We'll be here waiting for the newest addition. He'll be here when it's time. And I think Andy gave us a good run down on the tools. I was hoping that Bobby might chime in also. I think he's probably been around them and seen them in action if not used them himself.

All the best on the wait...

Waiting patiently, I'm sure.:willy_nil

Thank you gentlemen..

Still no news on Grandson No # 3 over night so we will be waiting on the Midwifes visit this afternoon to see what the go is moving forward..

Have a great day, its work o' clock now...

1/2: normally a great sign when babies are in mama's womb a bit longer than scheduled, but still crossing fingers and toes.

i totally agree with the others that i need to PAY ATTENTION to your yard cause you set the bar up high. it looks great.

all the best during the wait. maybe a little plasma or drone time to keep your mind busy?

drives, agree. We are still awaiting the outcome of the Midwifes visit as I type this. We are hoping all goes well too.

Thank you, we do love our garden, its plain, simple and easy care. Mrs 1/2 Cup and I were only discussing some changes the other day that she would like, but its just about finding the time to do it at the moment here.

Never fear I have plenty to keep my mind busy both at home and here at work, actually its been hard to find hours in my work day to fit in the plasma or the drone these last couple of weeks, but any way we will get there..

Thank you again and have a great day..

1/2 cup, you need to tell her that you'll do the garden as soon as the Model A is on the road... Bet you get some encouragement to get it done then!

I really like your front fence Steve.

There are serious limitations on front fences here in Canberra, so you don't see that sort of thing here.

Those restrictions have caused me some pain, because as discussed in my thread, the back of my house is technically the front of my house. So my "back fence" falls under the rules for a front fence.

Can you open your gate in the photo above with a remote control button, or is it one of those ones where you need to get out of the car?

Either way...

Looking forward to good news about #3 mate

Andrew, I am not so sure that that would go down too well at the moment..:lol_hitti

Hmmmm... the Model A could be on the road in the buyer's truck:willy_nil:willy_nil

I'll bet Mrs. 1/2 could make it happen.

Andy, the Model A is here to stay let me tell you;)

Some things in life are just not negotiable:lol_hitti

Thank you Mat, with the front fence I just had to go through the process with council approvals as painful as it was but we got there in the end.
With the final inspection the building inspector was more interested I how many smoke detectors we had, go figure that one.:willy_nil

With the gates I have made provision for remotes but that's another project for another day.:willy_nil

All, the Midwife visit today went well both Amy and Grandson No #3 are doing well or be it a week and a bit overdue.

No ETA as yet.:dunno:

PS it will happen when it happens..

Side note and totally off topic: my 84 yo Dad rang today to see how things were going with Amy and to inform me that he has finally worked out how to get onto Youtube on his PC all by himself, just awesome and watch this space...

Thank you one and all, have a good one..

1/2: i'm still here turning blue cause fingers and toes have been crossed for a very long time. Best of luck with that.

i liked the comment from Metalhead and had to laugh. he definitely doesn't have a clue what Mrs. 1/2 Cup is all about. you manage that situation nicely and i commend you for another job WELL DONE.

speaking of your Dad using his computer i taught my 84 year old parents how to Google and pay bills online, but with their old memories failing I need to double check cause they've tried to pay more than one bill twice or the wrong (too much) amount. happy to hear he likes Youtube and i can't tell you how many things i've learned on there. I hope you dad doesn't get any viruses and enjoys the positives about using a computer.

cheers and still thinking that Grandson's first or second name is going to be STEVE(N), but maybe it's grampa's turn or some other great guy's name your kids like.

drives, Thank you, when Mrs 1/2 Cup gets a bee in her bonnet she doesn't let go of it let me tell you.:shocking:

I am really proud of Dad actually progressing this far, my sister keeps a close eye on his internet activities and regularly steers him in the right direction..

There is a proud tradition when it come to the naming convention within the family, ultimately it is up to Andrew and Amy to decide and I respect that totally.

PS I do know that Grandson No #3 will not be called 1/2 Cup. ;)

Speaking of drones, one bloke recently used one to pick up a sausage sizzle from Bunnings while relaxing in his bath! news link

hewey, I laughed my head off when I saw that one :lol_hitti

I won't share that at work or we will be grounded for sure as I have a reputation for supporting and taste testing the sausage sizzle at Bunnings most weekends.

https://www.bunnings.com.au/about-us/in-the-community/local-community-support

All,

Just a quick update:

The MGF :

. Andrew has began the process of removing the "old" engine.

. The "new" engine has been on hold some what as events unfold.

. The plasma at work, been to busy with other stuff to even go there.

. Under bench drawers for the Go to Bench, still waiting on the stainless steel drawer fronts.

. West Wing, we have settled on a new ducted evaporative system that will work with the existing split and will be installed next week.

. Property Management has been all sorted and contracts to be signed off this week.

. The Solar system, I just checked and we generated nearly 38 kwh today..

