Drives, thank you.:thumbup::thumbup:

All our air conditioners here are reverse cycle, that is they can heat, cool, dehumidify or can be fan only. I am really pleased with its performance this morning.

It is certainly great to have the install out of the way and the workshop is now back in some semblance of order.

Next on the agenda is prime painting all the Cold Saw parts, every thing has been cleaned and is ready to go.

This week is fairly busy with a full day at work tomorrow training on the new DJI Matrice drone I am looking forward to that let me tell you..:3gears:

Pics to follow...

Wednesday, I have an appointment with an Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist to see what can be done in regard to my Vocal Chord Palsy ( as a result of the Lymph Cancer ) where the vocal chords are not aligned and I have a raspy voice and I believe the fix is an injection of Botox..:eyecrazy::scared:

Thursday is another full day at work so I won't be getting a whole heap of work done in the shed until Friday, any way that's life at the moment..

Thank you for your visit and have a good one..

Nicely done on the AC. You have just made it to the GarageJournal A-list... those with air-conditioned shops that is. :)

All the best with the doctors visit. Ask him to do the brow and lips while he is administering the botox. Throaty new voice and 10 years off your looks to match. Mind you they'd probably make you work full time again. :eyecrazy:

1/2: BEE CAREFUL cause with all these STEROIDS and BOTOX you'll start looking like Arnold Schwarzenegger once you get your weight back. :D

seriously I hope the Dr. has good news for you and even if you do have a little rasp in your voice I bet you'll get used to it and I bet real happy the cancer is gone.

still sending prayers and wishing you the best and envious of the SHED cause you are SO ORGANIZED and now you have AC and HEAT TOO.

cheers

1/2 good luck at the doc office!

will be checking back on Friday for shop updates!

Hope all goes well with the Doc on Wednesday!

Gentlemen thank you.

I will let you know tomorrow after noon how things go, I am unsure as to whether a procedure gets done or this is just an initial consultation..:dunno:..

Ha, I should do that, turning back the clock is a great idea..

Drives, Me look like Arnold Schwarzenegger:lol_hitti:lol_hitti:lol_hitti:

Actually my voice has improved marginally over time and its more annoying than anything else as I can't raise nor project my voice at all which is ever so frustrating.
My Oncologist assured me that the ENT specialist will be able help me out and that it is fixable.... As for being free of cancer that will be a few years down the track before we can finally say its gone but I can only look forward at this point in time, every little improvement is just such a bonus and I do sincerely thank every one for their continual thoughts an prayers:bowdown:

It was fantastic to be able to walk into the Shed Downunder after work today and in a matter of minutes it was down to a very pleasant 72 F from an outside temp of 91 F :rocker:

Praying for good news!

How was the drone practice?

Andy thank you.

I am hoping that things go well too.

Our Drone training was cancelled as or tutor called in sick this morning so it is to be rescheduled for next week..
I had no trouble finding anything to do at work today as it just keeps piling up and I could spend a month of Sundays just catching up but that's life:thumbup:

Thank you one and all, have a good one...

There has definitely been a few weekends I could have used some cooling. At this point simply adding some insulation would likely make a larger difference for me. Pretty much a prerequisite for any tin shed to cut down on the internal radiant heat before you can even begin cooling the air. Was also thinking about adding some venting at the roof peak to optimise convection airflow in summer. :willy_nil

Only problem is where do you stop. I've long since given up caring about cosmetics when I started suffering structural problems. They say lift with the knees but never mention carry heavy stuff with bent elbows. :lol_hitti

My wife still loves quoting me on going grey as "I've decided to upgrade from dirty old brass to stainless!"

Guster, I really need to insulate the workshop area as well and I hear you in regard to the radiant heat.
The office and Model A section is well insulated and maintains its cool pretty well..

The Office and Model A room..

I do have a whirly bird and ceiling fan in the workshop area and the solar panels on the roof do help a lot..

The walls are lined but have little or no insulation..

An older picture of the Workshop area.

View media item 27586
I spend a lot of time in the shed and figure it should be comfortable..

I like your wife's quote..:thumbup::thumbup:

All, the appointment with the Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist went well today and after having a camera feed down my nose to the vocal cords is an experience I could have done without.
Any way the outcome was that the vocal cords are healing well on their own and the recommendation was that no further action is required :rocker::rocker:

Thank you one and all, have a good one..

