drives, one can only hope that the right assessment has been made in regards to a tenant. The Property Manager has done a great job and has communicated very well.
Right from the start of our journey the main aim has been to make a house a home with out blowing the budget or over capitalizing on it. To that end we have achieved that goal.

Simple things and attention to detail can make a huge difference.

Thank you for your visit and have a good one..

even though a few have gone east

That's a new phrase on me. When things go sour around here we often say "it's gone south". Are ya'll 90 degrees off?

Congratulations on the rental:thumbup:

When the money starts to roll in we expect to see lots of shed improvements.:willy_nil

Glad the Mrs it experiencing a rapid recovery:thumbup::thumbup:

Andy, no we have to agree to disagree on that one, you guys are to the East of downunder ( well almost ) so I was just putting it in context...:lol_hitti

We had the Property Manger do a detailed condition assessment this afternoon and handed over the keys which all went well

Never fear the Shed improvements are already on the to do list when I get rid of one certain ( make that 2 ) MGF Rover K Series projects out of the way..:3gears:

Mrs 1/2 Cup knee recovery is doing well all with out any intervention:thumbup:
Now she has to have one of her wisdom teeth out on Monday now I know why she has been a bit grumpy of late..:willy_nil

Any way the week end is beaconing:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Holy cow! With that kind of pain, you're lucky you're still in one piece. I hope she's not the sneaky revenge type. Time to buy her lots of whatever she likes.

:D

Finallygotit, :lol_hitti

No she's pretty good like that. Out of sight out of mind is a good policy to have let me tell you. Maybe that's why I get so much done in the Shed and West Wing..;)

Thank you for your visit and have a good one..

1/2: i had 4 impacted wisdom teeth pulled at the same time when i was 32. the dental work went off without a hitch, but the empty stomach taking pain pills didn't so make sure she eats something before taking them if possible.

i know this might be old news to you boys down under, but i found this video where a car hits the wall and flips and he wins the race. also thinking the race might be from your area by the sounds of the announcer. man what a pretty car to see wreck.

http://gtspeed.us/2016/11/23/watch-this-guy-crash-hard-into-a-corner-and-win-the-race/

have you met the tenants in person now that you had your property manager hang them from their toes and shake all their change loose? hoping for the best in both a good tenant and a good neighbor. maybe a new trainee for the TWO SHEDS?

drives, rule of thumb, you should never take pain killers on an empty stomach.
Mrs 1/2 Cup and her mother (ex nurse) for that matter are Google doctors so there is always a diagnosis to any ailment.:headscrat

I did see that crash on TV actually, that is just one lucky escape and Steve has summed it up below.

Now that's scary I would have not liked to be in that situation..Its testimony to the safety and engineering that goes into to race cars these days.

To answer your question - no we have not met the new tenants as yet but a little independent back ground research of my own has been positive so far. With just a week left to go before occupancy its all systems go.. The keys were handed to the Property Manager yesterday..

Fingers crossed.. we have done all we can do at this point..

1/2, glad to see things going well at your end. Enjoy!

Terrick, thank you very much, things are ticking over well at the moment..

This race was at Macau as part of the FIA GT World Cup, so the announcer is probably European/English

Steve, thanks for the clarification.

Its Friday night and I haven't given a thought of the To Do List so I need to ponder that one..:headscrat

Watch this space..

Again a big thank you to one and all for your visit and have a good one..

JB, no apologies necessary:thumbup:

And thank you:thumbup:

It has been a little hectic here of late, there is just not enough hours in the day and even on the GJ as it can be a little hard to keep up as well with so much going on..

You too, have a good one..

1/2,

Glad the mrs. is on the mend.

Congrats on the tenant and the puppies!

I understand missing the flying. I used to be a commercial pilot with some fun times in the weekends flying YAKs. Somewhere life took a different turn.

Hope to get back behind the stick one day!

You're not whistling Dixie there 1/2cup, I couldn't agree more. :willy_nil

Mark, Who me...........never ;)

The GJ is just so active and it is not an easy task to keep up to date with all that goes on here. I am just so fascinated with all the ideas, inspiration and awesome stuff that happens here..

Niels, thank you for dropping by.

Mrs 1/2 Cup is doing well, still taking things a bit carefully I might add..

The pups are just starting to open their eyes now an putting on weight like you wouldn't believe.

Commercial pilot unreal..:thumbup: :thumbup::thumbup:

What aircraft types have you flown?