Thank you one and all yet again..:thumbup::thumbup:

1/2: I agree 1/2 Cup might not be a good boy's name. :D

I uncrossed my fingers and toes for a few hours to get some blood in them again and my BIL and I installed a new front door. since i suggested putting a piece of steel on the frame my BIL said he'd cut it if i had one. when i brought him a piece of 5/16 instead of 1/8 like he was thinking he didn't complain and just went to hardware store to buy a few blades.

in any case the new door is finally in now. i still need to paint the trim and finish the trim on the inside, but I think it looks pretty good.

what do you think of this piece of steel addition?

cheers and hope you have another great day.

BTW BIL doesn't clock his screws, but he has a great attitude about work and most of the quality touches so i didn't mention it and i may or may not clock them later.

Not that you do a lot of woodworking, but i convinced one of our members (Jim Reed) that we need a WOODWORKING 101 thread so in case you might want to support it and share your wisdom or learn more it will be in general tools section. good idea??

TODAY THE DAY FOR GRANDSON #3??

drives, no news on Grandson No # 3 overnight.

Top job on the front door, done well.

The steel plate is a great idea, as you have strengthened the weakest area of the door jamb, you will not smash it in in a hurry...

A dedicated Woodworking thread would be a fantastic idea as there is some very skilled woodworking members on the GJ...

Lot's of good progress going on at your place 1/2 Cup in all areas. You folks are pretty busy lately.

rmalkow, there is stuff happening all the time and never a dull moment around this neck of the woods let me tell you..

Thank you one and all for your visit... have a great day..

I've been away far too long. I've been checking in from time to time to try to keep up so I won't have to read so much ...

1/2, you guys must be sitting on pins and needles waiting for grandson #3! He is taking his sweet time about coming home!

PS I do know that Grandson No #3 will not be called 1/2 Cup. ;)

This is probably a good thing that he won't be named "1/2 Cup"... as you know when your cup is only 1/2 full you might need a different size bra ... or on the other hand a 1/2 full athletic cup might be cause for concern.:lol::lol:

Sorry 1/2! Couldn't resist!:bounce:

Drives, nice looking door and the security plate is top notch. I'll be checking out the Woodworking 101 thread but you might want to change the link in your sig as it still points to the Safety 101 thread!

Cheers everyone!

1/2 cup. I missed out saying how beautiful the roses are covering your house. I'm envious. Are this weekends plans being left to "subject to change" due to the anticipated arrival of the little one? I'm sure you'll still have your large to do list anyway.

Drives, great job. See, you're not all thumbs.

Have a great weekend all. And hopefully there'll be a new one to hear about come Monday.

Dan, thank you very much, Our roses are looking the best we have seen for many a year.

No real plans at this point in time for this week end and they are definitely subject to change without notice, that said I still have plenty to do.

I arrived home from work last night and Mrs ½ Cup informed me that here sister and niece will be staying tonight in the West Wing, they are paying a flying visit on their way to one of Our Premier Boat races the E.C. Griffith Cup at Yarrawonga on Sunday.

http://www.vsbc.org.au/E C Griffith Cup.html

http://www.yarrawongamulwala.com.au/

So what I undid a few weeks ago for when the kids visited has to get reinstated.:willy_nil

The West Wing is well on its way to becoming a B&B.:headscrat

No news this morning on Grandson No. #3.

PS: Our drone arrived back at work this week after the repairs following its untimely “ mechanical failure “ incident. So it looks like we will be back in the skies next week…

Thank you for your visit and have a good one.

The weekend is nearly here..:3gears:

Steve, I'm not sure why but going over 50 mph in a boat feels faster than going 100 mph in a car, at least to me.

Glad there's no pressure -- instant B&B-ing the West Wing while leaning toward the hospital -- we're all thinking of you and yours.

BobIt sure does, in our early years we were into Ski Racing big time and my brother did the Southern 80 for many years. Mrs 1/2 Cups family come from a boat racing back ground as well..

No pressure Grandson No #3 will arrive when he is good and ready, my only wish is that the two prospective grand mothers would realise this..:headscrat

Thank you:thumbup:, we have done all we can at this point and letting nature do the rest..

Sub, thank you so much...

Andrew and Amy called by tonight and they have a Midwife appointment tomorrow just to check how things are progressing. To be honest the last few weeks have been the longest. All is well...

9 days overdue and counting..

You'll be in trouble when the property manager rents the West Wing. You'll have to find another B&B.

Andy, that's easy the home to the East of us is for sale as well and has been for a number of years now.;)

1/2: while i'm sure your relatives are very happy to have their own home to stay at when visiting you and Mrs. 1/2 i bet that your tool budget might get slimmed down quite a bit if it doesn't start bringing in a little income. i'm not sure how long a flight is or more importantly the expense to fly to your neck of the woods for me and my bride, but it's not in cards for us this year. Australia and New Zealand is on our list though. as my daughter is moving out maybe next spring we might actually have a guest room set up and the idea of us staying since we can't find much of anything better keeps looking like a garage and upper floor addition is more likely. i still like the idea of a B&B and the guest list and book from the GJ members with their comments would be a thing of beauty.

as you can see the view from upstairs isn't all bad. my BIL stopped by yesterday to help me and good thing the weather was nice because a simple caulking job took on a whole new look. water does do some damage when it gets inside your home.

cheers and again i hear you about Grandson #3's situation and i'm still crossing my fingers and toes when i'm not working on my house. if you want a few more skylight pics i posted a few on the new Woodworking 101 thread.

take care

drives, the West Wing
has come in under our original budget so far, so we are pretty pleased about that, as for the time line we are not too stressed about that. Its more about getting things right in the first instance.