Steve glad to hear the good news. Looks like it's time to work on the Model A until the comfort level in the rest of the shop gets up to speed. Bobby

Good news from the doctor for sure 1/2Cup. It's always a good thing when the body can heal itself without further intervention. Now I guess it requires more patience on your part but praying your voice returns to normal.

1/2: I woke up this morning and checked GJ on my phone and saw your first picture and honestly thought it was taken in your Dr.'s office. GEESH that is the clean room isn't it? maybe you can keep your job on a part time basis and get paid enough so you can spend more time restoring your Model A?

GREAT NEWS and i'm a fan of letting the body heal itself so good to hear that your Dr. thinks you will.

I just saw on the news that we are going thru a COLD SPELL this week and we are colder than cities up in Alaska (above the artic circle) so enjoy your heat outside and your cool 70 degree Shed.

Bobby. me too..

I just have to get a few of these other projects out of the way first and then I will get stuck into the Model A:thumbup:

Bob,thank you, it is great news plus I did learn a lot as to what was happening in regard to the vocal chords an my raspy voice..

I also found out that the repair job on my nose some forty years ago ( after a motor bike accident ) left no membrane between the left and right nostrils

Unreal:dunno:

Good news on the the doc visit.

xtremek, most definitely as I didn't fancy a needle down my nostril to the left vocal chord to inject Botox.:scared:

Drives, I do like to keep the place tidy and in order. I would most certainly like to have more time particularly on the Model A, so that's not a bad recommendation..

Me to, I would rather let nature take its course and my body heal itself as well.

Heck Drives that is going to be cold, I will enjoy my air conditioned garage..:thumbup:

I fear I was like Drives this morning, looked like a doctor's operating room to me with the patient covered and on a wire wheeled gurney.

"I just have to get a few of these other projects out of the way first and then..." I laughed til I cried:lol:

The body's capacity for healing is amazing. It just needs nutrition.

Andy, I do like to keep things tidy, as in a small shop like mine if I left a mess I would have no where to work in quick time..

Yep you are right I do have to get stuck into the Model A but these other projects keep rearing there ugly heads ( see below ) which I enjoy doing as well;)

I have learnt a lot about the human body over the last few months, stuff that I have always taken for granted and it is truly amazing what it can do..

All, as you know I picked up this Metal Cold Saw a few weeks back in much need of some TLC.

In the new Brobo Corporate colours of course.

Just a few things to tidy up.

. Electrics ( that's a five minute job and is nearly there )

. Fabricate a new stand with castors.

. Waiting on four round knobs for the vise handles.

. There is only one OEM item that I will need and that is the blade Cap Screw and it is a M16 ( with 2mm thread pitch ) x 40 mm long with a left handed thread try and find one of them on EBAY or your local bolt supplies:shocking:
The old beat up one will have to suffice for now..

Thank you one and all, have a good one.

1/2: great job on the old saw. funny without reading your comments i was asking why you might remove the old handle/knob. then I look closer and you've got 4 threaded ends waiting for new knobs/handles and then saw your comments. did you end up replacing the hoses or a lot of other items?

I love it and I bet you have a stand planned for it that will be equally awesome.

I hope it cuts steel as well as you hope it will.

Wow what a transformation, the saw looks great! Very nice result indeed. That will be another fine addition to your shop. And fast work too. You've been busy for sure.

Steve that looks amazing!!!! JOB WELL DONE>

Bret

Bret, thank you.
I am pretty pleased with how it turned out as well:thumbup:

Now you've done it, fixed the saw up too nice to be used. You may as well send it to Don and let him display it in his Big Party Garage.

Andy, yep I am too scared that I will put scratch on it as well:willy_nil

Knowing Don, he most likely has one already..

Bob, thank you..

Once I get into a project I do get very single minded until I finish it, just ask Mrs 1/2 Cup as she will attest to that..

The saw will certainly help many of my future projects down the track..

Sweet job on the saw - now if only you had space for a lathe, you could turn up a left hand thread spindle screw in a jiff...

Ralf99 thank you.

That's the next thing for me as I am rapidly running out of room. I may have to see one of my benches or down size them to accommodate a lathe. As for the saw it will be on castors, this helps.

Saw looks better than new given the care and attention it would have gotten going back together. Nice work!

Sabbath thank you..