We have lots of YAKs out here and they would certainly be a great aircraft to fly with out doubt.

I am working towards getting back in the air myself, last weekend really got me going..

Wow! Didn't know you guys knew how to "whistle Dixie"!

"I wish I were in the land of cotton..."

Ranks right up there with "God Save the Queen" and "To Anacreon in Heaven" as my favourite tunes!

Andy, you would be surprised what we know in the land Downunder then conversely
what we don't know ( speaking about myself here ):lol_hitti

All,

In the absence of my To Do List I spent the morning in the West Wing basically demobilising the home in readiness for the new tenants next week..

The afternoon was filled with in interrupted Quality Shed Time ( QTS ):3gears:

With the main focus being the Rover K Series

. Completed all the new ancillary bits to the new engine, oil filter, oil pressure switch, oil pressure transducer, coolant temp switch, coolant temperature transducer, crank angle sensor, cooling system plumbing and the like.

. I also started stripping down the old engine ancillaries, brackets, wiring harness then cleaning and modifying it as required all in readiness to be used on the new engine.

. I have to say that I have never seen so many sensors and switches on a engine, just mind boggling:willy_nil

I am hoping that today will be a repeat of today...

Again thank you one and all, have a top weekend.

Hi 1/2,

I probably have more hours on the Cessna 206 and the 208 (grand caravan) than anything else.

Largest I flew was the beach 1900d. Favorite commercially the beach 200 king air.

I have most of the single engine Cessna's on my ticket and a great many pipers including the super cub. I like tail draggers. All in all I think I had some fifty types by the time I stopped flying. Including the Aussie built jabiru 400. Which is good fun to fly.

All, its amazing what you can get done with uninterrupted QTS.

Giving the garden and lawns a miss apart from watering has been pretty productive in the Shed Downunder.

That was last night, so the Rover K Series is nearly ready to be removed from the sub frame...

Well look at the pretty engines all line up. The Shed Downunder is starting to look like the Racing Motor Works Downunder. Very cool! Glad you are getting some quality time there.

Thanks guys.

I guess that means another plasma cut sign for the shed..;)

I has been one enjoyable weekend in the Shed Downunder let me tell you.

The engine is out of its frame and I have relegated Andrew to remove all the superfluous bits and pieces from here and then he has a fair bit of cleaning to do ( at his shed ) before they come back here for final assembly..

Have a great day and thanks for your visit..

1/2, congrats on the weekend progress and tenants. It's always easier to get back to the grind when your time off was enjoyable.

I didn't think you guys had things that went East or South or knew about Whistling Dixie.

I also think you made the right choice to have Andrew doing the "dirty work" at his shed.

Enjoy your upcoming week.

Never fear, things can go South very easily here being closer to the South pole..

Whistling Dixie is a common one out here..

Andrew has a trailer load now to clean before it comes back here, there is no way I was letting him do it here, he is to put it nicely a tad messy when he does stuff like that and guess who has to clean up after him.........not this time..

K Series is looking good 1/2 cup...

Thank you Andrew, the Rover K Series a complicated arrangement, not at all like a Mini that I am used to.

And everybody knows what "Whistling Dixie" means, I presume? Nothing hard after you know the song.

A loving father does the dirty work.

Andy, we certainly do know the meaning, even Downunder.

As for a father doing the dirty work, well that depends on how you view world..:lol_hitti

Have a good one and thank for your visit.:)

1/2: speaking of Andrew's engine is it going to go in his car without any modifications to the frame or making new mounts for it?

Andrew must be quite busy with 2 little boys and a new engine and racing hobby? he's learned from the best that is for certain.

any new pictures of the new RODENTS? any names yet or did i miss that? or many you wait to name them until they open their eyes and start roaming the Shed's grounds.

congrats on getting the tenant situation figured out and really hope it works as it is designed or maybe better.

nicely done mailing a few of those Ford signs out to members that maybe they were made for in the first place!!

cheers

Drives, thank you yet again..

The Rover K Series is getting nearly a full makeover and freshen up and about the only thing that will not have anything major done to it apart from a service will be the close ratio gearbox that went in earlier this year.

