Steve, this expression of what GJ is about is GOLD!:thumbup::thumbup:

Cheers!

Slim, thank you, that’s my humble opinion anyway..

Would be a sad day for me having to say good bye to those four terrors...... sorry terriers.

HOTFR8, it certainly was. Terrors is right but you couldn’t help loving them.

Sounds like your running the whole gamut of emotions this weekend Steve! Congrats on finding great tenants. That's always a **** shoot. Just don't scare them off by checking their lawn with the dial caliper...

Have a great week!

Coop, yep spot on we couldn’t have asked for better.

PS the calipers are for my Quality Control around the Shed Downunder ONLY…
Our tenants were actually watering the nature strip last night, another big plus..

Great picture. You can see the sadness in the pups eyes also. I'm thinking someone else is missing you all also. Bobby

Bobby, thank you. It was a pretty emotional day for sure.

We are comforted in the fact that they are going to good homes. The breeder interviews and assesses each prospective owner, all the pups will be shown.

Great advice from Coop. Leave your calipers in the case.:lol_hitti

I'm sure it wasn't east to say goodbye to the little guys. They are very cute at that stage.

Have a great upcoming week 1/2 cup, you know we'll be checking in on you.;)

Dan, definitely no calipers:thumbup:

The pups are developing their own personalities and were just great to have around. Separation like that is never easy, even Mrs ½ Cup was a bit teary.

Another busy week at work, contacts to finish, O H & S procedural reviews to be done and a pre tender site inspection on a personal lift replacement at one of our larger water storages. I may even get in a little time on the Drone – weather permitting.

1/2: that mowing dog picture you posted last week was a classic and this one just makes me sad. i know it's a part of Mrs. 1/2's deal with the breeder, but OMG puppies are so hard to not love.

great news on the tenants and sounds like they might work out great until they buy or build their new home.

you are making great progress on Andrew's engine and car and always wishing you the best in your efforts and hope the learning curve will help you and your son in the future even more.

cheers (ITFTOG)

ANDY: your brooms are famous and nice to see you fit in time to ship 1/2 one so he might do a little better than a 1/2 **** job in the shed from now on. of course if all our sheds/shops/garages were 1/2 as neat as 1/2's is we'd all be happy. i need to mend my relationship with the USPS so i can get some packages shipped that have been waiting patiently for me to do something with them.

Drives, the pups are just so special but we knew that this was only short term but it’s it really hits home when the day comes..

We have been blessed let me tell you in regards to the tenants. They are just so down to earth. I am hoping that their new home will take a while to build..;)

The MG F has been a great project for the both of us. Andrew helped me pressing in the new wheel bearings and hub assemblies yesterday so that’s another milestone done.

Sorry, just catching up over here. Congrats on 40 years. That is some accomplishment. That 1/2 broom is priceless. It must be hard to say goodbye to the rodents. They are big part of our lives and little buggers always bring a smile to your day.

Gerard, thank you sincerely.

We love our half broom, it’s just so special.

Yep, hard to say good bye is right. I made sure that I got plenty of pictures over the course of the last six weeks or so and you are right they put a smile on our faces constantly, we will miss them.

Again thank you one and all for your visit, back to work now..

Have a great day.

All, what a great way to start a work week, no meeting requests, few emails to attend to not a lot of stuff that required my immediate attention, the weather was just awesome here this morning so we dropped every thing and loaded up the drone to do some more training to get my hours up in order to finally get the endorsement on my pilots licence.

Even though it only requires five hour flight time to get there the logistics that goes behind every flight adds a heap of considerations and time to do so, flight planning, risk assessments and the like.

The more I fly the drone the more I appreciate the technology that under pins what may seem a no brainer, the systems built into the Albris are just awesome.

https://www.sensefly.com/drones/albris.html

We spent two hours purely dedicated to interactive control, hands on and seat of the pants stuff. The confidence in that lead me to explore the drones operational flight limitations, operational ceiling , full roll, yaw and forward flight in tandem. This thing is just poetry in motion when you get the hang of it:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Sadly I am still battling with our ICT dept in getting authority to allow me to do the imagery processing in my own right anyway this is still a work in progress as there are security issues that seem insurmountable:willy_nil..
To quote my old boss " 1/2 Cup you will never beat the system but you can make the system work for you"

Doing just that as I feel its better to ask for forgiveness after the fact.;)

Thank you one and all, I trust your start to the working week has been as good as mine..:thumbup:

I'm glad to hear how much you are liking (and feeling about) the drone. I'm sure it is a real thrill to operate one.

