (possiblyleaving this weekend), I'm supposed to keep myself in the bedroom or my office.... see how stir crazy I get. Thank goodness for grocery and food

Well since I'm trying to stay upstairs some computer time to start a project I've been wanting to do for awhile...CAD model of the garage. Thinking thru what I rebuild/repurpose/redesign to give more flexible space(code word so more stuff can join) and this should help:

Oh that's amazing, would love to do that with mine. May fire up sketchup and see if I can model my space

Nice work on the CAD mockup! I hope you feel better very quickly!!

Thanks! Here is where I'm probably stopping for today. Started in on some of the tools, mostly concerned with basic shape and footprint on the floor, they're not going to be super realistic models unless I find them from someone else :)

Pulled some parts out of McMaster's catalog(Electric duplex outlet with receptacles already in it) and the unistrut for the shelves...most other stuff was a quick and dirty sketch.

garage 2.jpg

garage 3.jpg

Will need to spend some time validating positions of electric outlets, confirming heights of casters (right now stuff on casters is just floating a fixed distance off the floor) and some of that, but it's a very nice start.

It's going to hopefully enable a more flexible equipment layout/rebuild of the chopsaw/cabinet area. I'm devoting too much space to that and the cabinets underneath are storing too much "air" and I need to get something more workable so looking to redo those cabinets, and incorporate storage or "docking" of the router table, possibly the planer and maybe some other things under there too...still lots to figure out there...but this is a nice step.

Well with trying to isolate and keep away from the kids as little one is supposed to get ear tubes next week and catching the bug would delay that a month...not much garage wise has gotten done. Little cad stuff, lots of youtube and Instagram browsing. Few packages showed up, excited about this one

20221109_214541.jpg

New Laguna carbide resaw blade for the bandsaw... excited to get some stuff glued up then give it a shot!

When I got the bandsaw it came with a new but opened Kreg bandsaw fence. Sized for the more common 14" model but should work here. Will make/buy a taller fence to attach when resawing taller stock

20221110_212857.jpg

Hadn't yet put in the long planned 240v run along this wall, just an outlet off the bottom of the panel so grabbed the bender and got started. Marked the first bend wrong so it stubbed 11" out instead of 5...oops. M12 portaband fixes that easily! This gets me to where the 1st box will go...so I'm calling it quits for the night there. Should end up as (4) circuits going in with plenty of room for a couple more if necessary as it's in 3/4 conduit

What band saw do you have and how do you like it? I sold my bench top 10" model a few months ago and am looking to replace it with a larger floor model.

18" Delta, model 28-682. I gave sub $200 for it as I recall as part of a you **** level Craigslist buy, the jointer and the planer were in the same deal. It's a lower end large machine without some of the bells and whistles but so far in my limited usage it's more capable than I am. I hope to be increasing the usage of it and to seeing if it continues to outperform me... smart money would say it does.

I've seen some nice, late model machines on Craigslist or marketplace for sale in 14, 18 and 24" sizes....so think understanding size desire is probably most important. 18" makes a big step up in size for resaw and just normal usage, downside being cost, fewer accessories out there and blades cost more. Bigger footprint as well, but in your shop I don't think the marginal increase in footprint is as critical.

Little morning garage time while she alternates between watching Encanto and making "families" with the various tools in the toolbox

20221112_091251.jpg

Didn't know I was out of 4" boxes so about to do a supply run. Hoping to get (3) circuits in and wired up, already have the conduit between boxes bent with the box offsets so once I get more boxes and fittings should go fast.

20221112_091300.jpg

While I'm in utility install mindset, planning to try and run another couple 120v circuits, coming straight up out of the panel to the topside of the shelf then around the wall. Planning on getting a smaller air compressor(quieter and free up space) and putting it up on the shelf above, so this will provide a circuit for that, 2 circuits for cnc router, shop vac for it and the laser, then additional capacity for ceiling mounted fixtures or other things to tie in down the road.

Picture time

Little one enjoys sweeping which is great for several reasons, but it's also the earliest memories I have of being in Dad's garage growing up was about her age and pushing around metal chips

20221112_094622.jpg

While doing other stuff, also working on trying to clean up some cast...wasn't in bad shape but needed a bit of cleaning...jointer is up next and it's worse

20221113_201754.jpg

I call this one "Too much $h!t"...

20221113_203504.jpg
Adding receptacle at the shelf level for a shop vac up there but don't want to stand on the cnc bed so bring out the scaffold plank so I can get that installed. A drop leg down the wall for a pair of receptacles at the bottom is for another day. Will have 2 circuits and not sure how I'm going to split them but with a shop vac and cnc router knew I wanted more than a single circuit when I'm going to all this screwing around to put them in.

20221113_210020.jpg

And looks like get to add a spool of wire to the shopping list

20221113_202628.jpg

In good news the (3) new 240v circuits are done and working so that's nice to have off the list. Once I figure out my dust collection plan for this wall(which really means finding the right deal) will hopefully be semi "setup" and able to move onto more projects in the shop and fewer on the shop

Little work here and there

Working to get jointer tuned up. I got it for a steal as the bed was pretty rusty and was already hauling other stuff out. Really haven't used it much since then but trying to get it tuned up as hoping to make some Xmas gifts and some chairs with the recent lumber haul

Have a bit of adjusting to do on the fence:

20221120_105710.jpg

Got the bed somewhat cleaned up, just some staining left but nice and smooth and all dings cleaned up. buffed out the Boeshield T9 this morning and ordered new carbide tipped knives for it and the planer so have a week or so to make a knife setting jig with a dial indicator to be ready for when the blades show up

Everytime my tool envy starts to fade away, you go post more damn pictures 😂

Lol ok that's funny given I think you have the newest mustard monster jointer? Mine has been taking up space for a year without much chip making so its overdue to earn its keep...or at least make a mess. Am looking forward to the new knives

Here is one I'm sure @Boostingaz won't be envious of....

20221120_162838.jpg

Broke 50 degrees so good afternoon to finish swapping outdoor tools around between the garage and the backyard "storage annex" (as a backyard "shed" isnt allowed lol). Still have some space left so need to stick some more things in it!

Still need to put it back together as it's summer storage location requires the discharge chute to come off so a few bolts to put back on. It got less than 2 hrs last year so not gonna do an oil change....if I'm fortunate It'll see similar usage this year

Did open the door of the annex and found Peter Rabbit got trapped in it a couple days ago when I was moving things around and chewed on a power cord a bit...shame didn't chew a little deeper as it was plugged in....

20221120_144203.jpg

At least it was only about 4' from the end so that's a nice win, new cord end from the drawer and back in service.

What the Sam is that?? A sand thrower? A rock spreader? I know I know....a compost distribution system 🤣

The technical term is "crystallized water redistribution device"
Otherwise know as a rock spreader for those of us with a gravel drive. Had this Honda when we moved in and I made a single pass down one side of the drive before I switched over to the tractor with blade. Spent hours removing rocks from the middle of my yard the next spring.

Of the things I miss about living on the acreage in Iowa....the 300 ft gravel driveway that had become a low spot after 50 years of neglect is not one of them. First several winters there I didn't have a tractor so cleared that drifting sob with a late 70's model Ariens...thing was a beast but definitely did a good job of rock throwing. I tried to always throw to the east side to cut down on the spring raking of rocks....didn't always work.

Oh how I wish I had the funds to pave our driveway. Well I guess if I didn’t spend so damn much on tools I would, but tools are probably better than a paved driveway.
