I have pre and post pump filters. I might add strainers for the hoses though.

I really need to fix my burner. I had it running last night to warm the place up a bit, and about 1130pm i came out to find it not running. It had gone out from lack of airflow. Due to ash buildup. I opened the front door and gave it a whiff of air. It responded by flash igniting and burning all the hair off my hand. Nice. Burned hair does not smell nice.

I'm done. Burner 2.0 on the way.

Yes, the thermal dynamics plasma rides again!!!

Put out lots of fires though. Dry here.ac309fbe9015fe82ab26e6f5b59e0c22.jpg7b751af6285d50dee4d11ead87d981bd.jpgfe111f483a0cf9a0622f056c17e28543.jpgcc0e424522f2029b15b18ec6b8cc7191.jpg715783b7a00e15bce926bd55c7db9cbb.jpga72bccb3941a877172694f4435deeb7b.jpg

I use gasoline to start fires all the time, but just not with my face right in it. :)

Once a friend down the road (who wasn't always the brightest) unloaded a pile of firecrackers into a tin plate, put his head over top of it and lit the powder. I'm not sure his intent there, but it flashed straight up, engulfed his face, he jumped up and ran screaming into the garage, a contrail rolling off his head as he ran. We laughed so hard. His eyebrows did come back, eventually, thankfully. Looked funny for a while though. I learned to be careful with fire that day. :)

I was at the age where I handled it fairly well, any younger and I may have been badly burnt, any older and the "adult" may have been badly injured.

Does the B&W just bolt on? Also what is it capable of handling for a trailer?

The b and w is a bolt on. It's rated 30k lbs. I got totally lucky and found one in Toledo for cheap. Normally those run 500ish. The old hitch was a chunk of channel welded to the frame with a welded ball that somebody torched off, then the bolted a homemade plate with another ball on top of it. Redneck city.

I am going to setup a fifth wheel that is removable, but I need the gooseneck ball too. I will be custom making mine due to the fact that it will be mounted on a Freightliner FL60.

I already had the 5th wheel hitch from b and w so I was a little locked in. I built a copy of a b and w for my white truck. It worked ok but I wanted to go factory for this truck.

That was what I thought, I figured it was a $500 hitch, but when I found out it was a $2,000 hitch that came with 1100 pounds of pure lead for $250, it was a good purchase. ;)

I have never used one of those style hitches or a gooseneck, well, I guess since the kingpin is the same size on a real fifth wheel hitch, I have used similar. I think it will be cool to have the fifth wheel and gooseneck, eventually I want to have air ride and air brake lighter duty trailers. That way no one will ask to "borrow" my trailers.

Just having a gooseneck trailer eliminates most borrowers. The casual guy doesn't do that. If you bother to install a serious hitch, it separates the men from the boys.

Spent last night grinding the frame flat on 3 of the 4 corners. Till dark anyway. Think i managed to get something in my eye again. I might have to see the eye doc today. Not as bad as last time though. I did get cleared by work to order some prescription safety glasses though, so i need to scrape up some money to do that.

The last time I got something in my eye, I was wearing my safety glasses, I felt it bounce from my face, then to the inside of the lens, then into my eye. Any type of eye injury *****. Hope all is well without any damage.

it seems like it's ok. it's been getting better over the day. we'll see what it's like in the morning. I got the last of the **** ground off tonight, WITH the safety glasses on, of course.

Northern Ok.
Hopefully the eye gets better soon. Consider a face shield (not my favorite) or goggles, 20 pair is cheaper than one ER visit and more pleasant than an eye infection. Don't ask how many pairs I could have bought before finely buying a pair.

I like face shields when using a wire wheel. In fact, when I am doing a lot of grinding/cutting, I will use safety glasses and face shield with a stubby breathing filter thingy (technical name of course).

Whatever was in the eye worked itself out. Close call. Good reminder to wear the safety glasses.

Super crappy weather today. Worked cleaning the shop and worked on my boys truck.

Weather.com - 'windy conditions make the temp feel like 22f'. Just peachy.

The gooseneck hitch fits. But I can't paint the frame until Tuesday. Too cold to paint. Probably another week until I get this rig done. I fricken hate the north. Just doesn't match my interests.

Yes, the North is not my cup of tea either, my GF is the only real reason I am still here. Unfortunately it most likely won't change anytime soon, but I am thinking about buying a souther place to land myself while hunting for good deals in rust free areas.

Oh how I dream of moving south. Everyone says just do it. I picked a career that revolves around Detroit though. Sigh.

Boy that's probably true! Lol.

I had to get the plasma back out and chop off some brackets off the frame. The gooseneck hitch will now fit. I have missed that thing. Like laser scalpel.

Hey, 86 I've been lurking for over a year and haven't posted. I too have a few IDI Ford trucks. I'm interested in your fix for the plastic shower heads. I'll be watching for a picture of the finished product. I see where you are going with it.

The pickups I made. 3in stainless 065 wall pipe, cnc plasma rings to hold the original screens. Compression fittings to hold em on. Easy peasy. One of the screens got a little melty due to heat. I figure they aren't going anywhere. Didn't want any plastic left anywhere. These should be permanent. Also made em so I can got 1/2 pipe later if I want big power.2586aa2196b830b1b7c558e7994daacb.jpg17e55567ae028ef5b3c82cb682d89d4e.jpg

And now I ruined the plastic by melting it. And I welded the bung upside down. Grrrrr.

Lots of chaos here.

Been working on the new pickups. McMaster sent me some stainless screen. Scrapped the plastic. All stainless.aa161b025bdece2d2bc6e3616dbd6e44.jpgf587af23516e6545f00f8153cbd90c27.jpg18a7af96cda3794dd0a966b85462cd46.jpg6cd82b031b21a402b3c7b9e18ff4360f.jpg

The stainless screens become a module that gets tacked in place.

The final part turned out good. Bung off center a bit but will work good.

Today's fun. Rewiring the big red truck. The tailight and trailer harness was a train wreck. Some redneck idiots owned it before me. Most of the wires running to the back had 4 to 5 splices in them. I hate scotchlocks. Those things are evil. The power wire for trailer batteries was down to about 5 strands. 10ga. Surprised the thing didn't explode running down the road. Bought a similar but not exact harness and depinned and moved wires one by one to the old harness. Now it's 90pct right. Still need to make some waterproof repairs before it goes back in. Need some good heat shrink tubing with glue.fbc50d0c9400b8be5222adfbff444d45.jpg2d1a8826ae3487fe506469a8b1e0b459.jpg
