68x48 attached garage updated 12-23-09
So last year I went on the hunt for property to build a shop. I found in my area it is not allowed to have just a Barn on a empty lot. But at the end of last winter I did find a house that was a fixer upper but did have a new well and septic. This fall we started building the 68x48 shop due to the lay out of the septic I was forced to attach the shop to the house. Now for the pictures!!!
Starting to dig the breeze way to the shop.
Finished hole for the crawl space. The crawl space goes into the shop 1ft to allow bringing utilities into the shop from the house.
trenching for the footing.
wood for the forms
hand digging out trenches
forms done and ready for concrete
Pumping truck for pouring the foundation.
Pumping in 65 yards of concrete will wear you out!!!
filling in the breeze way.
Then we had a work stoppage thanks to the neighbors. Seems they don't like the barn as much as I do. They caused a big stink at the township and county. Turns out when the township calculated the coverage of the property incorrect. We ended up being 100sq ft over sized. To fix this we are taking off the one car attached garage. We where also told by the township to post no trespassing signs because the neighbors had been coming onto the job site looking around.
Starting to pour the floor 6" thick fiber reinforced
all the concrete is poured just starting to trowel.
The concrete contractor was a family friend and as a hobby he builds pizza ovens. He wanted to try building a small clay oven while the concrete was setting up.
pizza cooking
yum
That's all I have for now we are starting framing of the barn next week. Hope you like it and I look forward to your comments
Thanks
Bob