The ducted air conditioning gets installed next week and seeing the shed is not part of the rental deal we are investing in a carport. I have a contractor coming to give us a quote this morning actually.

No news overnight for Grandson No. # 3

It is a strange feeling when all your kids have left the nest let me tell you..

Certainly we would be looking forward to your visit Downunder, I am positive you would enjoy..

Given the views you have:thumbup: a second floor addition would be just awesome and a real value add..

Your BIL has done a great job.. there is always stuff to do when you own a home, it just never ends.. that reminds me I need to replace the front door hinge here in the not to distant future..

Woodwork 101 here I come...

Have a great weekend..

All,

Andrew and Amy had the Midwife visit today, all is well and it is looking like Monday or Tuesday for Grandson No. #3:dunno:

Your guess is as good as mine..

No To Do List again this weekend we just went with the flow..

I spent most of the day in the West Wing:

. Blocked off the open fire place in the lounge as per the recommendation of the property manager.
. Fitted two phone outlets.
. GV Carports came this morning to look at a veranda extension to the shed.

http://www.gvcarports.com.au/

. The side decking really needs a hand rail around it so I investigated what some options in that space.

. Mrs 1/2 Cups sister and niece were suitably impressed with the West Wing and the attention to detail that she went too so they look like coming back for a second nights stay.

. Picked up 5 straw bales and some Dynamic Lifter for our orange tree which is just about due for a good feed..

http://www.yates.com.au/products/or...ifter-organic-plant-food/#4Hjzm0hvZz8KWjqo.97

I am Mr Popularity around the neighbourhood when I do this as the smell of pelletised chook poo brings tears to your eyes for a couple of days.:dunno:

Anyway its Oçlock some where..

Enjoy your weekend..

No offer on the East Wing? (don't answer that)

The time to buy is before the obnoxious new neighbors move in:willy_nil:willy_nil

I really like playing Monopoly, as I call it, buying up adjacent properties.

Andy, I will answer that, in short NO.;) not yet anyway..

Actually I did bid against the current owner some 10 years ago when the property went up for auction. Even at that time I felt it was a little pricey and I bid over the limit I had set myself...;)

The house is almost a cut and paste of ours.

The block was subsequently strata titled and a unit built out the back.

Even though its had a make over, there is still quite a few $$ to be spent on it.

Its listing price is way above market value for this area.

The current tenants are good neighbours so there are no issues at the moment..

Thanks for dropping by and have a great day..

Kicking back ! It has been full on here or I should say event wise. Even with all the rain we have had again. Mind you if it had not been so busy I would have been kicking back as well.

HOTFR8, you get those week ends at times.

Its been wet, cold and windy here all day, we had Mrs 1/2 Cups sister and niece here for a fair part of the day as it was too windy for the boat races at Yarrawonga however it was great to catch up..

http://www.visitvictoria.com/Regions/The-Murray

We don't see them all that often as they are from Sale, about a six hour drive from here.

I mooched around in the shed for a fair part of the day, cleaning, vaccuming and sorting stuff. I also installed a couple of extra power points that I had been putting off for years now.

I finally got the Orange tree in the front yard fertilised and mulched ready for summer.. the neighbours love me as the smell of Dynamic Lifter lingers for days..:shocking:

No news on Grandson No. 3 #, it seems like he is fairly content where he is..

Have a good one and thank you for your visit..

1/2: #3 is certainly taking his sweet time and hope your DIL is doing ok cause i'm sure he's getting big. i'm turning purple with fingers and toes crossed, but still praying that everything goes smoothly.

nice work in the Shed and good to get a few bits and pieces sorted out.

did that 7.8 earthquake in New Zealand that i heard had a Tsunami too effect you or any of your friends or work related stuff? sounded pretty bad.

hope all is well in the land down under. is OZ a term used for Australia or is that another area or country?

drives, thank you. no Grandson No.# 3 news over night.

Its always great to get those little projects out of the way that have been on the back burner for far to long and it can make a huge difference to the way you work in your shed.

We are waking up to news this morning that an earth quake has hit Christchurch in New Zealand.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-11-13/earthquake-hits-near-christchurch-generating-tsunami/8021922

From all accounts it was pretty powerful and very intense and sadly with two dead at this point in time.

I trust all our Kiwi members are safe and well.

Oz, Aussie, Okker are all used exclusively in Australia...

Thank you for your visit and have a great Day....

1/2: congrats on Aiden Robert's arrival and sounds like little brother might have a fighting chance with an older brother in his house. mom delivering a 9 pound baby must be a bit sore so good to hear she is doing ok too. WELL DONE and congrats to your kids.
