Great space. I can't think of a better way to do that lower garage. Looks fantastic.

I as well recognized the car as a fellow tt.netter. Screen name sealed it as well.

Always loved the Blitz 03's. Still my favorite wheel for the Z. Look forward to seeing this to completion.

Love seeing the TT.net support here! Thanks...I have always loved the blitz 03's as well.

Moar Supras! :D

Looking good MH. I didn't notice the textured ceiling before, is that new? Is the concrete part of the wall getting painted as well, or is it going au natural?

That is definitely the place to be! Looking great.

Is that most recent supra in the process of a paint job? Odd he didn't get the under side of his hood painted.

I finally got everything where I wanted it and got to clean my tile. I love it!

Something else that was nice to find out was that even with standing water it wasn't very slippery.

Next step. Tiling the 4 car downstairs garage.

Madhatter: awesome job tiling, painting and overall a great design.

as far as shelving especially if you want to put some heavy items on them you might want to get some commercial racking and cut them to 7 or 8 foot tall if you can't find the shorter ones used on Craigs or at the local used racking yards. they come in 2 and 4 foot deep and a few other sizes.

here's a picture of mine (a bit messy) and as you can see with a few of the metal supports under the pressboard they do hold a ton (I've had 4000 pounds of gym weights on that shelf when it was not a mess and loaded).

also Costco has a 6 foot tall and 2 foot deep pretty solid shelving for $150 each if you like the wire shelving.

did you put anything permanent or what did you end up doing to eliminate the 2 inch floor height difference in the two garage areas?

good luck on tiling the other garage.

drivesitfar,

Thanks!

Your shelving looks awesome...and I will probably try and get something very similar to that. I would like to find / make a cloth cover for them just to give it a nicer more finished / buttoned up appearance.

Regarding the height difference I had a wooden ramp made that tucks in perfectly. Ill grab some pics once its all painted and in place with the garage being done.

We have some similar modular steel rack shelving ... I think we got it from Costco. It's "hammered metal" grey finish (looks like the Rustoleum type) steel frame with thick particleboard shelves. Very sturdy, I'll try to remember to get a pic tonight, I think it would fit well with your colours.

Madhatter: here's a couple pictures of the Costco shelving i have in another storage unit. also this butcher block bench is a knock off that Costco sold that works great in almost any shop if you might need another and check Craiglist for them because they sold new for $200 ish. Gladiator makes that same bench with a little heavier gauge metal for $600 so you see why i grabbed the Costco one.

good luck and thanks for the compliment because i set up a lot of that commercial rack shelving in my storage unit since the ceilings are 14 foot high inside it.

Edit: I'd like so see how you made that piece of wood to make a small ramp into the basement garage because i have about the same lip on my storage units and moving my lifts and pallet jacks across it is a pain. thanks

also i put those metal organizers for my small tools under the open butcher block bench and they just fit in case you can find some.

I'm having a hard time visualizing the layout, do you have any plans or a sketch to show a plan view? Not trying to be nosy but the wife and I are moving soon and potentially building new, so if I can get ideas on how to do something similar it woudl be great.

What kinda pup is that?

I like the bare concrete walls in that unfinished space. With the floor tiled and the right lighting, that could make for a decent photo backdrop. Kinda urban parking deck/bunker.

This should help sir...

I did this before we started remodeling as one of the possible layouts. The final product is very similar.

Good luck on the place for you and your wife

We got the Supra finished up last night and then instantly loaded up the next project. This is a mid 700HP Nissan 300ZX with a 2J swap that we had finished a couple of months ago. Ended up blowing the front main seal. We are going to fix the seal and swap the clutch to a more street friendly setup.

That Supra looks gorgeous. And I'm glad to see you're putting those tiles to work in the pics with the Z on the lift. How's the cleanup of spills so far?

If you haven't already looked up the MaxJax threads - get the Torin Transmission jack - cut it down - and Greg Smith equipment makes some low rise jacks that work perfect:

I used mine when I dropped my built up my LSx in my Vette this past spring.

Madhatter: no hurry because with holidays and a new member added to your family you are a busy guy not mentioning all the cool car stuff you are doing. i didn't know if you have had a chance to show how you make the 2 or 3 inch transition into your basement's portion of the garage.

did you say you made it out of wood and is it fairly permanent or do you just have it available to put down when you need it.

Happy Thanksgiving and everything is looking awesome.

Got a new cart to hold tools. I had gotten in the bad habbit of laying tools in the engine bay so I think this will be very helpful.

Also, picked up a new 60 Gallon Air Compressor and moved all my air tools over to 3/8
