HOTFR8 thanks for the update.

It has been a few years since I have been to the Ballarat Swap, it is huge by any standard.
We have flown down there a couple of times, being close to the airport it is real handy and you don't have to walk miles just to get in the gate.

I was there too, 9.5 hrs on Friday, 33000 steps, 25 km walking. Then back on Sat morning for another few hours before driving back to Melbourne to fly home.

I don't think the dust was any worse than it has been in the past at the old site. We were very happy with the weather though, even with a bit of breeze.

Yes I picked up a few bits to go towards the Indian project. However while traversing the bottom section (away from the motorcycle area) in the afternoon a new stall holder arrived in the motorcycle area and had a load of stuff that would have been good for me but by the time I found him he was nearly cleaned out

Did you go on a WALKABOUT. GEEESH that's a lot of steps. I walked 15,000 steps one day in Las Vegas a few months ago and I thought i'd walked across the city.

They are all candidates for sure, I still always get a laugh and have the Castle and the adventures of Russell Quoit on DVD.

Our DIL is South African and they were the first things we gave her as her formal Introduction to the family, so she now has an appreciation of what the Pool room means to a bloke.

To top that off at our first Christmas family get together the traditional Lamingtons were brought out with coffee ( and I must say they are to die for ) and she was offered one and promptly said " No thank you, I don't really like Lamingtons" and you have never seen some 40 raucous people go into deadly silence in an instant.
Fortunately we have been able to rehabilitate her in to loving Lamingtons and is now a proud and an accepted member of our family.

I have pictures to prove it and that goes into the family album for sure.

I googled Ranger and found a YouTube show because I don't think we get his show here on any of our stations. i'm sure my kids can probably teach me how to get it though. for now i'll watch on youtube and see if I can keep up.

drives I weigh in at around 180 and sure I could lose a couple of pounds, we have a good balanced diet and it is not always Vanilla Slices, Lamingtons and Beer I can assure you.

I do enjoy a nice Red wine or a Scotch and dry as well but everything in moderation.

I am pretty active at home, where as at work ( like now 6.30 am) I am for the most part stuck behind a computer although the last three days I have been out of office doing electrical safety inspections that have involved a lot of walking.

For the most part I would easily crack the 10,000 steps per day on the weekends.

I seemed to keep my weight pretty steady before I was married, but 5 kid's plates to clean and a wife that is a great cook added on the pounds pretty quick. when I hit 240 and 250 was what the scale read with my clothes on shortly after I almost had a heart attack moving some tools I said ENOUGH and a few months later started that Weight Loss thread that keeps me going and so far has helped a few other members too. I weighed 222 this morning so still a ways to go, but i'm trying to kick the SWEET tooth like DLC is trying to quit smoking.

So you mentioned you were a pilot. do you own your own plane? have you ever went up in glider? I just watched a HOW"S IT MADE where they made a glider and it looks like you can buy them with engines in them now to get up and going or for back up.

My Dad did own a Cessna 150 and you are right you can get gliders with an engine. I have never been up in one and that is something on the bucket list, however I have converted a perfectly serviceable aircraft into a glider by cutting the power and then looking for a landing site so I do have a feel as to what it would be like.

The day has been busy thus far and is show no let up.

Speaking of the Shed Downunder that reminds me of something I have not shared as yet.

Chapter one of a long saga

Mrs 1/2 Cup ( in her infinite wisdom ) has been actively looking at selling here and moving into a home that better suits our needs in terms of a little more space and elbow room for the both of us.

Naturally that would mean a bigger shed/s.

I made the point to her that any new place would have to be substantially better than where we are currently and that meant it had to include all the features like solar, three phase power, refrigerated air conditioning, bigger shed/workshop, town water, natural gas etc etc.

Conditionally I also reminded her that:

1. I was not going to do another project here which included the Storage Solution until she got this bee out of her bonnet.

2. I did not want to start all over again, period! as I am getting a little long in the tooth to do so.


Mrs 1/2 Cups search went far and wide and finally the realisation struck home to achieve all of the above I would have to work until I was in my nineties and double my salary to achieve what she was aiming for.

To be continued after I have had another beer or two.

1/2, would your brother let you stick a container or 2 out at his place? Might be able to shuffle some deep storage that way if you and Mrs 1/2 cup end up staying put...

Immediate downside is you will always then need something that you have stored there.

I agree it would take some effort to rebuild another location up to where you need it that met your standard if one was to relocate.

1/2, I'm with you on that one. I haven't even finished what I have to do where I am now. I wouldn't want to start over somewhere else.

I'm still grappling with strewth. I'm a little slow. Explained well, but it would make more sense if it were an abbreviation of words like "it's truth" Not my place to say what's right with it, or wrong with it. I'm not an Aussie and am not supposed to get it.

Oh and while you guys say beer o'clock, we actually say beer thirty. Maybe because it is half past beer o'clock, and needs to be addressed before it gets much later. Have a great day and have a cold one for me when it gets to beer o'clock.

Okay, I just went online to Wikipedia and it makes more sense to me now. Kind of like adding "******" to a sentence. Just emphasis to a word or term.???? I guess. 1/2: i doubt anybody could build a place as nice as you, but there must be good builders down under if you found a nice piece of land?

with all those dogs the downside i see is they don't have huge amount of places to run and ****. is there any vacant land next to you to purchase? i bet not because if there was i'm guessing you would have bought it already.

i'm looking forward to a new place to have all my STUFF in one place, but our little rambler with a decent water view is almost perfect size now that the 5 kids have all moved on. my wife just mentioned the other day that we should buy the place across the street where the widow is getting up in age, but i hate the idea of paying for a house to just bulldoze it to get a lot that is still too small.

DLC & All: i'm also guessing those here with 9am to 5pm jobs took maybe 30 minutes to get home hence the Beer thirty starting at 5:30. I've heard it both ways and of course the dependable if you are drinking at 8am was saying that it's 5:00 someplace on earth isn't it.
