1/2: i just mixed 10 80 pound bags of concrete to pour in a form i made for my little furry friend that passed a couple weeks ago. while i'm waiting for it to dry i hopped on GJ for some always good reading and it looks like you had a work day on your day off plus some. i need to get more done now so i'm heading back to clean up and work on getting ORGANIZED.

also even though i only half understand what you and Hotfr8 and your Aussie mates say it's always fun trying to figure out if you are swearing, happy or just poking fun at each other.

keep the post coming and maybe now it's time for that small keg of beer you deserve of course after you feed the pups.

I always enjoy the updates Mate!

Thanks heaps Sean.

My hats off to your productive day. I'm exhausted just reading about all the digging, stacking, loading and unloading, painting etc. You deserve a cold one at the end of this day for sure.

Todays effort at my eldest sons.

Install two ceiling fans.

Remove and replace two power points

Reinstall seven light fittings

Remove and replace four light switches.

Sunday 5.00 am as one does.

And that's why GJ is nothing without pictures!!! Good one and good list accomplished. And you definitely deserved that reward afterward.

Hate to change the thread but I would leave the forms on for at least another day or two. Some of the cement may still be green and it also protects the edges from other work in the area.

AK: thanks for the tips and I've poured a lot of cement and mixed by hand BTW. i understand your concern especially if it's cold or too hot, but i usually pour in 50-80 degrees and 24 hours seems to be about the right time to remove forms for me. that way if i need to make any repairs at the base i can still mud them up and i'm pouring 6 inch thick and a smallish sort of foundation for a monument on this pour that will have plants and dirt on the sides.

here's my front yard before i took two summers to make a little transformation. only power tool was a rototiller to soften up the dirt where all the kids and i had parked for years before putting down 18 yards of topsoil and new sod. all cement mixed by hand and i use 6 inch trex (plastic wood) for my forms so i can put a curve or two in when i want to.

cheers

ALL: i'm thinking of starting a thread in Free Parking for our furry friends when they pass called RIP buddy or something to that effect. do you think that would be appropriate? PM me with your thoughts so we can keep 1/2's thread his own unless he wants to give his input here. or is there already a thread and can you PM me with a link so i can post on it? you see my furry friend inspecting the forms in the picture of the dirt.

After cleaning about 600 bricks here lately, I've learned two things.

A welding hammer works great for removing mortar.

If you're going to hit yourself with a hammer, make sure it's not a welding hammer.

1/2: thanks for the kudos. that little pad I set up and poured to put a monument on is curing nicely. i took my forms off after close to 24 hours from pouring in first 80 pound bag of cement. since i hand mix the cement and don't over water it's pretty solid soon after i get it in the form and smoothed out.

Riv: damn it was even funnier the second time when i read it to my wife. thanks for the great laugh and sorry for your pain if you were the one to learn that lesson. :D:bounce:

Duly noted Rivenn I can feel your pain, I have to fess up to a blackened finger nail from the weekend.
Air chisel for this black duck from now on.

Well deserved kudos drives, I trust the monument works out well. I have a tendency to over do the water in mortar and concrete but are getting the hang of it.

 <--- I'm at work and I did laugh out loud ... people looked

I have to admit it brought a smile to my face Mark only because I have had similar miss adventure and can really relate.;)

Have a great day guys.

1/2: those cars are almost as cool as your old wagon of your grand dad's you have in the carport.

looks like a fun day with cars and family and hope your wife's uncle's car issues are not too expensive to fix.

We had a long weekend out here today to celebrate the Queens birthday, I did a whole heap of nothing much but clean and sort in the Shed Downunder.

Shelby got fairly creative as usual, I guess some of that Civil Engineering training is rubbing off on her. Perfectly vertical and the blue stone put back in place as she buries her bone.

I have spent some time working my sons the MG TF race car this weekend, it looks like the proverbial MG head gasket issues have raised there ugly heads.

Our four new rodents are doing well, upwardly mobile and very feisty.
They are on solid food now with Mum still breast feeding to wash it all down.

1/2: awesome looking group and of course they are champions and posing for a group shot already. your dog has to work hard to find a little dirt on your property and did he really bury it and then cover it up with the blue rocks?

sounds like you are the mechanic for the cool cars so are long test runs usually part of the deal?

nice stuff as per usual and hope it isn't too hard to get the MG back on it's feet.

Thanks guys, the pups are really doing well.

drives, that's all Shelbys work, seriously. She has done it like that on more than one occasion. She is very particular in the way she buries stuff and that's not limited to bones I might add. Quite often she will relocate the Rodents toys and burys them as well.

The MG is a work in progress as we are trying the all the fixes that don't involve lifting the head first and hopefully this approach will pay off first and then its over to Winton Raceway to put in a few laps, fingers crossed..

Have a good one..

1/2: sorry to bother you while you are maybe resting and thinking about your new projects or finishing up the MG or other projects, but missing your positive posts. also i think a week in puppy's lives might have seen them double in size again so do for an update maybe if you can find the camera while chasing them around.

i bet they are running in every direction now and not laying in a pile as often so snap a group shot if you can.

I'm heading to the US Open golf tournament today to watch the pros and best amateurs around the world show me something while they are practicing since the tournament is local to me this year.

our course looks more like a British Open golf course and i'll try to snap a few pictures. even if you and others don't golf the scenery is probably the main reason why i played.

cheers

The notorious K Series headgasket failure - are they really that bad or is it just a problem with the way its mounted in the F causing them to crack the sads? Are you guys running it in a particular class like IPRA or just with a club/on open track days? I eventually plan to dig one of the Geminis out from dads garage and go racing....have looked at the IPRA rule book but the costs involved!!! :shocking:

Thanks for dropping by again drives it has been a tad busy around here lately with the new additions, work and such.

The little rodents are going great, nearly weaned from their mum and really starting to show their individual personalities. They are now about 1.5 kg each now from a birth weight of 140 grams or so.

View media item 51358
They are mastering life's skills really well for example: attitude, free fall gymnastics, lowering their elapsed times running around the front lawn, vandalism, annoying the hell out of the other two Silkies and generally mucking up.

Life hard and butter would not melt in my mouth.

I will post more pics later.

On the shed front ( once again pics to follow ) I have been diddling around with a few projects that have been on the back burner.

Still waiting on the underbench drawer cases that my nephew is doing for me.:willy_nil

Still waiting on the stainless drawer fronts for the above.:willy_nil

Mods to my small welding table, adding a stiffening angle.

Leg Connector plates for our industrial dining table build. I started that last year.:willy_nil
