Just trying to stay caught up with everyone here. B&E roll always a great start to a day. And if that's the best close up selfie with the drone, than you do need some practice.:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

All this talk about B&E rolls, grits, etc has really whetted my apatite, why are ya'll so mean? I had to reply to Herb's comments on grits as without realizing it I have probably gone 8 years without having any. I'll have to fix that this weekend. Recently I've been making cheddar and jalapeno venison summer sausage, egg, cheese, and butter fried bread for my weekend breakfast.

Used to be, in the south, grits were served with breakfast whether you ordered them or not. It was naturally assumed you wanted them. Lots of butter and salt, good hot and good for dessert as they cool and get a crust. Now I'm hungry.

Ease off, Dan, that's a GREAT drone selfie, it's close enough. You know what happened when Bob showed us a real selfie:willy_nil:lol_hitti:evil:

Which brings me to Hominy, Oklahoma. A little town nearby. Their sports teams are the Hominy Bucks (lots of Native American influence). I've always told them they missed a bet, could have been the Hominy Grits.

What?:dunno:

What hijack?:willy_nil

I don't know what on earth you are talking about...

1/2: I see it's Friday so maybe you can show us what Andrew put you on GJ probation for?

so this is now the GET HEALTHY thread or are we just posting food pictures? i've never had a GRIT that i can recall, but since i'm married to a vegetarian i'm betting she's slipped some on my plate and i just didn't know the name. i haven't made a bacon and egg sandwich to top yours which looked delicious, but about 2 times a month i order this double meat burger with 3 thick slices of bacon on it and no pickle extra tomato and of course some cheese.

great selfie picture and some say you didn't get close enough, but i bet you don't want those things flying too close to you until you've flown quite a bit more with them. what i see in your selfie is it looks like you are on a golf course and i'm looking for the pin on the green in through the trees from where you are.

good to hear the new drone is working much better and the learning curve on these is something most of us won't ever find out cause it costs more than some of our new cars.

I've been following Andrew's engine/MG thread and can't recall an exact date you two might be taking the MG for a spin or putting it on the DYNO or are you still working on it?

best of luck as always and a little picture of my burger in case you might have a good burger place near you to get one.

cheers

Not wanting to upset our American friends, but I didn't like the grits I tried while I was over there. In fairness it was at a Waffle House that I tried them.
I quickly turned my attention to some smothered, covered, chunked hash browns though and never looked back. In the end it was hard to drive past a WH, couldn't help myself
In my time there I also discovered bob Evans and Cracker Barrel.
Some of the best food I have ever tasted I found at these establishments.

Apologies for the hijack, back to normal programming. :lol_hitti

For breakfast this morning I had grits with butter, a blueberry muffin and coffee. I lived in Atlanta for a few years and was fortunate to have grits in some of the local restaurants and learn how tasty good grits are. The grits served at the Waffle House should not really be called grits. For good tasting grits try to find stone ground grits. The coarser grind makes for better flavor.

Sorry Steve - continuing the hijack.

Lyndsay

My parents regularly visit my sister outside Cleveland in Ohio (they are there now...), and they swear by Bob Evans (whoever that is). In fact, so that my sister doesn't have to go all the way into the airport to pick them up, they always catch a cab to the one outside the airport, have a meal and meet up there. And ditto on the return.

I am going to guarantee you that walking into the Greyhound Bus Station in Shreveport, LA, circa 1964, and presenting a US Government Meal Ticket, while enroute to Fort Polk, LA, one is going to have Grits with about anything you order.

Grits cooked well and soaked in butter and salted and peppered! The other side of the Southern Coin is Sausage Gravy. NOW I know JB has had sausage gravy, and if not the kind soul needs to pilot his little Cobra back here again and see Mrs Spencer. Personally, I am not the fan of the sausage gravy, I prefer the grits, Arkansas Smoked Ham steaks, and Scrambled eggs. Don't anyone worry, it all goes well with a Killian Irish Red, be it breakfast or not. Yes 1/2 Cup I love "fresh squeezed Orange Juice.

