So the largest add-on was several times I wished I had ramps for the trailer. I was toying with the idea of removing the existing barn doors and make a complicated multi function rear doors/ramp. But I was talking to guys who had multi functioning doors & ramps but they said the door/ramps do everything but non very well. So I decided to just build simple ladder ramps. But traditional equipment ramps are constructed of heavy channel and angle iron which is overkill for my application and overly heavy. I built my ramps from 1.5" .125" square tube stringers with 1"x1.5" .125" rectangle tube for the cross members. I added a bow string to the bottom of the ramp using 1/4" flat bar with a stand off which significantly adds strength to the ramps. I tested the strength of the ramps by driving my f150 up the one with it having 0 deflection. Both ramps have expanded metal on them so something with small wheels don't drop between rungs. The ramps are attached to the trailer by a piece of angle welded to the bottom of the dump body frame (lots of overhead welding fun:beer:).

Since they day I finished the trailer build I've been meaning to add rubber bump stops to quiet down the bang from the dump body hitting the steel stops of the lower frame. The rubber stops mount is a gusseted piece of 3/8" plate. The part added to the dump body is all 1/4" plate with a bunch of overhead welding and banging your head off the bed.

Next was to fabricate the ramps storage holders in the 4" frame cavity between the tongue and dump body. The holders are just 2" 1/8" angle iron, but before I added those I had to relocate the mount for the safety support.

Even more IMPRESSIVE what you've done OP with the trailer !!

LOVE the storage of the ramps.

To reduce the angle on ramps, I've just used my plastic car ramps first, and put steel ones in the middle. This enabled low profile car to get loaded on 16 ft dual-axle trailer. Of course, the surefire way to reduce angle is back the trailer tires into a ditch first. ;)

Great build, you have mad skillz!
I have a 6 ton 7 x 12 that is my porta dumpster. One thing I don't see is wheel chocks. You must be finding you need them occasionally and you have alot of space in your box for storage it looks like.

Nice job on the trailer. I'd love to have one the same size. Big enough for most of the work I do and I can make two trips if I had to.

You did such a nice job on this you might want to consider a bottom liner. From what I read in the thread, most of the material you haul would not be a problem. But still might be worth considering a liner. Makes things slide out like butter.

The plastic Isn't a bad Idea for most dump trailers, but mines got a steep enough dump angle even wet clay will slide out with very minimal sticking.
