1/2: since we both went for the upgrades and full options with the wive's choices it doesn't surprise me in the slightest that you approve of Mrs. 1/2's ownership of a good tape measuring device.

i need to get my backyard project started and finished this spring and summer cause it's scary when my bride opens the blinds and just looks out. her ideas are over the top great, but OMG i need 3 lifetimes to get all the skills needed to do this myself.

have a great day and hope you are getting more DRONE time this week to fill some of those fun days at your personal SALT MINES at work.

cheers

drives, Mrs ½ Cup has a lot of difficulty visualising things so the tape measure, as simple as it is, answers a lot of questions without me going into a detailed discussion as to why a piece of furniture will or will not fit. Our home constantly changes with her reorganisations one minute it’s there, next minute it’s somewhere else. All said and done she does a top job of keeping things in order.

I am hearing you when it come to our respective spouses, sounds like they are tarred with the same brush. Mrs ½ Cup has a very “ fertile imagination “ and I have to remind her at times that there is only 24 hours in a day. Don’t get me wrong I love what I do but like you I would need three life times to get through it all..

Its 7.00 am now and I have been at work for ¾ an hour or so, I do like to start early and clear the deck so to speak the pull the pin at around 4 – 4 30 pm to make the most of the day.
It has been pretty busy at work and the week goes fairly quickly. This week it has been mostly pump station design reviews, some financial reporting, site inspection reports and a quick two hour to Melbourne to complete a whole ½ hours work in the final factory acceptance and sign off on six switchboard cabinets powder coating and assembly work. And its only Wednesday..
We do fly the Drone on a weekly basis just to keep our hand in every Thursday morning irrespective of any project work we do with it. At this point in time we would complete two full mapping projects per week now so it is being put to good use and is starting to earn its keep and having a heap of fun in doing so.

When Mrs 1/2 Cup gets a bee in her bonnet and a tape measure in hand its time to be scared, real scared

I just tell my self I can run faster scared than she can mad and hope and pray that the adrenaline doesn't fail me now!

Sub, unfortunately there is no escape for this black duck.:scared:

Thanks again every one have a great day.

Back to work…

I hope you never lose your sight! :headshake For many reasons, of course, but navigating through the house could get tricky.

Finallygotit, after 40 years of marriage I have learnt this much;

"Expect the unexpected"

Having a visual impairment would not be an issue in the Shed Downunder but in our home it would be a different matter..:willy_nil

Sounds like the drone drill is a real thrill.

Andy, we do love our Drone drill..

I had to knock back a short notice Drone project today as I have a dead line to meet with a Detailed Design Report review, so we have rescheduled that for next week.

Thank you one and all, I trust your day is going well..

All, just when I thought the coast was clear the unexpected happened.

If I go missing from the GJ for a couple of years you will understand.

Now for the explanation.

As you know my eldest son Andrew ( wife, DIL Amy ) brought his MG F from Amy's uncle two years ago, an MG enthusiast that has two of every model ever built..

Andrews car at Sandown Raceway.

Are you with me so far??

His passion for the MG F has come to the fore yet again and here is what turned up at Amy's uncles workshop yesterday..:shocking:

At the moment, my out of office is on, my phone is off and for all intents and purposes I am out of the country for a couple of years..

Please don't let on..

Let on :headscrat. Did I miss something .

:) I think all is safe with me. :)

HOTFR8, It got missed on me as well let me tell you.:willy_nil

Secret safe with me. :3gears:

Aaron, thank you.

What I'm hearing is that Andrew bought an extra car so that you can come race with him? What a great idea!

Andrew, It was his wife’s uncle that brought the MG F who BTW has one as a road car. So now we have TEAM MG F RACING, they seem to be multiplying at a rapid rate. ( no! I am not going to get one as well )

1/2: Have fun!!

Drives, It just smells like a heap of QST to me..;)

Looks like 1/2 fun to me!

And maybe something to keep occupied in the ever approaching retirement!!:rocker::rocker:

Andy, do I look like a shed type person that needs yet another project.;)

Father and son racing team. A great idea!

rmalkow, now that would be a blast.:3gears:

My only question is when will you begin building engine number 2 for that car?
JB

JB, Possibly, then there is Andrews old race engine which BTW he has nearly procured enough bits to make a start on.

We still have to negotiate terms and conditions on any future builds…:headscrat

It's times like these that I take a break from crying about the fact that my kids live 1000 miles away, and enjoy a quiet beer.

Bobby, enjoy a quiet beer I will. Although I have enjoyed the build its now time for some ME time on the Model A and my other projects that I would like to get stuck into. The last 18 months have been pretty full on for us.

Thank you one and all, have a top day.

PS we managed to get in a couple of hours practice on the Drone this morning in near perfect flying conditions, now that fun..:rocker:

That spare k series engine just means you need to pick up a Midget/Sprite to stuff it into 1/2Cup... After all, MGFs are only useful as engine donors anyway!

Very interesting 1/2. Are up for another project?

A coupe of years away from the GJ would make it impossible to catch up on everything. I find after a week away it takes hours just trying to read what all of you guys have been up to. Good luck.:)

1/2: At work we found that if you wish to stir the crew up all that was needed was to walk through the area with a tape measure and piece of paper. Stand and look around the area measure something and then leave.

Looking forward to the the see what you do with the MG F and I think that I can keep a secret and not tell anyone.