Let's look into this tonight at dinner!!

Best Regards
Herb

I've sure had good grits at Waffle House (which we call Affle House, one in Tulsa had the W unlit for years). It just takes enough butter, salt, and if you must, pepper.

For those down under, the Waffle House is a chain of very small restaurants alongside busy highways. They have a long bar with stools and a row of booths to match and that's it.

Growing up we called them the "Awful Waffle". Most here for a long time were dirty and shabby. Some burnt up from the grease catching fire. There are many good ones though and the food is fantastic!!

Love me some hominy grits... I consider myself to be a pretty decent amateur gunsmith if you need any help...

Coop, I must give them a try.

Don’t worry I will yell if I need a hand, basically it’s a Slick Action kit that comes with some pretty detailed instructions so I will give it a crack…

Just trying to stay caught up with everyone here. B&E roll always a great start to a day. And if that's the best close up selfie with the drone, than you do need some practice.:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Dan, I was just being cautious and trying to play with the drone. The photo does not really show just how close it was…

On the subject of a drone selfie, I don’t need a haircut just at the moment…

drives, pictures to follow over the weekend for sure. I have to modify a gun action which should not take the whole weekend ( QST none the less ). I will fit in some GJ time in any case.;)

I am much the same as you, everything in moderation your burger sounds great.

Where we were is cared for like a golf course, it is actually the perimeter of a soccer field. We are fortunate to have some great sporting facilities close to work for a small town that we can access to fly the drone when they are not in use.

You are right in saying our drones, cameras and software packages are quite expensive. They are well insured let me tell you.

Andrews’ MG F has a few things that need tidying up, the a wheel alignment and on to the Dyno which is looking like next week now.:3gears:

Not to mention yours.:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Dan, I will get over it not a problem…;)

03. given the mixed feelings about Grits of late it has made me even more determined to complete the taste test.

Some say I have a cast iron gut but in reality there is not too many foods that I will not have a go at some I like more than others…

Grits are nasty. Why would you want to eat something called a grit?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Speedfreak, “ Grits” do sound a bit off putting I must admit when I think of grit I think of a sandpaper grit or dirt and grit.:dunno:

Anyway me and my stomach are up for the challenge..

Talking about Drones. This got a mention on the local radio this morning.
A Wedge tail Eagle here in Australia takes down a farmers Drone.

HOTFR8, I saw that on ABC Rural, there is certainly some great footage courtesy of the drone..:shocking:

Herb, we have an orange tree in our front yard and the juice is to die for. I leave them ripen on the tree until they drop and they are just so sweet..

Now that Herb has mentioned Sausage Gravy I'll stay off topic with him. I've had two distinctly different types of it, thick and thin, I'm more of a fan of the thick style myself. Another traditional breakfast I grew up on was chocolate gravy. The two types are also thick and thin, the thick is almost like hot chocolate pudding served over biscuits. The thin is what my mother would cook and it was just slightly thicker than milk, a bit of butter in the bowl and let the biscuits soak it all in. Yep it is time to make some this weekend I believe.

That is pure EVIL....

And I want it.

Rian, evil is spot on to the point I am thinking of banning pictures of that to die for food on this thread as well as putting a health warning in my signature...:shocking:

Ok now I'm hungry..... LOL I know what I'm making tomorrow now.

I never seen a lever action shotgun before. Interesting...

Gerard, refer to my comments above, all this talk about food is addictive for some reason..

These firearms are fairly popular out here now but a bit of a hot potato in terms of their legality. IMHO I wouldn't have one as they are not well engineered and just a bit of a fad at the moment that makes no practical sense at all.:dunno:

Sunday morning here now and stuff to be done in the shed ( QST ):rocker:

All, Quik weekend wrap up.

The shot gun has had its slick action kit installed, I elected not to fit the lightened trigger spring as the Adler A-110 is notorious for miss firing at the best of times.. Talk about a fiddling job..:willy_nil

Damned cold here today and snow in them thar hills so I spent most of it doing the honey do's and trivial jobs.

