Congrats on the anniversary mate.

 Thank you Hewey..

1/2, you know I've been here even though I haven't commented lately. I trust you had an outstanding anniversary. Well done for Julie putting up with you for 40 years.:)

 Thank you Dan

Well done Mr & Mrs 1/2 cup.

 Thank you GB

Never too late to say Congratulations.

I do wish my life had panned out very differently but it is what I have.

I am always pleased and happy for people who manage to make a life together. Getting through life's struggles and hanging together.

So well done means a lot more than just a nod to a number. Its a lifetime made through thick and thin which I suspect you had your fair share of.

 It sure does Rian.
We have certainly had our fair share of ups and down like most I am guessing, you really have me thinking now as to just what is it in our relationship that has seen us this far.:headscrat ( I will come back with my thoughts a bit later )

I also join the congratulations!:beer::beer:

 Thank you Vieux..

Steve you are married to her for 40 years now so she must be good people :bounce:

Regards

Hugo

 Hugo, the best..

Thanks yet again, you thought and congratulation are sincerely appreciated.

Have a great day...

Late dropping in here but my congrats to you both also! K series is looking good too.

Andrew, thank you..

The K is getting there the devil is in the external detail now, I literally spent a couple of days over the holidays just learning all about what makes this beast tick in terms of the Engine management system and electricals.

I am glad I pulled apart the harness as it has had a short on the alternator feed at some point in time, melting the fusible link which was buried under insulation tape and barely hanging by a couple of strands of over heated copper conductor with some thing like four joints between the alternator and terminal post on the starter.. When I quizzed Andrew about having battery issues he said now come to think of it yes I have..:willy_nil

I have been through every wire, terminal, sensor, transducer, pressure switch and injectors.

Andrews latest purchase has been a Straight Cut Close Ratio gearbox with a Quaiffe limited slip diff, used for one season but comes with a two year warranty. He traded his standard close ratio for that.

Thank you once again and have a great day..

Back to work now..

40 years is quite a milestone.

Congratulations.

Riven, thank you..

It most certainly one huge milestone in our lives, the years just tick by until you realize wow where did that go.

Regards

All,

The tenants have finally moved in properly into the West Wing as they had been dividing their time between here and their old home over the past few weeks. ( a three hour drive ). Long term they intend to build a new home in Shepparton.

I finally caught up with them and welcomed them to the neighborhood on the weekend. They are a great couple ( mid 40s ) and have settled in very well to the home as it suits their needs to a tee.

For us I don't think we could have asked for better tenants in the home noting the following:

The lawns have been watered.
The garden hoses all neatly put back in place.
No parking on the nature strip.
Offered a nice cold beer the other night.
Invited in to the home to see what they have done.
No loud music.
No pets.
Empty nesters.
Good honest country folk.
Put the garbage bins out.
Did not leave the garbage bins on the nature strip after collection.
Appreciated the quiet neighborhood.
The location, being close to the CBD, suits their situation.

So far so good.

Have a good one...

Have a good one...

Good tenants worth their weight in gold. I no longer have rentals but have had real good tenants and certified crazies. Once got a bill for an exterminator, as a squirrel had gotten into the house and tore things up. Bill was $900 and my rental was 1000 miles away. When their lease ended, and I got to see the property, I found that these women had put a bird feeder on the screen door and let it get empty. The tree rat tore a hole in the screen to get into the house and find more feed. When I had asked how he got in I was told it was through an opening in the fireplace. I was still young! :lol_hitti

1/2: you and Mrs. 1/2 really deserved a good tenant for all the time and quality materials you put into your West Wing. happy to hear you did and sounds like you got a couple with some great values and respect for other's property too.

keep us posted on that front and next thing you'll tell us that he is a machinist, builds engines and owns a plane. well at least he's a great guy and tenant for now.

have a great day even if it's not a SATUR day.

Nothing better than good tenants. Less to worry about, more Model A time.

Shorty, I totally agree.

But I have one certain son and one certain Rover K Series to finish before I attack the Model A in earnest, we will get there..

1/2 thats great News with regards to the tenants.

Bobby, our property manager has done well and earned her keep, I feel for what you have been through.

I'm really glad you somehow remembered your anniversary!

1/2 congratulations!

Tenants are not really being scrutinized. However their outstanding qualities are being celebrated. 1/2 congratulations again!

Lol, do they know they are being scrutineered by a global audience ?

Good report card so far

I'm laughing at this but it's so true!!

Good one GB!

:eyecrazy: :scared:

Tenants reaction ? :dunno: Let us not let on. ;)

Lol! Yeh, that's a bit rough, I'm sure back when I was a tenant I probably wouldn't have passed that kind of scrutiny!

That's why I posted our Anniversary here where I could be sure I could be reminded of it on a daily basis in one form or another.

Andy I do like your positive take on our tenants.

One things for sure I won't be actively encouraging them to become a member on the GJ let me tell you.;)

Anyway, four hours to go till the weekend.:rocker:

Best get back to work...

Have a good one..

1/2: as i read that Sig line you also have in yours saying I DO IT DADDY it really hits me knowing how strong my little girl is. she's never been treated like she has a handicap and never asked for anything. in fact i ALWAYS had to slow her down at school to keep from running over the other kids no matter how big they were. she went to a Christian school in our area where kindergarten through seniors in high school shared the same hallways and i guarantee you she ran over more than a few students toes that were in her way.

raising boys is a bit different than girls, but they all have their good and bad moments and you look like you did an amazing job with your boys.

cheers and hope you get in some QST now that you have a REAL SATURDAY!!

drives, IMHO this is what the GJ is all about. Each of us are here primarily because of what happens in our garages and with that there is a bigger picture, your home life, your family and your work and I feel its great to share those aspects as well and with that comes the support and encouragement for what we ultimately do in our garages..