Unlike Coop, we are working today. But I hope it is as good of a Monday that you had.

You should have your cart finished soon..

Dan, its great fun flying the drone.:3gears: The icing on the cake is that I get paid to do it..

We actually had the drone out this morning as well then planning for Thursday and Friday too. I am just so keen to get my hours up so I can apply for the license endorsement. Not long to go now..

The 26th is Australia Day, this year its on a Thursday so I will be taking the Friday off as leave to make it a four day week end.

Have a good one and enjoy your day...............

shorty, our organization has very strict policy about what you can and cannot do in the ICT world, the programs we use as our team given what we do are a special needs bunch when it comes to computer software, permissions and access to the network.

Rather than take my laptop to ICT I have booked some time for them to come to my office and see the issues I have first hand.

. My new modem will not connect to the 4 G network.

. The graphics card needs a driver update to run the mapping program, the standard driver just will not work and has a known bug.

. I need certain file types that are not in our standard suite of files.

. My docking station looses network connectivity randomly.

. The drone Emotion X soft ware will not connect to the net due to the security fire walls, this is an essential tool to desk top plan and process our flight data.

Any way I will let you know how I get on..

Have a good one.

All, Safety 101 in around the Shed is not limited to us human type people.

As you may be aware Shelby, our Belgium Shepard is the garage guardian and constant companion in the shed and in the garden.

Long story, short story.

Atom Lawn edges and over enthusiastic Belgium Shepard's do not mix, she made a lunge at the lawn edger ( totally out of character mind you ) and it just grazed her foot.

Note the blades............

View media item 63817
Note the nick between her toes.............

View media item 67426
Lesson learned and be mind full of your pets around machinery..

Shelby is ok and the wound has healed well.

I cringed when I saw a bloke using an atom style edger the other day in thongs/flip flops. :headscrat

Then there are always the ones using mowers and line trimmers too with the same footwear :headscrat:headscrat

GB, my standard foot ware 12 out of 24/7 days a week is a pair of Mongrel slip on safety shoes, they are the most comfortable things I have ever worn...

http://mongrelboots.com.au/img/boots/sp-n/sp-n-915025.jpg

I wear them every where,,,

Poor Shelby. No doubt in future Shelby will be kept well away from the Atom Lawn Edger that she does not like. I recall a Dog once that did not like a broom sweeping the floor but a broom does not hurt like a lawn edger. The broom and the dog was so funny to watch.

HOTFR8, Shelby will be away from both the mower an edger for sure..

Lesson learned for both off us, I think she forgives me now..:)

She has a fascination for catching grinder sparks, brooms ( banned from the 1/2 broom ) and of course the hose and water.

She is over it now thank heavens..

Lyndon, you are spot on, you can read her like a book.

That look does say;

. What have you eaten.
. Why cant I have some.
. Where is mine.
. I need a belly scratch.
. When can we play in the shed.

We love her to bits..

I'm glad Shelby came out of it ok... I bet you were hurt worse than she was by it!

I don't let Tzira into the shop if I'm welding, grinding and painting... it would kill me if she got hurt from something I was doing.

Coop , she certainly did and looked after the wound well:thumbup:

I put a bandage on it but that lasted a couple of hours before she had chewed it off.

I felt just so heart broken, but she still loves me..

Great time with the drone!

I keep wanting to buy one to occupy my idle time when I'm likely to get bored.:willy_nil

Getting paid to fly it is the best, although that does add some pucker factor as you really really don't want to crash it.

Interesting concept "it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission". It really does apply in truly gray areas. But some dim wits try to use it to violate policy and that is just not a good idea. When I told an employee one day "you knew I didn't want you to do that" and he smiled and said "it's easier to ask forgiveness" I invited him down to HR for a warning and termination and loss of pension rights for the next willful violation of policy. He quit smiling.

