HOTFR8, I quite often do not stop and think what I am writing as what is natural to us leaves other totally confused.

Note to File ½ Cup – Stop and think before you post.

With apologies to those in other parts of the world we Aussies on the GJ could often be speaking a different language and after all being a global forum often one rule for some thing say an electrical code could be very different in another location. Often this makes for some interesting reading. Also a great reason to prompt any newcomer to the forum to update a location to a profile so when asked they get the right members responding.

Before we put the language thing to bed, I worked for a time with a Canadian and a Scotsman. After a while the Canadian became irritated with us. (How hard is it to irritate a Canuck?) Whatever one of us said, the Canadian would have to repeat. I know he repeated exactly what I had said, but the Scotsman only understood the Canadian. Reverse also. The Scotsman would spout some gibberish then the Canadian would tell me what he said. And we got pretty quick about it. During a heated technical discussion the Canadian inserted some of his thoughts and it totally confused us as we were so used to him being only an interpreter.

ANDY: you didn't even have to put the LOL hammers on that one. OMG i was glad i was in between sips on my apple cidar vinegar and water wake me up drink. THAT WAS FUNNY!!

Andy, we have a great mix of nationalities working in our team, like I have said previously a female French Canadian Electrical Engineer, a female French Mechanical Engineer, an Irish Senior Mechanical Engineer and a Malaysian Manager. All great people to work with and very professional in their own right, I might add but you do have to become a good listener in interpreting the heavy accents at times and if we don’t understand what is being articulated a simple “ I don’t quite get it or a can you please repeat that “ will always work.

Again, stating the obvious the week end is upon us..

It looks like another hot one here today, around the 100 F for the third day running with a cool change tomorrow forecast. I am a little over this heat to be honest, any way the house and shed are very comfortable.

So its the lawns first up while its cool and then retreat inside to the shed.

Andrew has basically gone as far as he can with the new MG F sub frame build so its is ready to marry the engine, gearbox and drive shafts together. I should see that here on Sunday hopefully.

I have a few Honey Does to catch up on and tick them off the list as well.

Plus I have to fulfill my obligation to myself ( see below.)

Corporate Policy in the Shed Downunder on my weekly To Do List from now on and that is " include at least one trivial job on that list every week" .

Not real sure what that will be at this point in time..

drives, things have slowed a bit on the engine now that young Aiden has arrived and rightly so as parenting duties are his top priority now. We will just keep chipping away at it as the degree of urgency to get it finished has now diminished somewhat.

I mounted the newly overhauled alternator during the week, this was the first time I had seen it as Andrew had removed it in his shed, while the overhaul ticked all the boxes however the pulley ( which came of the old engine ) was a modified cast iron air conditioner pulley that is a larger diameter basically because it cuts down the RPM that it does to prevent it burning out on the race engine. Apparently they are know to do so. I am not sure just how it held up on the old engine and toss a belt..
In checking the alignment I found it was out significantly, so a new aluminium version plus some other bits and pieces are on its way from the UK now.

Walking Shelby is a non negotiable, being hot last night we spent some time playing with the hose and her ball, she really loves that

Interesting how many English speakers there are around the world. Since English is the official maritime language and air traffic control language it gives us that speak some kind of dialect of English an advantage. As a Commonwealth country, the English spoken in Nigeria is one of the most difficult for me, whereas our neighbors from India are very understandable to me.

Is there English spoken in Scotland?

A little story: I was in Tehran during the Shah's reign doing a project for NIGC (National Iranian Gas Corporation). The Iranians were selling gas to Vieux's guys but the Russians would only pay with machinery, Iran could get Russian equipment but no cash. NIGC was having a meeting with TSMT (a Russian gas compressor company IIRC) and NIGC wanted me to attend. I was hesitant when the Dutch born NIGC chief engineer assured me the meeting would be in English. It turns out I was the only real English speaker there. It was very interesting to me that they held all their meetings in English, it was apparently the only common language their interpreters had.

I remember around 30 years ago everyone was saying that the international language would never be English - big push was for Esperanto ( so common nowadays /joke that I had to think hard to even remember what it was called ? )

All, another scorcher her today at 102 f.

I have two air conditioners in the Shed Downunder, a small split system in the Office and Model A section which is fully lined and insulated and the workshop has an old and when I say old it would be 35 years old at least. Its a 2 hp reverse cycle boxed unit that was given to me because it had a leak in the evaporator, that I was able to repair, vac out and recharge and install in the work shop some 25 years ago.

I had both running today as you do and it was quite comfortable to potter around in the shed earlier, however the old unit finally died and was blowing hot air this afternoon so it looks like I have another project on my hands. I am thinking of replacing it with a new split system at this point in time..

Any way the small unit makes the workshop area at least a little bit tolerable..

It is a fully welded Janspeed Cup Car unit, with solid stainless mounts, polyurethane bushes and adjustable suspension.

I spent some time removing the engine from the engine stand to the bench so that I could fit the rear main seal and lightened AP flywheel.

Next its the clutch then mate up the gear box and drop it into the frame..

drives, the pink ribbons are an in your face reminder that I need to tension the bolts before we start the engine as there will need to be some minor adjustments require as we get closer to that..

Every nut and bolt is double checked marked with a paint pen and ticked of on the QA sheets as we go.

I am sure most of Australia would be glad to send some heat up your way...
