The install kit comes with a drill bit bushing that you install in the mounting bracket. Need a 16” bit to get through to the dash.

IMHO the visor looks too modern.

I like the look of the old ones, but they didn't have the swoop.
Look for some old PICs and try and find one with the air exits at the join point.

I would sell it and keep looking.

Sounds like you're talking about the Fulton visors. I believe they are for older-50's era trucks.

Yep.

Picked up my hood today. Alternative Blasting in Marysville, Wa.

They did a great job. Unfortunately, there is a fair bit of body work to be done.

There are holes where the F O R D was removed from the front of the hood, a good sized ding in the front corner, and one right on top, as well as some rough grinding marks from previous bodywork/paint prep that was a tad aggressive.

Nothing that won't get taken care of, just a bit more work than I was anticipating.

From the under side, it all looked good.

Installed a lot of the Unity lights on that vintage Ford, we used the electricition bits, a lot longer, forgot the size, seems like 1/2". Be careful as wire for the cab lights go up thru the piller and easily nicked with the drill bit.

Seems I'm going to need a longer shaft for the light. Total for the parts I need to make this work is about $150.

Might need to be back-burnered for a bit.

Seems I have a couple things coming up that might slow the progress on the truck. More on that later.

After a can of acetone and a pile of rags, I got the hood shot with primer this afternoon.

Time to start some body work:

FedEx brought me my Bed Up Indicator light kit early this morning. Gave me time to get it installed today!

Crawled underneath the truck and found out my truck frame and bed frame aren't in the same plane. I had to add 1/2" to the bracket so the two parts lined up.

Bed up switch installed on the truck frame:

I had to adjust them so the stop hits the switch, and depresses it 3/16" of an inch.

All that so this little light will come on when my bed is in the up position.

Went about as slick as projects go..........

A couple post back I mentioned that there were a few things coming up that might slow the progress on the truck.

This weekend one of them came home.

We took a long weekend and drove from Seattle to Redding, Ca. and picked up our new pup.

8 weeks old. Handled the 12 hour trip like a trooper.

He's a Newfoundland, and will most likely top out at about 155 Lbs.

He's already bigger than my wife's 12 Lbs. poodle, but I'm sure the poodle will remain the top dog for quite awhile yet.

Still looking for just the right name.........Open to suggestions

Luke, in a strange Dukes of hazard way. You have the right truck too. I suppose Skeeter would be better just because of the truck.

I do like trooper, but then the kids at doggy school might call him pooper.

Awesome dogs. I have a friend who had Newfies. It was nice to see the kiddie wading pool - they are water dogs, and he will need access to water so he can cool off and play.

Going off topic and once had a friend called Doggy. He was a great panel beater spray painter. He had a Dog called Turner as he said it turned good tucker into SH#T. Turner used to sit on the fuel tank on a Triumph Motor bike in front of Doggy. Now that was interesting to see.

I still believe the name Trooper will stick as a choice for you.

I had to look up the dog on American Kennel Club website. There is an awesome story in the history section about their dedication to humankind.

Ranger was on our short list, for a few reasons.

It's what we went with. Too bad my trucks only a Custom. Oh well.

Spent this morning stressing and fretting about drilling a hole for the Unity spot light.

installing the mounting bracket was easy enough, but the main hole from the cowl to the inside had me a little anxious.

There was little room for error.

Reading, and actually following, the instructions helped

Good thing I had my helper to keep me calmed down.

I will add that Unity's customer service has been great.

I guess he just wants to be under you over you or just have your attention all the time. Did you have any hassles wiring the light ? How did you run the wires for it?

At least when he’s under foot I can keep my eye on him.

The spot was super easy to wire. It’s just above the fuse block.

Only a power wire, it’s ground thru the body/attachment.

It was 5 or 6 layers of metal, all at odd angles from the bit.
Each one wanted to deflect the bit.

Went at slow speed, with just enough pressure to keep the bit in contact with the metal.

Spot light turned out great. I remember when those were all the rage back in the 70's and 80's but you don't see too many of them these days.

I’ve never had one, but always wanted one.

The new ones are a lot more powerful, and get fairly expensive.

This one fits the truck (and my budget) perfectly.