The way she jumped at the threatening Atom Edger am I to assume her full name is Shelby Cobra? It has a familiar ring to it, now doesn't it? And at meal time, Shelby Cobra GT (Giving Thanks).

Now I want one!

Andy

The weather was very conducive to fly in the mornings here so we just dropped every thing and went for it and actually did three flight sessions this week with the Drone on different days . My confidence in handling it is growing every time I fly it.

Idle time and Andy don't go in the same sentence..

The pucker factor is still there I can assure you, but the systems in our Drone are a little smarter than me and that's very comforting let me tell you..
Plus it is well insured for that very reason.;)

I have to agree with that it is certainly an interesting concept "it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission". The is that thin and grey line there for sure. Our corporate policies are very clearly articulated I might add for very good reason. I am very open about the approach I am taking to the IT security issues and have the support of my boss ( in an email ) who is equally frustrated.;)

Spot on Andy her full name is Shelby Cobra, in fact my eldest calls her Cobra which she respond to as well. I love your take on the GT well:thumbup: Suits her well.

If you want one just do it and enjoy..

Thank you for dropping by and have a good one..

All, Stating the obvious - the week end is here..:rocker:

So the To Do List goes like this:

First and foremost lots of QST

. I have not done a whole heap on the MG F over the last couple of weeks but Andrew has the sub frame nearly ready for the engine install, so I am expecting that to rock up this week end so that will give me enough to keep me of the streets for another few weeks when that arrives here.

. There have been some HDs ( honey dos ) mounting up over the last little while, which include but is not limited to the following:
1. Vacuum the ceiling fan blades x 3
2. Fit Andrews new back door that has been on the back burner for a few months now.
3. Split Air conditioner filters and fan motors.
4. Wax and polish one only grocery getter ( Honda City )
PS that reminds me it is due for a service. ( may be next week end )

Lawn edges and mowing and no Shelby when I do it this time. Synthetic grass is looking like the way to go.:willy_nil

I trust you all have a great week end..

1/2: even though your TO DO LIST looks fairly small getting that engine in Andrew's car will be a BIG ONE TO CHECK OFF. good luck with that.

also i'm guessing Shelby had the micrometer in her other paw cause she saw you using it and was just making sure you were doing a good job. she might have been waving for you to come back and re do what you'd just done when you clipped her. :dunno:

sad to see her in pain and happy to hear she's healing up and didn't lose a foot.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND and enjoy your SATUR day!!

drives, shock of shocks absolutely nothing done on the To Do List, nothing at all.:shocking:

Apart from just pottering around randomly in the shed and garden I have spent most of the day reading and catching up on stuff, nothing too strenuous mind you and it has been a welcome change, even Mrs 1/2 Cup commented..

Shelby was one lucky dog in that the wound was not more severe . It has heal well in a short space of time thankfully.

She is certainty not a micrometre type dog, she is very happy with randomness let me tell you..

I think a big walk for her is in order for tomorrow morning as she really enjoys it.

Thank you for you visit and I trust all is going well...

1/2: i was looking for updates on your thread and actually had to do a search just to find the SHED DOWNUNDER.

i know you are smelling the roses so to speak, but i miss my 1/2 posts maybe as much as you miss the little RODENTS you sent to the breeder.

with all the ESTROGEN around my house these past couple weeks i need a bigger dose of GJ these days so sorry if i'm pestering you if you are taking a well deserved break.

cheers and hoping all is well in the land DOWN UNDER.

Drives.........Australia Day Holiday on the 26th (like your 4th July). So I know 1/2 is working on not working for the next 4 days. Plenty of QST for 1/2 over the next few days.

Oh and if it stays hot not working will be what many of us do here for the next few days.

drives, thank you for checking in, I have to admit I have been a bit slack of late..

I can't get over what you have been up to of late, keep up the great work..

Well were are we at:headscrat

We have an extra long week end here with Australia to celebrate Australia Day tomorrow..

I am taking Friday off as an annual leave day so I am looking forward to a four day week end..:3gears:

It has been fairly full on at work any way that is just the norm but I am coping well. Lots of reactive work.

We had a fire in one of the air conditioning units ( 110 f day ) at a critical pump station that partly destroyed the roof but fortunately it was back in action in under 12 hours thanks to the great work of our team.

