At some point I would suggest reading your entire thread from the beginning and you too will see what progress you have made. I had to do that more than once, it is eye opening.

I did read a couple posts at the beginning yesterday. Lack of pics was annoying. Fricken' Photobucket.

No pic today, but i did get the whole floor loop sweated in. I need to install my gauges and a couple of threaded components and then pressure test the loop before i fill. I am targeting this weekend for fill because my methanol barrel is in a dark area and i don't want to fuss with setting up lights in the evening. As dangerous as that stuff is, it's not worth a chance at a boo boo.

So tonight it should be warm in there finally, (it wasn't last night, damn insulation!) so i will probably work on the boiler loop and connections to that.

Got everything assembled, attached my test fitting and pumped to 75psi. Closed valve, and it bled down right away. Got the soap out and found my leak. Never seen a valve leak at a seam before. To the store I go....92fe816bf2e451f1bbb222ae27329f14.jpg7fc946afc7205f32c6349c117639c6ef.jpg4554a3f360f5e47187b91ed7eee64bb5.jpg63985b31d56f385e8c8308626bc4a884.jpgee70f59560ae1b319eb736b9f3b06650.jpg

Yeah, I've never seen that before! It was a used valve, but still!

I've seen ball valves leak like that. On most of them I've been able to unthread the 2 parts then retighten to stop the leak.Sometimes they just wouldn't seal up for whatever reason.

On something like what you're working on a new replacement would probably be the best choice though.

Did you sweat that fitting while it was in the valve?

Might have used too much heat if so.

No, I typically sweat a short bit of tube on first.

Boiler loop from boiler to buffer tank is not ideal. I don't have enough room from boiler to tank to get the full length of the assembly so I had to mount on the wall and route to it. Nothing lines up. It is what it is. I have a little time to think before I sweat it I guess. Suggestions?95edbd99f8512f333016e9bd656c2c66.jpg87af5e1fbc91e08fa82042f13ae7d5ff.jpg118473118f9f6e99c6053212c509a555.jpg

Got the upper loop all sweated in and fittings attached. Turned out ok I think.

I got too tired to keep going. Tomorrow bottom loop I think.92e73010b5e0894146200dede0de16d4.jpgad206cbffc2438b29fe8bd7308c361cd.jpg4439fe94f4500779b0a82583a83946c8.jpg4e2524b172b7a82d125c9dca2637b550.jpg410f9c54c2e88a6ac4285bec0c24ab3a.jpg8ffc50336b1ad91ab9b616e52dd6105e.jpg

Circuit for the bottom of the boiler loop. Tees are placeholders I'm out of 1/2 x 1. Gage and temp probe. Gives me analog gages on in and out of both loops.

Injection will have to wait a bit. The taco 006 is on order. Everything else is here.6585b474135a33d0364ebcfc8168e795.jpg1b11196e56c874063d4d05c0c3a1edd8.jpga110572a3e1c8b62321e49167ba4c10c.jpg

Arrg! One tee less than I need to finish...

All the other parts came in by Saturday. Probably ready to pressure test tomorrow.

Injection return loop first photo.
Injection pump with placeholder tee second and third pics.

The left branch of the tee goes to a check valve and three way valve. Future possible solar panel setup.7e1e775c479d3b65a044ac2680d32397.jpg30afe1885f189c1de04986aa0b49d570.jpg3eacce92d219b1f2d175833f86f7f98f.jpg

Finished up the sweating last night and started pressure checking the system and then realized I forgot the expansion tank. Ugh I'm an idiot. Need to make a bracket to hold the tank and then sweat the line.

That looks mighty complicated. I am lucky; in the south we can get away with a heat pump.

It's not really that complicated. You should see my house radiant... that looks like a navy sub! :p

I wish i lived in the south. It would significantly simplify my life. I'm debating whether or not to fill the system until temps are above freezing consistently. I have to flush the old glycol out of the floor before i fill with the new mixture, and if the slab is cold, it could freeze and cause issues.

I would think that waiting would be a wise choice. WAY too much work involved for it to get ruined by freezing. Just my 2¢.

Finished all the plumbing last night. Had to make a mount for the tank since it was offset and couldn't hang. Pressure test showed leak only at the backup element which was snugged down and stopped the leak.

I think we are good to move to combustion development and controls.99f112d1f01c7aa13d172ef3be114a18.jpg7de8855c7f15495d3620ba7930d523fd.jpg

I am tending to agree. I am flying south to visit my brother next thurs, it would **** to be down there and have a cold few days roll thru and not be able to attend to it. I might fill the floor and just call it good if my anti-corrosive agent turns up. Had to get it from the UK. US distributors thought a boat ride and a shelf stay deserved a 400% markup. Nah.

400%!?!?!? WTH? Does it contain unobtainium?

Careful it may contain something that has been found in the State of California to be a health hazard.

Fortunately we live in Michigan so you should be OK.

Good you found a source that ain't into gouging.

Dunno. Anti corrosive listed to work with methanol. Only made in the UK as far as I could find.

Was going to work on the burner tonight but we have a snowstorm so the truck isn't going to town to get iron pipe. I'll work on something else.

I have always figured that the second I step foot across the California state line, I will drop dead from cancer. Every thing I use causes cancer in California.

Wondered if anyone had opinions on oil tank positioning. It was flat against the wall. There's no great place to put it. It will be too heavy to put above the bathroom with the air tanks.

I thought sideways would give me some room for a long ish lathe.3f155fd37a868cd080ccd274913964ee.jpg45ec830192902f5c4756eec601fc5d1b.jpg7ee7a182616cb418680737d31560665c.jpg

IMHO, IF you put it like that, I'd spin it 180° so the outlet valve is towards the wall. Less chance of it getting knocked into, saving shins and possible leak.

Yea it'll take up a few inches of walking path real estate but I think it would be worth considering.

Not UNLESS you really give it a good smack, knocking it clean off the tank or cracking the valve or tank bung.

Not saying it would happen but I've seen weirder stuff occur.

Just my 2¢.