Here is a breakdown of what has been and some of what will be done:

Engine;

New liners, Omega pistons & Maxspeed rods.
Upgraded oil rail.
New oil pump and then modified the galleries for better flow..
Water pump and all new plumbing.
Bearings, seals & gaskets.
New lightened flywheel and clutch assembly.
New harmonic balancer.
New knife edge billet crankshaft.
Balanced all reciprocating components.
Oversized valves.
Bronze valve guides.
Mechanical lifters.
Piper camshafts.
Port and polish cylinder head.
Vernier cam timing gears & timing belt and tensioner.
Replaced all ancillary things like stretch bolts, gaskets, sensors, transducers & pressure switches.
Coat exhaust extractors.

The sub frame:

New Janspeed fully welded unit.
New engine stabilizer bushes.
New engine mounts.
Full adjustable suspension arms.
New wheel bearings.
Replace drive shafts.
New sub frame solid mounts.

Andrew is one busy lad, with young Aiden taking priority at the moment. BTW who is doing really well.

Bear in mind that this is my first Rover K Series build, so it has been a steep learning curve for me as well.

The # Gen 2 rodents are still fairly docile, just finding their legs and are growing at a rapid rate. It will be a few weeks before they are under foot and discovering the garden.

I will endeavor to get some pics of the pups up this week. We have not named them as yet as the Breeder usually likes to do this.

The West Wing is ready to go apart from detailing the lawns later this week. I basically demobilized the home on the weekend removing all our goods and chattels and replaced the drawer runners on the dishwasher last night.

The Ford Scripts were just a spur of the moment thing really as you do, I am just so pleased that I was in a position to do so..

Have a great day and I thank you for your visit..

That looks great Steve, did you do it yourself, or outsource it?

If you did it yourself, was it hard to put down? Where did you source the paint and the flakey bits?

Mat, I had a mate of mine do it, he does it full time as a business.

Sandblasting for both the front and rear verandas took an hour 1/2 ( highly recommended )

The whole job was done in under a day, it is a textured non slip finish with a couple of coats of clear applied in successive days.

To be honest I am not sure what was used and where it was sourced from.:dunno:

Total cost was about $900 all up.

Sorry I couldn't be more help but here is a link that may help.

The spare time you use for polishing your copper pipes.

Oh, that's a necessity so it's not spare time activity, eh?

Andy, you are on to it.

I will let you on to a little dark secret of mine which may explain things some what..

My Mum who passed away some 10 years ago now was a terribly proud of keeping a clean home, detail, detail plus, from cobwebs to a weed in the garden she was on to it.

She used to even polish every brass tap around our childhood home which came from her childhood upbringing and I guess that's where my OCD came from..:dunno:

She set the bar very high for all of us..

Note to file: 1/2 Cup post a pic of my garden taps some day..

Have a great day and thanks again..

That's why some of us are clean freaks and others are just plain slobs. My wife has a mother much like yours was 1/2 cup. She is crazy clean. She couldn't leave the house with as much as a dish in the sink or dish strainer for fear that a burglar might break in and think she was a messy housekeeper. It is a great asset for one to have. I am not that CDO myself, but can not stand a mess. When oil or antifreeze is spilled on the floor of my garage, my brain will not allow me to do anything until it has been cleaned up. The other guys in the shop laugh at me and make comments like" I know, you just washed the floor yesterday", but for me it is a problem that must have immediate attention. I will say that until I came aboard this thread, I WAS NOT into clocking screws. And thank you very little for starting that practice in my life.:eyecrazy:

Have a great day.

I so enjoy dropping by here every weeks or so to catch up on all the interesting projects, both your and those shared: This time, race engines, airplanes, sidewalk coatings, never ceases to amaze me.

Really enjoyed the airplane talk and shares. I have a problem with motion sickness in turbulent air, and because of that, I never pursued a pilot's license of even kept a logbook, even though probably have a couple of hundred hours of dual time in a large variety of aircraft and gliders. My best friend from middle school has a resume much like that of Niels': Commercial airline pilot and instructor, civilian Master Instructor, has flown 737, 747, 777, A-320, Md-80, DC-9, virtually everything from Piper up to a Pawnee and Cessnas up to a 210, Luscombe, Starduster II,various gliders both single and dual, has a seaplane rating. In the Navy he flew a T2 Buckeye and an A-4 Skyhawk and was carrier qualified. He currently owns and flies a Vans RV6-7 ( Kind of a hybrid of the two). He has truly enjoyed his avocation while earning a nice living doing something he truly loves and is excellent at. He has shared his knowledge by teaching hundreds of others the joy of flying. Old age( he's a few months younger than me and a loss of hearing) may soon force him into medical retirement from United after 19 years there. It's definitely much fun. I hope you have the time to get back into your dad's plane soon.