Design reviews.

Contractual stuff.

Site commissioning.

Pre Tender inspections.

Financial updates.

Contact payments.

And the list goes on..

Drone update.

This week I have I have clocked up enough hours to apply to the Civil Aviation Authority for an endorsement on my Private Pilots Licence.:thumbup::thumbup:
We flew in some really ordinary conditions this week pushing the Drone to the envelope and it was one hell of an experience let me tell you.

So I am pleased all the training is behind me now missions aside but I intend to keep my hand in on a weekly basis if not .

Gen # 2 rodents up date.

All the pups have all found loving homes now ( sadly for us ) but it is great to see they are all doing well. Mrs 1/2 Cup is in contact on a daily basis and we are seeing some great stuff on FB.

The Honey Must Dos this long weekend.:scared:

Andrews back door - Mrs 1/2 Cup and Amy ( DIL ) have conspired on this one...

So guess what I am doing at 8.00 am tomorrow morning.

West Wing Update.

In a few words, a tenant that follows up after you with a blower vac after you have edged the nature strip to an inch of its life, then mown to a precision cut of 1 1/16 inch has got to be good value.

Happy campers..

At the moment I have no real to do list for the long weekend but I will update as I go with the flow..

Thank you again, and keep up the great work:bowdown:

I intend to but we need to have an update of your weekend exploits.:)

HOTFR8, the HONEY ( edit that 1/2 Cup I know this is not negotiable ) Must Do so she who must be obeyed has spoken.

The work truck is loaded and ready to go at the speed of a thousand turtles, 7.52 am tomorrow morning.

Updates and clocked screws pending..

1/2: TB solved the clocking stainless hex head screws. JUST SAYING!! best of luck with the back door change out at Andrews.

i just read you and a cow in your past had a tussle and you lost a toe. yes? didn't damage your LEAD FOOT at all or maybe it was on the other foot since you are DOWN UNDER and drive on the wrong side of the road. :D

were you like 10 or do tell since not everybody reading your thread reads Andy's adventures (and yours) on his.

good to hear the little RODENTS are happy and at good homes and you and Mrs. 1/2's solid start had to be a good reason why.

have a great day and i'm going to dig out more materials for a back drop support probably made out of wood. check the chair thread if you might have a good idea on how to support a couple 8 foot posts with a 12 foot 2x4 across the top. i'm sure a few long 4 inch screws might do the job, but this has become a Garage Journal Wedding. too bad Mrs. Drives doesn't like all the aluminum conduit i own that is actually new.

drives, the door is done and dusted ( see below for another shock to rock the GJ )

You read right I am an amputee to paint the picture as a youngster herding cows in for milking, concrete yard, cow S**t, bare feet as you do out here. Cow backs up not wanting to be milked on this day and plants her foot on mine. Hurt pain, agony and blood oozing out from my foot through the cow s**t. Dad rushes over and hoses down my foot and I think he got a bigger shock than me as my little toe wasn't there any more it was cut clean off.

So there was yet another trip to the hospital for the 1/2 Cup

PS, I recovered well and it does not stop me from planting the foot..:3gears:

PPS, as kids we were on first name basis with the hospital staff and local doctors and I know now that's why Mum turned gray...:headscrat

More FB stuff from the rodents over night it sure brings a smile to our faces..:)

That's one thing on the to do list today is to check in on your progress.

I guess he is now working on that back door clocking the screws.

HOTFR8, spot on :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I arrived out at Andrews at 7.59 am and drove out of there at 9.13 am with the new back door installed, new hinges, locks, finished, done and dusted.:3gears:

Its only taken me 4 months to get around to it..:headscrat

I was too ashamed to take any pictures of my handy work and I have to fess up yet again,

I DID NOT CLOCK THE SCREWS
,

yes you read it correctly.

I DID NOT CLOCK THE SCREWS
,

:shocking:

On the plus side but I do understand this does not redeem me in any way but I have one happy Mrs 1/2 Cup and a very happy Daughter in Law and one very relieved Son.
Clocked or not clocked they didn't note the error of my ways..;)

Mission accomplished.. and have a great day one and all..