Andrew: Darn, UIL just got a new MG and we need ...

Dan, Interesting yes:thumbup: however it is time for a few ME projects.

The GJ moves so fast, believe me I have trouble keeping up as well:willy_nil

Dwight, that certainly would get the rumour mill going..

When Mrs 1/2 Cup starts a sentence with " I have been thinking and we should....................." I am nervous..:shocking:

I just need a little respite from anything that has an MG logo on it at the moment.

Beware of the drone time. Methinks they are trying to induce you to never retire...

Andy, now that is entirely possible, may be you have uncovered a workplace conspiracy..;)

More on the Drone later..

Thank you one and all for your contributions, have a great day..

Looking forward to the weekend..

Drone update.
.

Friday just gone our Surveys team were show casing to our Marketing and Communications Dept all the new technologies they currently have at their disposal at one of our water storages - Goulburn Weir.

https://www.bing.com/images/search?...vt=goulburn+weir&qpvt=goulburn+weir&FORM=IGRE

It is an ideal location to get some great images from the Drone, Bathometric Survey work and 3D modelling of the structure..

Our other Drone pilot along with a representative, him self a Drone pilot, from the company we brought the Drone from were doing the flying duties for the demonstration.

Stepping back in time from when we had the prop failure ( that was under a recall) and its heavy landing and from that time we have had lots of niggling issues with the Drone, loss of data link, battery cell malfunctions and the like which all result in a land now situation.

I received a phone call on Friday afternoon to inform me that the Drone had another failure whilst capturing footage on the downstream side of the weir and fell from a height of 90 ft onto the rocks below, severely damaging it.

We have footage of the drone taking its fatal swan dive and I will be briefed on that Monday.

So it looks like we are grounded for a while until we get a replacement.

Week end update to follow..

Hard luck on the drone!!

I was hoping the drone manufacturer's representative would have witnessed the issues and admitted they were caused by the failure of a recalled part. And replace the drone.:dunno:

Marvelous car pictures, by the way.

That's a shame that the drone had another unhappy landing Steve, although I bet that you breathed a sigh of relief that it didn't happen on your watch.

.

Andy and Mark thank you,:thumbup:

At this point in time I am unsure what the arrangement will be in terms of repair or replacement. When we had our first failure as one of the props spat a blade the rep. was there as well.

An incident like that leaves you gutted, when my colleague called he said I am going home and on the way pick up a couple of bottles of wine. I could really relate to just how he felt..

On a happier note, lots of QST this weekend:thumbup:

The Rover K Series is nearly ready to be installed back in the car and only a few tidy up items left to do..

Andrew, Amy and Aiden dropped in this morning to check on my progress, there is nothing like starting the next generation off on the right foot in the garage..

1/2: great picture of your son and grandson christening the engine with mom's blessing! nice work getting it ready to put in Andrew's car too.

sorry to hear that the DRONE CRASHED. i'm guessing that your company doesn't have two of these so if one goes down or to the shop the other one can be used to finish a project?

hope you had a great weekend and by the looks of things i'd say you did.

Bummer about the drone. Hopefully it can be repaired, or get replaced... I'm sure it'll be more of a budgetary issue if your place operates anything like mine...

Great family pic at the engine! Thanks for sharing...

Terrick, thank you..

Awesome picture 1/2.

Gerard thank you.

Really need to get a picture of those feet prints Steve before you polish the valve covers again; for prosperity. Nice

Bobby, I must do that for sure..

It was a great opportunity to get a picture or two.

Just a few little tidy up things to do now on the Rover K Series before it leaves the Shed Downunder then the after car begins..

Unfortunately we only have one Drone I will find out a little more after we do our debrief this morning as to what is the next step. It has gone back to the suppliers now and we will wait for the outcome.:dunno:
I do suspect that the flight data analysis will paint the picture..

It has been a great weekend with some productive QST and the obligatory Honey Dos...

Coop, It certainly leaves feeling a bit let down some what, anyway one way or another we will be back flying again.

As for budgets our workplace runs on them let me tell you. That said if you can put a good sound business case together the bean counters aren't to bad about it as our Management really encourage Innovation..

Thank you...

Have a top day

Great family pic! As for the drone... We lost at least a couple and I believe the project/idea died with them...

Thank you Andrew:thumbup:

Our drone program is still very much alive at work as it fits the big picture and meshes well with our other technologies and I can only see it growing. The are well insured..

Thank you one and all, have a great day..

1/2 Cup, my brother has just contacted me to tell me that he has a cracked rear shock mount in his MGF, looks like a common issue that I'll be helping him sort out sometime soon. Do you know what (if anything) Andrew has done in this area on his car? Is his car originally a Cup or Trophy car? Looks like the Cup and/or Trophy cars had reinforcement installed in this area. Any info appreciated!

Cheers,

Andrew.

1/2 Cup

The family photo in the garage is a real standout. Beautiful family and your shop really shines as well!!

Best Regards
Herb

Herb, thank you..:thumbup::thumbup:

The shop is still very much a work in progress, space is a huge issue and I have found that keeping it clean and free of clutter really helps.

Andrew, cracked shocker mounts are a common problem on the Fs. Andrews car is just a standard one but has a had a reinforcing plate fitted.

You will need to not just weld the cracks as the metal is still fatigued and I would recommend that once you have welded it, reinforce it with an after market mount.

I trust this helps.

Thank one and all, have a great day...