I think you and Andy's support for Drives is outstanding. It is very inspirational for sure. Well done 1/2 cup

Dan, thank you.

It is the least we could do..

I have to let you know that Andy has been the driving ( no pun intended ) force behind a great cause.

Thank you gentlemen yet again:thumbup::thumbup:

Out to the lawns now following the recent rains here they have really kicked of this week, then into the Shed for a little bit of QST therapy:thumbup::thumbup:

All,

I received a phone call from Mrs 1/2 Cup this week saying that I had received a package in the mail:headscrat

I had not ordered nor had I brought anything on line recently.:headscrat

She opened the package for me and sent me this picture..

Well done Andy.:thumbup::thumbup:
I'm sure Steve will put it to good use.

Aaron, I have to get it off Mrs 1/2 Cup first..

That's cool!

Finallygotit Way to cool:thumbup: when you consider who made it, the machine that is was made on and the workmanship that went into making it..

Glad you got the 1/2 broom, 1/2! I could hardly send you a whole one!

Now we're going to expect to see at least a little cleaniliness in your shed.:)

Andy, 1/2 one is just perfect..

What do they say? A new broom sweeps clean.
Perhaps in this case we can now see you do the job in halves.

Nice score and Andy I guess it only cost half the freight to the usual.

HOTFR8, you are spot on there a new broom does definitely sweep the cleanest.

I do have a solution, now if the job is 1/2 done I will just have to do it twice, if that makes any sense at all..:rocker:

All,

It has been one of those days here, lawns 1/2 done and my Dad calls in a panic, my younger brother was using his trailer and backed it into some thing smashing a tail light and fractured a weld so I have had some QST today...........in Dads garage fixing one certain trailer..

Back to the lawns to get the other 1/2 done.

Have a great day.:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Perhaps using the half broom you only need to take half as much time again to make the full clean. :) Although I can fully see it will be a great broom to get into all the corners we usually miss. Again a great score.

That broom is cool! Have you hopped on it And run around? I know I would have

How did the trailer repairs go? Usually when I get a call like that I get excited :eyecrazy:

Ken, We love the broom..

Funny you should say that as when it first arrived Mrs 1/2 Cup said to our eldest son " check out my new car "

It sweeps a treat let me tell you..

Dad needed the trailer repairs done ASAP as he had to move stuff. I had offered him my trailer but no at 83 yld he wanted his trailer repaired now even though my brother was going to do it today. So you do as you have to do.:willy_nil

The trailer damage was confined to the right rear corner, number plate light, tail light with the tail light bracket, mud guard and tie down bar all a bit worse fore wear from the impact.

He had had a go at the wiring ( bearing in mind his short vision is not the best ) and the wires were all over the shop. Anyway I stripped it all back and did some panel repairs and stitched it all together with his small portable welder which for a cheapy worked really well.

Fortunately the replacement lights were like for like and fitted up well.

Dad had all his tools out ready for me to do the job but I had taken my small tools as its like working in someone else's kitchen..

Shuffled cars around and hooked it up to test it on his Toyota Camry, all good and he was on his way..

One happy Father back in business...

Week end update,

With a tear in our eyes we said good by to our Gen 2# rodents today..

Their last happy snap here.

View media item 67280
Mrs 1/2 Cup took them back to the breeder yesterday as they had been weened from mum Evie and have all been re homed and destined to become champions in their own right..

Mrs 1/2 Cup brought back Gen #1 rodents who have been away at the breeders to give Gen # 2 a good start in the world. They are settling back home well.

Other happenings in the Shed Downunder today, we finished of all the MG F drive hub assemblies with new bearings, new drive flanges and redid all the ball joints.

The shed is looking much better now with all the drive assemblies out to Andrews to do the final assembly in his shop..

A big thumbs up to the West Wing tenants, lawns mowed, edges trimmed and it looks a treat..

Anyway have a good one..:thumbup::thumbup:

Sounds like your running the whole gamut of emotions this weekend Steve! Congrats on finding great tenants. That's always a **** shoot. Just don't scare them off by checking their lawn with the dial caliper...

Have a great week!

Great advice from Coop. Leave your calipers in the case.:lol_hitti

I'm sure it wasn't east to say goodbye to the little guys. They are very cute at that stage.

Have a great upcoming week 1/2 cup, you know we'll be checking in on you.;)

1/2: that mowing dog picture you posted last week was a classic and this one just makes me sad. i know it's a part of Mrs. 1/2's deal with the breeder, but OMG puppies are so hard to not love.

great news on the tenants and sounds like they might work out great until they buy or build their new home.

you are making great progress on Andrew's engine and car and always wishing you the best in your efforts and hope the learning curve will help you and your son in the future even more.

cheers (ITFTOG)

ANDY: your brooms are famous and nice to see you fit in time to ship 1/2 one so he might do a little better than a 1/2 **** job in the shed from now on. of course if all our sheds/shops/garages were 1/2 as neat as 1/2's is we'd all be happy. i need to mend my relationship with the USPS so i can get some packages shipped that have been waiting patiently for me to do something with them.

Sorry, just catching up over here. Congrats on 40 years. That is some accomplishment. That 1/2 broom is priceless. It must be hard to say goodbye to the rodents. They are big part of our lives and little buggers always bring a smile to your day.
