I am out of hospital this morning and well on the mend, details below..
Andy, never fear
Atom lawn edger training and assessment is booked in for the new year. Actually
Mrs 1/2 Cup is very good and fussy with the mower..

Oh here we go again millemeter perfect and just watch them come out about imperial measurement. Talk about the way to open up discussion.
At my place I have to cut the Rye grass then run and hide.

HOTFR8, My micrometer does both metric and imperial so it satisfies all tastes.. I am not too bad with hay fever/rye grass but I do get watery eyes.
Here in the States, we have the saying “Over the top”, for when somebody takes things a bit too far.
Micrometer on the lawn edge is approaching OCD, or at least “A bit too far”
Riven, that saying applies here to and I can proudly say if I can I will.
1/2: i'm betting you didn't bring out the measuring tools while teaching Mrs. 1/2 how you like your lawn's edging cause i think she's cooking your meals isn't she?
hope you are feeling ok or maybe better than ok today.
cheers
Drives, actually
Mrs 1/2 Cup has a great eye for straight and neat. No measuring tools will be used in the training assessment as you say I do know which side my bread is buttered on.

See update below.
Made me smile.
My edges are all cut flat, rather than vertical
Rian, I am glad it put a smile on your face. I do like my edges on the vertical then use the mower on a lower height setting just around the edges.

I did dads edges......... when he has a look I don’t think the verniers will be needed lol

I’m lucky the lawn will grow fast this time of year with the recent rain.
Dad has been sent to lock down (hospital) for a dyne tune

usual stuff that chemo etc can bring, transfusion, tests n more tests to make sure all is on track.
Thanks
Andrew you and your
mum have done a top job..
Thanks for the information.
Dwight
Dwight, thank you..

Andrew: thanks for the update on DAD'S health status and still crossing my (our) fingers he gets rid of this ****. also very nice of you to stop in and help mom (and Dad or 1/2cup as we all know him) take care of some of the chores.
1/2: best of luck with the process and we're all still here pulling for you to get back to close to or at 100% again.
speaking of difficult problems. my bride moved a couple chairs around and the location of our sofa and ordered a little table. she didn't know it came with SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED. OMG i wish i had my woodshop set up so i could make one of these out of real wood, but this will do for a bit until that happens.
now following the directions i almost did ok, but missed one thing so i had to drill an extra hole to make it work.
the issue is this piece behind the door's handle that is 4 screw heads (no screws) and they are NOT CLOCKED. how in the world will i be able to sit next to this little table without thinking of 1/2 cup now. well it's all together and I'm thinking of you.
take care and hope they are giving you ice cream or something good to eat.
cheers
Drives, as always, thank you..

That is just so fantastic that you could think of me and clocked screws. I am just so humbled..
That fast growth will soon hide any measurable discrepancy that could be checked so I think you will be OK.
I noticed he had been away from the forum. Possibly a good thing before the hot weather and the Christmas silly season. Pass on good wishes.
HOTFR8, you are right there our lawns have gone gangbusters
Thank you for the update Andrew.

Shorty, thank as well..

1/2: i'm sitting here wondering why GJ is so quiet and realized it's cause 1/2 cup hasn't been around spreading more than a few good words or sharing his wisdom on a lot of the threads i like to read.
i really hope the flu or cold bug you had is gone and the week's trip at the hospital did some good.
prayers sent and hope you are feeling better soon.
cheers
Drives, thank you.. Appreciated. The hospital stay helped heaps.
I'll say it again!!!
(Sorry, couldn't resist!)
Hang in there Steve!!!!
Slim, thank you, getting there

Hi All,
Dad is going strong

the tune up briefly consisted of a slight infection fight which seems under control

, today on my bi daily visits seen a good step forward to dads yet again persistent will to keep fighting.

If he keeps continuing on his current track it wouldn’t surprise me is he made an appearance on GJ in the very near future.
Thanks again for all your wishes and support.
Done well
Andrew, thank you..
Great news Andrew thanks.
Bobby, thank you..

He is always in our thoughts and prayers.
Rob, thank you, as always much appreciated...

