Yup, Shelby knows you are not happy, I had a cat that would do the same thing after tearing up something he wasn't supposed to. No matter what it is hard to stay mad at them. I am having my own MOE right now. Have a good one!

All, just a short clip of the antics Shelby gets up to.

Great story with Shelby 1/2 cup. My oldest of my 3 dogs is named Shelby as well. So you do watch the V8 supercars? I have a good friend who lives in the Blue Mountains that is always talking about them. Couple of years ago he sent a calendar of them.

Looks like Shelby was just trying to get the ball away from the evil stool:bounce:

Andy, spot on as she does get angry with the stool when it does not cooperate with her fully..

Bret, thank you  its a small world:thumbup:

Mrs 1/2 Cup
and I are big fans of the V8 Supercars that much so she quite often gives me a running commentary and gets quite, let me say, emotional about any incident commentary that she disagrees with.:3gears:
The V8 Supercars shop stock quite a bit of merchandise.

Looks to me like Shelby was just "Ballroom" dancing! :lol_hitti

Bobby, she does it so eloquently:lol:

Thank you gentlemen, have a great day..

These will need a full rebuild which shouldn’t be that hard to do by the looks of them.

You have scored well with yours. Are there any issues in mapping them to your ECU?

No Ecu in this old girl bud.

Here is the motor before i ripped it out of the car. It just has a painted rocker cover and i painted the block to pretty it up with new leads, it was still a 40 year old boat anchor that burned through 1 Litre of engine oil every week, she smoked like John Candy's car in Uncle buck!

and here are the bike carbs im putting on her:

Rudi, that's one nicely detailed engine bay..

I terms of your rebuild what goodies did you end up putting in the engine?

Now I get the picture with the carbs. They should work well.

The carport looks great.

Carport build will be interesting.

Carport looks really good.

Kudos for making it match the shed so nicely.:thumbup:

You are really going to enjoy that carport 1/2.

Bret

Thanks gentlemen:thumbup:

The contractors have done a really great job so far, every thing is nice and square, the diagonals are spot on considering the surface they had to work with which was by no means level.:thumbup:
The roof and gutters should be completed on Monday all going well.

Have a good one..

Looks good 1/2 Cup, nicer than the old gal purlin type car ports.

GB

GB, thank you..

The carport specs go like this:

. All steel construction. All powder coated classic cream.
. 4x4 square hollow section columns.
. 2x4 rectangular hollow section for both the trusses and purlins.
. Air cell insulation.
. Corrugated color bond roofing iron in classic cream to match the existing shed and house.
. Gutters and down pipes in a blue gray to match the home.

. No C section.
. No gal top hat section.

It just fits the bill and is a strong build...

Have a good one.

good looking carport seems like it's going to be quite inconspicuous. Well done.

Was wondering is that a cast iron stack in the foreground?

Cheers

All, just a quick up date on the West Wing.

The carport build finally got underway yesterday ( Friday ) and I am pretty happy with the progress and quality of workmanship thus far.

Carport is looking good. It will be nice to have that extra covered space for parking or working outside. Will you cover the roof gap between the carport and shed?

Rian, thank you:thumbup:

The carport makes an ideal work area and I could see it working at your place for sure:thumbup:

I am not a huge fan of flat roofs but this just follows the garage roof line and blends in well.

rmalkow, thank you.

This will make the tenants happy, given that I am using the garage for storage and there is no other under cover parking...

The space between the shed and the carport was a concession that I had to make to get my building permit. The carport has been supplied with a kit to cover the gap down the track after council has signed off on the build..;)

All, we have had some pretty cool nights here of late ( down to freezing ) but some cracker days where you can actually feel some warmth from the sun.

So this weekend has been devoted to pruning the climbing rose on the carport/veranda and trimming our lemon and mandarin trees with very little QST never the less it has been very rewarding.

Thank you one and all, enjoy your weekend...

The carport will be a very nice addition to the West Wing 1/2. Looking good already.

Too bad you didn't get more QST but it's good to get a few little projects behind you. I'm sure you do find that rewarding.

1/2: i love your CARPORTS (or SHEDS as you call them) with the metal framing cause they look so stout/solid. i also like your attitude about getting the permit and maybe making the cosmetic changes needed that would have been hard or impossible to get permitted.

with a great tenant i don't see ANY ISSUES with the carport in front of the garage for access and i hope you never have a terrible tenant if these tenants actually move. if i was them i'd stay and have MR. & MRS. 1/2 Cup for neighbors and landlords and work with the house.

cheers

Dan, thank you..

The Carport should be finished today, with the only thing left to do is redirecting the down pipes into the existing shed gutters on the week end.

Carport looks good...

Andrew, thank you.

We are pretty pleased with the out come..

I am a big fan of stout and solid as you may have gathered over the years. You get what you pay for that’s for sure.;)

The permit plans were certainly a compromise I may have lost the battle but I will win the war..;)

Out tenants are really pleased with the prospect of having a carport as it is quite frosty here now. They have often commented just how nice the area is and the fact that it is really convenient to everywhere, mores the pity that there build is quite a distance in a new estate from the city central.

All, our local Stihl shop has its EOFY sale on right now and given that I hate borrowing tools and equipment from any one and after using Andrew's chain saw on the weekend I decided to lash out and get a new one for myself. Blowers were in the catalogue as well and given that my old Ryobi electric unit is getting to the end of its useful life I said to myself – self, its time.

I struck a great deal and got the blower and chain saw plus bar oil, two stroke mix, chain sharper, 4 year extended warranty and vac attachment $30AU cheaper than the total catalogue price of the blower and chain saw on their own so I am pretty chuffed about that..

Nice! I seriously looked at the Stihl chainsaws last year (after, funnily enough, our freebie Ryobi died), ended up settling on the Husqvarna instead.

Andrew, thank you.
For the amount of time I use the chain saw I am sure is last me out. I don't have a wood fire.
The Husqvarna units also have a great reputation as well.

1/2: i've loved all the power and quality my Stihl tools have had in the past, but you need to make sure to treat your carb good cause they are very finicky or at least they used to be if you left gas in the tank or carb for any extended period of time.

i know a guy that collects old Stihl saws and his always start up fairly easily, but he runs them dry and puts in a shot of some special juice for the last burn through the carb before he lets them sit for months or years.

they sure look good sitting in your shop.

I just had to read that twice.........:dunno: Our 1/2Cup standing still. What happened :dunno:. Then I decided he must still have been so excited about the Stihl purchase he made a typo telling us all about it. :lol_hitti Nice score 1/2.

Good job on the orange tools!

Top brand in my book. My woodcutter only uses Stihl.

Andy, thank you.

Stihl have a great reputation and they should see me out.

Note to file: please note typo correction.

I like the Stihl range. Well done Steve.

Aaron, thank you.

All their equipment not only presents well, but is easy to maintain and very intuitive to use

Drives, yet again thank you.

You are spot on in regards to draining the carby when it sits for a long period, the sales guy actually recommend I do exactly that. It makes sense and not only that the mix does go stale after a while. I only mix small quantities in any case for that reason.

Steve great choice. I have been using a Stihl chain saw for 47 years and would not change. The latest one is an easy start and I have found that if you get it to fire once, even a little burp, go to the next choke position. Once the saw starts, let it run with the chain moving for half a minute before unlocking the trigger. Warms up and keeps from flooding that way.

I love those Stihl chainsaws!! Can't get along without one. In fact I am replacing mine this month, as I have several limbs to trim. I have several Stihl tools and they seem to start very easily and last a long time. I am a big fan of the weedeaters. I have two of those.

Great additions!!

Best Regards
