I am not sure about you guys other halves but when Mrs 1/2 Cup gets an idea in her head she is dangerous, then when she has a tape measure in her hand she becomes lethal.
The one thing in life I really detest is moving furniture, I don't know why but I just do. The one thing Mrs 1/2 Cup is really proficient at is exactly that " moving furniture and rearranging the house.
To paint the picture Mrs 1/2 Cup has quite a collection of antique dolls and is into jewellery making and with that she does not do things by halves so we have to accommodate almost commercial quantities of "stuff".
Short of building a dedicated craft room or "
Lady Cave" getting things to work well in an older home can be quite a challenge at times.
For the most part our home office has been the third bedroom as well as accommodating her jewellery and sewing bits and pieces.
Last week she commented on the
Shed Downunder in so far as just how envious she was of my little slice of garage heaven, now that's a fair call was my immediate thought.
Later that morning after mowing lawns, mandatory Saturday trips to the hardware and tool shops then checking out a few garage sales on the way I returned home to find Mrs 1/2 Cup with a tape measure in her hands.
So long story, short story our third bedroom has now become her craft room, our dinning room is now our home office, we now have a dinning room table in the family room, we have one half of an L shaped chaise lounge from the family room in the lounge room and the other half crammed into the dinning room and her dog show paraphernalia is now housed in the Alfresco outdoor room and garden shed.
The net result, believe it or not, actually works reasonably well. Most of our furnishings are in the Jacobean era, barley twist oak so they all mix and match well.
All this really had me thinking in terms of better utilising the space we have around here and in the shed and the stuff we have accrued over the years. Time to declutter all round,
Shed Downunder included so I have listed a heap of stuff on Gumtree which is like Craigslist, this week with great results thus far.
