1/2,

I just wanted to say thank you for sharing your projects and life with us.

It's threads like yours that make garage journal feel like the home and family that it is.

To you, Mrs 1/2, the rodents, kids, grandkids and those you hold dear, a very merry Christmas and a great 2017!

All,

That it, no more work for the next two weeks.:3gears:

Time to unwind.

This week we managed two training flights with the drone at work. This was a welcome break from sitting behind a computer, meetings and emails let me tell you.

We took the opportunity as the weather and wind were ideal for flying.

An older pic.

View media item 61431
https://www.sensefly.com/drones/albris.html

The aim of the training was basically just to clock up enough hours to tick the boxes to formally apply for an endorsement on my pilots licence. I have about 1.15 hours to go at this point in time.

We completed two autonomous flights with pre determined missions and lots of interactive flying just to gain confidence and put the bird through its paces.

Weather permitting we have slotted in more flying for the first week back at work after the holidays..

At this point we haven't processed any of the images, videos and thermography, that can wait till I return to work..

Yet again thank you one and all for your visit..

Congratulations on the accumulation of flight time!

But more so, congratulations on the time off to rest your brain and reflect on the year that has been and on those to come.

May your shed time be especially productive!

All these Saturdays are truly a joy when you finally do retire!

Andy, thank you...:thumbup::thumbup:

Any QST is a balance of productivity and smelling the roses ( make that smelling the lubricants and cleaners in the shed )

Don't tempt me about retirement, I think I will have to work till I am 90 to afford it plus I am having a ball at work..:dunno:

I can forsee an new upcoming issue in the new year being that between QST and that of QFT. QFT being Quality Flight Time.

HOTFR8, you are on the money there.:thumbup:

We actually have quite a bit of work booked in for the drone in the new year both internally and externally from the company. The issue is I have trouble finding the time at work given what I am employed to do in the first place as an Electrical and Mechanical Standards & Quality Coordinator ( short for Girl Friday ) .:dunno: Its a struggle but our management is very supportive of that.:thumbup:

Anyway its great to have so much fun at work, the days go like you wouldn't believe..

GIRL FRIDAY? You mean I spent twenty years as a Quality Control specialist and should have been wearing a skirt????????? Although I have been a Girl Friday too and that requires more skills. Keep up the good work Steve!

The pleasure is mine with the Ford Script...:thumbup:

Please don't feel obliged to post a thing..

All,

Having our youngest son Cameron, wife Briana, Grandson No.1 Jayden and Grandson No.2 Isaac living in Gosford, just North of Sydney and a 10 hour drive from here, being that time of the year Mrs 1/2 Cup had been really torn about the fact that she would miss Christmas day with them.
So last night she decided ( and when she gets a bee in her bonnet there is no stopping her ) that she would pay them a surprise visit on Christmas day.

Our family have a traditional Aussie get together for Christmas Lunch and we each rotate our homes to host it. Similarly every one is allocated one or two menu items to bring:

Kim, Trev and Val..........prawns, potato salad, beetroot, ice cream, lollie tray
Dad...........ham
Julie & 1/2 Cup...trifle, tomato/onion
Andrew & Amy...chocolate ripple cake.
Mal & Jo...marinated turkey, pork belly & Nan's lamingtons Pudding/meringues/shortbread
Matt & Cara - coleslaw
Kurtis & Brittni - dessert
Waynee & Karyn...chooks
Jess & Dane....fruit salad,custard and cream
Laura & Russ...scalloped potatoes
Braiden
Melissa & Doug and Tom & Ian - beer/green salad

Julie ( aka Mrs 1/2 Cup ) prepared every thing for me to take so all I have to do tomorrow morning is some whipped cream for the trifle and do the tomato and onion mixed salad..

That also leaves me with rodent duty for a few days plus I will get in some uninterrupted QST after Christmas day..

Take care and have a great Christmas..

Steve

Grandmothers will do the darndest things for their Grandkids, won't they.

Also, How did "Braiden" get out of having to bring anything?

And finally - thanks for the chat the other day - set my head in the right direction nicely.

Enjoy your day, and the QST following.

I know I would, if I could get near the workbench, but it's covered with the Christmas decorations boxes . . . . :willy_nil :dunno:

Lyndon, Julie sets the bench mark for randomness let me tell you. She is staying at Goulburn tonight for an early start tomorrow.

http://www.visitnsw.com/destinations/country-nsw/goulburn-area/goulburn

Young Braiden is my youngest nephew ( 19 )and I am guessing he will leverage of his parents to some extent but he always shouts his uncle a beer at Christmas time..

It was certainly great to have a chat, we must do it more often.

I am just kicking back myself with a nice Cab Merlot

Christmas decorations on your work bench:shocking: that is one thing that Julie would never even try..

I have the only key to the Shed Downunder, just the way I like it...;)

The glass is 1/2 full so I am about to fix that...

Enjoy...

What can I say that hasn't been all ready? New grand babies, a house full of rodent puppies, West Wing open for business and you getting to play doctor with Mrs. 1/2, you have had a fulfilling year.

May your Christmas be peaceful and filled with love and the New Year be a time of rebirth. Some Model A time would be plus.;)

I trust you had a great Christmas. Here's wishing you a prosperous and productive (monitored against to-do lists) 2017! More rodents! 1/2 excellence!

We are unseasonably warm, 18C right now 9:00AM headed to 22C with thunderstorms. How's that for the end of June?

I keep meaning to send a package...

Andy, it was a fantastic day with familly. Just kicked back, ate too much, drank to much as one does ( well me anyway ) and went with the flow..:rocker:

The temperature didn't quite get to 100 but it was still fairly warm. This year it was at my younger brothers place ( the one with the big shed ) in their outdoor living area that is beautifully treed and well shaded so the setting was just ideal.

As for 2017 lets say it will be "situation normal" around here now that the West Wing has come to a close. That said we still have few projects to do there, like the carport and dividing the back yard so we can access the West Wing Storage Facility Annex B to the Shed Downunder

BTW the new tenants moved in Christmas eve, I haven't met them yet however they do get a big tick so far, I noticed that they had a sprinkler on the lawns....:thumbup:

Ok if you insist Andy "the cheque is in the mail ";)

Have a fantastic Christmas day..

Shelby and I are off to walk of what I over indulged in yesterday..

The closest I do believe you ever get to sitting down and doing nothing.

Even smelling the roses is you being busy.

I expect we will see much more of interest from you in 2017.:)

HOTFR8, :lol_hitti

I must put some thought into next years To Do List, like last year it was "subject to change without notice" and it did exactly that..

Thanks again...
