Being from Africa, I can relate somewhat.

However, right now, the UK is mid-ish winter.... It is 14'C outside.

Mad world.

Still, I would rather BBQ for Christmas than do some roars.

Nicola and I already agreed, no roast, just exotic cheese, crackers and whatever takes our fancy, and some decent steaks when we feel like it. Maybe Boxing Day or even New Year.

You guys have had some pretty horrific weather up there of late Lyndon, were you effected by yesterdays storms?

I for one will be taking it easy and keeping out of the heat as much as you can do. My shed is air conditioned which is really a godsend and I can work in there comfortably. I am up early in any case so I can get stuff done before it gets too uncomfortable but the neighbours do take exception with me mowing my lawns and running the air compressor and die grinder at 5.30 am in the morning.

No, the storms didn't bother us. We are out in the South West, and hardly saw any action at all. The problems were right on the coast near the airport at Kurnell (where James Cook originally set foot on Australian soil ).

We are actually going to get some of the hot air you are due for as well according to last night's weather report. And my garage isn't airconditioned, nor insulated, so it could be a good weekend for reading GJ (and other things) indoors.... Have a safe one.

We do a traditional Christmas here, well let me put it this way traditional as it gets out here any way. All our family get together and each contribute some traditional fair and it is a fantastic day and you are eating left overs for weeks and I am really looking forward to it again when we can all be together again.
The younger generation are really doing a great job keeping up the family tradition.

Great to hear you avoided the storms Lyndon.

I have to fess up to using the work computer as well, anyway we can access the net at lunch time and as I am usually at work by 6.15 am I do have a quick peak then as well.

All in accordance with our policies and procedures of course.

It only got to 102 F (39C) here today so stay tuned for your turn for a few warm days.

One good thing is the Solar panels here do shade the shed roof. About 7-30 this morning the cooler went on in the house. I have the cooler going at work as well as a few fans.

Q.S.T. does not exist at present as it is just so hot. What about you 1/2 Is it too hot to be in the shed?

It is not too bad in the shed at the moment with just a fan on HOTFR8. No doubt the air will be on later.

I have been out to my sons this morning to finish of the kitchen electrical, two power points, one light and connected the new wall oven so I can tick that off the list finally.

I am on leave for the next two weeks, nothing planned but to enjoy Christmas with the family, smelling the roses and what ever takes my fancy.

The MG F cylinder head beckons but not today, last weekends effort was enough till the weather cools it has hit the 40 C today, hot northerly as well.

AC on in the shed at the moment and I have just been tinkering around today, the weekly vac and wipe over benches, clean down spider webs in the office / Model A area that has become a bit of a storage area of late.

Kay , Thank you for dropping by. I agree that we do tend focus on our part of the world at times. The great thing about social media and sites like the GJ is that at the click of a mouse we now have a greater insight as to what is happening any where at any time.

Our 6 am temperature is currently at 86 F / 30 C with a prediction of around 93 F / 34 C for Christmas Day which is pretty much the norm. for this time of year in Australia.

do you have the TO DO list for 2016 already written maybe with a few left over from 2015? also how is the compressor conversation coming along with Mrs. 1/2 and i'm sure there might be some extra dog show trips to get that one to fly?

There is still plenty on my plate for 2016 for sure. I have actually been taking things a little easy over the last few days on the lead up to Christmas which has been great for a change.
I have run some errands for Mrs 1/2 Cup, helping her move furniture and spring clean, washed windows, tended to the garden and lawns, spent some time yesterday sorting out my computer, emails and such getting ready for our connection to the National Broadband Network which should happen next week, taking Shelby for a walk daily and smelling the roses - literally.
We went out to lunch on Sunday with my youngest sister as she will be away for our family Christmas get together.

I did mange to get the compressor working again, it tripped a circuit breaker in the shed due to the start switch gear in the motor sticking which was an easy fix, that said I will replace it in the not to distant future and Mrs 1/2 Cup agrees as she uses it as well to pressure clean all her dust collecting floral arrangements and such inside the house as she cleans.

You will have to put up with me for a while yet and have a great day

As disconcerting as it was to have them happen on the longest and warmest, the two Christmas and New Year holidays we celebrated in Manly were among the best of my life. In the event you haven't tried it, I found December and January are a wonderful time to work in Australia. My commute time was cut in half those months (Queensland in July was a more appealing work break for us).

I have to admit putting my head down and closing my eyes for a moment after lunch yesterday. It got to about 34 C / 93 F here yesterday it wasn't too bad as my sisters outdoor entertaining area has a number of fans and all the young ones were entertaining themselves on a water slide under the trees, with the odd water bomb and hoses getting put to good use.

I woke this morning to rain which we haven't see for a month or so here and I can assure you its very refreshing all round.