You do have to take great care with the reassembly, bearing in mind this thing is real heavy. Andrew ( my eldest ) gave me a hand with that..

oof 1/2 cup your taste in saws is just as good as your taste in welding benches! Cheers

O_M, thank you.

Right tool for the right job, believe me this will be so handy as I usually take most of my steel to work and use their cold saw..

Done nicely to the Full On finish we all know 1/2 does with all his projects.

HOTFR8, thank you

The devil is in the detail. I even found some safety warning decals that really fit the bill yesterday..

Saw looks great.

Transformations are very rewarding.

And if you use it then even better.

Rian, thank you.

As you said this project has been very rewarding to say the least and then ad to that it becomes an extremely useful addition to the work shop.

Spot on work as usual 1/2.

xtremek, thank you.

A labour of luv as are most of my projects..

Nice job Steve. It's going to be hard seeing dust on it!

Bobby thank you .

It will certainly get a cover over it so it doesn't get dust on it..;)

Nice job on the beast 1/2!

Finallygotit, thank you.

We got there in the end..

Thank you one and all I really appreciate your kind words..

Have a great day..

That office does looks tidier than some consultation rooms I’ve been in. Very nice space!

Saw looks great Steve. If this is you taking it easy while you are recovering I seriously don’t want to see you W.O.T.! Maybe that is why it’s 1/2Cup… the carburettor bowl never gets a chance to be half full. :rocker:

That tidy office needs a little lathe then you could have turned that M16 bolt and some knobs days ago. But I’m sure Brobo can send you some. Now the saw is ready you can use it to cut steel for a stand for it.

Guster, thank you..

The Office/Model A room is nice to work in and it cost me ****** all. The suspended ceiling and wall partition's were all left overs that were headed for the dumpster on a building site I was working on many years ago, with the only real costs being the recessed light fittings, insulation and a few sheet of Hardie flex..

Note to file : an engine starts to cough and splutter when the carby bowl is 1/2 empty..

I will keep the Office as it is for the moment as there is little room to fit a lathe. One project that I have on the list is my Storage Solution and that is I want to build three Container Style storage units and install them down the side of the carport..

The plan x 3

This will alleviate all my shed issues.

Plus make great use of the Cold Saw..

PS Andy can you see why I have no time for the Model A?

1/2 Cup,
Well done on the saw!

Jon, thank you..

Detail being 1/2's operative word on any project.

HOTFR8, thank you as well.

I am very humbled by everyone's kind comments.

1/2: I've always loved your work on any project you do, but i have to tell you that your camera work and pictures are right up there at the top too.

can you say what you are taking your pictures with (I use my cell phone now) and how are you posting full size images?

hope you are having a great weekend and thanks for the posting your itemized list of all the things you did to make that old saw shine. have you cut anything with it yet or are you waiting for the new blade or left handed threaded piece?

cheers

Drives, thank you..

I take my pictures with a Fuji Finepix camera then dump them in a folder on my desktop in full size and then resize them using Paint to 850 horizontal X 478 vertical and upload the selected images to my albums..

Having a top Saturday, I did the lawns this morning then I have spent the afternoon fine tuning the cuts on the Cold Saw having taken it apart I didn't realise that there is a lot of work I setting the cut angles just right but we are getting there and as you can appreciate the unit has quite a bit of wear and tear in its life time.
The old bolt will suffice for now until I get a new one, the saw is cutting well.
Thank you for your visit and enjoy your week end as well:thumbup:

1/2: your picture taking sounds like a lot of work, but really it does show the highest of quality when you post them just like your work on your projects always does.

thanks again for taking the time to do that.

I think I recall you taking some steel to work last week to cut so you could have it ready to make up a stand or little table for your new saw? or maybe now that you've re thought it you'll make one of your existing tables the dedicated saw table?

hope you are doing well and it's warming up again up here so we're out of the deep freeze I hope for a while and mid 40's with a little rain is ok for Winter and February.

Drives, editing the pictures as I do is really not a lot of work and is easy to do..

I did take the steel I have to work this morning and cut it there in preference to using my Cold Saw as works has an in feed roller set up ( which mine will have eventually as part of the stand ) which it makes it easier to handle the long lengths.

All's well here.

The weather is very windy here and about 70 F today. We could do with some rain here as its pretty dry now.

Our Drone training has been rescheduled for tomorrow ( fingers crossed ) which I am quite looking forward to..:rocker:

Stay warm and lets hope you are over your run of bad luck with your appliances..