We would expect nothing less from
Mr. 1/2 Cup
Hurry back Steve!
Finallygotit, I am back and running on 6 out of 8 cylinders but the fouled plugs are clearing as each day goes by...
Andrew: thanks for the update on
DAD (1/2 Cup).
Slim: nice to see you making another post!! hope all is well in your world too?
1/2: don't worry about keeping this thread alive while you are recovering cause we'll try to without you even though it won't be as much fun. hope you are maybe at least enjoying your rest and again i hope the doctors know what they are doing cause you are a great person and patient.
cheers (yep still drinking ICE TEA, but if you give me the news you are 100% i'll pull out some beer or a gin and tonic)
take care
Slim, settling back to the new "normal" and trying to catch up on things. Taking things easy and looking after myself. I am actually looking forward to having the odd beer at Christmas time with all the familly around.
1/2 Cup,
You are in my prayers.
Jon04, thank you so much
Andrew....
Thanx for the update..........
Prayers..........
LynnW
Lynn, thank you.. Something is working well as I feel great this morning
Good to hear from you, and like the others have mentioned, both prayers and anticipation in equal measure.
Send him our regards in the mean time.
Rian, thank you. Back home and doing well
Dad in fine form = on steroids to kick some treatment side effects, I was told today by dad he is going to grow breasts! Lookout Pamela Anderson

,
Dad should be home mid week fingers crossed

, he is in fine form but will require some sort of oxygen machine for emergency purposes.... dad told mum he needs an 8kva gererator in case of a power outage lol...
All is well as and looking forward to his return home
Andrew, thanks for the support and justification to the business case. Your mum will get sick of me talking about it soon enough as the power outage effected the hospital as well and you know how much she loves her air conditioning.
Andrew - great to hear. More power to him. I'll try to call him next weekend.

Lyndon, back to the new normal.

Always glad to hear anything positive. You're in my prayers Steve.
Dan, thank you. I am getting there..
dad told mum he needs an 8kva gererator in case of a power outage lol...
Uh...good try but the Procurement Dept is going to kick that one back...But keep trying, 1/2, because one day you will catch them asleep at the wheel...
Jimreed, seriously I have been pushing the issue as I have to have an
Oxygen generator as a stand by that requires "power". Lets call it a work in progress..
I would think a wind turbine and/or solar panels connected to a Tesla Power Wall as backup to the gen set might be a wise investment too...
Ralf99, I may look at a power wall down the track at this point in time I am prepared wait as battery technology and costs are changing almost daily.
I can see what he is trying to do with the 8 Kva Gen Set. Given he already has Solar I reckon the emergency would be only happening in the Shed

. I can see 1/2 is thinking ahead

.
HOTFR8, you are spot on, nothing like a plan B. I must say that the selling point ( business case ) is easily leveraged on the fact that Mrs 1/2 Cup loves her air conditioning so I just painted that picture which has her thinking
It never hurts to have a layer or two of extra redundancy - especially on the 3 phase..
Ralf99, I am all in favour of a plan B it never hurts to be prepared for sure. I find that having 3 phase does give me a certain level of redundancy in a we do loose the odd phase in town due to imbalance issues at times and quite often we are left with a phase down. Not that the home has three phase load at all but the single phase load I do have is balanced and can be shifted if need be, we are pretty fortunate in regard to our location on the network and major outages have never been a huge problem even in this weeks 1/2 state wide outage.
Or a new tool to play with OOps I mean use to work with.
HOTFR8, most definitely. Powercor had nearly 92,000 reported outages over half the state with some taking 24 hours to get back on line..
1/2: maybe a tax write off cause new generator needs to be available for RENTAL PROPERTY?
good to hear you are doing ok and coming home
Drives, I am not sure that the
Tax office would approve the right off but I guess its worth the try
Its sure nice to be at home and in your own surroundings, I slept like a log and woke feeling fantastic. Just a short recap of the last 10 days
I had felt myself getting shorter of breath and increasingly more joint and muscle pain in particular across the shoulders since the last Chemo and after the Immunotherapy.
After spending 5 days in Intensive Care I then spent another 5 in the Medical Wards being tested for everything known to man.
• Stroke.
• Minor heart attack
• Pneumonia
• On oxygen for 7 of those 10 days.
• Infections
The long and the short of it was I had an infection and fluid on the lungs so I have been on a whole bunch of new medication including steroids which have worked a treat, bloods and CT scans are all clear.
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank each and every one for you kind messages of support and prayers for my recovery, its just so humbling let me tell you..
Have a great day and thank you for your visit.