. Cleaned shower screen.
. Packed away the rodents show paraphernalia.
. Adjusted sheer window coverings in the bedroom.
. Replaced globe in bath room down light.
. Interior detailed clean of my work SUV. ( long over due )
. Clean and vac out the Shed.
. dead headed some of our roses.

And no B&E sangas...;)

I hope your day is going well...

also as a side note if you forget to post up anything most of us don't mind posting on your thread while you are busy.

you are a man of many many many many talents.

not that you didn't know this already, but a burger with a tater tot bun might be more carbs than you should eat for a week. sure looks tasty doesn't it?

Steve: So you didn't install the light trigger spring, does that mean you did 1/2 job?

Andy, your right 1/2 a job.;)

The action is quite a bit different than the original, it is a heap smoother. Andrew has not test fired it as yet so I will wait on his feed back..

In terms of talents and skills I am just an ordinary tradesman / Aussie bloke who will have a crack at most things that come my way. I don’t always get it right but the important thing is I have a go and learn from lessons learned..

As kids growing up on a dairy farm if we broke it we fixed it, later on as an apprentice we learnt to be multi skilled, resourceful and were taught by old school tradesmen that took great pride in their workmanship. Our new generation of apprentices coming through would struggle to sharpen a drill bit and would much rather go to the hardware and purchase a new one.

I am going to have to give the food posts a miss for a bit as it does not promote a healthy life style no matter how good or tempting it looks or tastes, that said everything in moderation..

No we do not have Memorial Day as such our ANZAC day would be considered the same.

Steve never was a truer word spoken. The good ones a very few and far between these days, most of them don't seem to want to learn. It's a shame that so much is lost each time a generation passes these days. I still occasionally find myself wondering what my dad would have done when I am up against it.
Contrary to popular belief, all the answers are NOT on the Internet.

Although a lot of them are on GJ.

By any chance did you get to that power supply job you intended to bench test over the weekend? You know I only ask as I am curious about the NBN workings.

HOTFR8, I did now I am letting the battery the battery discharge on a small load to replicate a long outage scenario so the battery gets to its cut off point to see what happens when the mains are restored..

A work in progress..

It carries over into all aspects of their lives as far as I can see. They would rather live in a cookie cutter house grouped in with others that they do not have to talk to because they don't know how. Kind of makes you wonder how they view procreation? I can see something on the order of a Mercedes automated assembly line being acted out in the form of an Egyptian hieroglyph.

Shorty our next one is in a couple of weeks to celebrate the Queens Birthday
And like our President's Day, the Queen's Birthday is not celebrated on her or any other real birthday (2nd Monday in June). As I recall, to add confusion, Western Australia and Queensland celebrate the QB on a different day from the rest of Australia.

Nothing like a little confusion between states for a celebration (holiday) just do not start on daylight saving times although I am sure we have been there before as well.

03, you are spot on.

Just think back to what it was like 30 years ago, it was much less complicated and things were meant to and able to be repaired..

Bobby, so true, every aspect of their lives.

Think of what it will be like another 20 years down the track..:willy_nil

And like our President's Day, the Queen's Birthday is not celebrated on her or any other real birthday (2nd Monday in June). As I recall, to add confusion, Western Australia and Queensland celebrate the QB on a different day from the rest of Australia.

Bob, you are correct there when it comes to our public holidays, its just so bizarre.:headscrat

Please keep me posted.

Nothing like a little confusion between states for a celebration (holiday) just do not start on daylight saving times although I am sure we have been there before as well.

HOTFR8, keep you posted I will.

Lets not start on Daylight Savings, I thought that thread got banned years ago..:headscrat

Thank you one and all, have a great day.

Lunch time here and back to work..

You all (Y'all) don't forget your crumbled up cornbread in a tall glass with ice cold butter milk poured over the top for a mid morning snack.
I think that is an "Arkie" invention, but ask JB as it may have come from the "Okies".
Best Regards
