Awesome deal on that vise 1/2 Cup. Since it mounts underneath can it share duties on one of your existing benches?
Surely Mrs. 1/2 Cup knows the therapeutic value of a trip to the Big Box store.
In the same vein, spending a bit of money is also very healthy.
You did so well on the vise. Another trip just to drop in on the gentleman is in order, even if there is nothing else for sale you might like. Another visit would surely be good for the both of you.
So glad this chemo was relatively benign.![]()

Nice score on the wood work vice 1/2 Cup.
Here it is becoming cool to do woodwork again and competing with all the finely bearded millennials to get nice stuff these days. That vice would easily fetch over $100.
Makes me glad to see you getting back to a little bit of your good old self! Hope and a healthy disposition is part cure in itself. Keep it up and you'll be showing us youngsters a thing or two in no time.![]()

, thank you1/2......
Good score on the vise........![]()

Wood is a good balance especially when you need low key rehab. Keep up the good work Steve. Bobby
1/2: i've still got my fingers crossed and saying prayers for you to get to 100% or close to it and also rid yourself of that Cancer and visits to the Dr. for Cheemo or meds.
sounds like it's almost like you are Andy's schedule of 6 SATURDAY'S & 1 SUNDAY per week and as you keep getting healthier i bet work will be the last thing on your mind even though you seem to enjoy your job and it's challenges and unique fun you have there too.
take care and looking forward to seeing what your solar E Bath cooks up with that new Dawn.
maybe another bench project out of 100% wood on casters to move into a corner or keep over at the WEST WING to put the DAWN vice on?? here's a cute one i wish i would have kept if i had some space to roll out and hold some of the smaller wood projects to work on lately. these little wood vises can hold a pretty good size piece of wood if you ask them too.
cheers

1/2: great news that you had visitors and about your health gains.
just thinking if i did build a good wood workbench i'd put 2 of those Dawn (or in my case USA made) wood vises on each end cause i could hold a good size piece of lumber in them and use them for holding the wood while i handplane or use a router or drill holes or whatever.
also in case you have any of these floating around on your auction sites or garage type sales sites these old pattern maker vises are very cool. also some wood vises have a QUICK RELEASE button or lever that you can open them up to size and one turn to tighten. the blue one is an ENGLISH RECORD made in England vice that needs it's own E bath.
here's a pattern makers AMT made in Taiwan vise that might show up in your area cause it's a copy of the expensive and old Emmerts.
cheers and continued good luck and prayers sent.
Glad you are feeling better, sounds like that list will keep you occupied as well. I would put rest and smell the roses as the top one though.
Glad to hear you are keeping busy and smelling the roses!!! Best wishes from Canada!

Building a new wood bench sounds like a cunning plan - in between resting and smelling the roses.
Drives, there are Dawn quick release wood vices out in the wild, but I've never seen one that didn't sell for many times more than the $10 bargain 1/2 scored.
I forget what I paid for this 10" quick release jobby, but I don't remember getting too much change from a $100 note at the local dirt market.
I haven't quite finished installing this on my old woodwork bench yet - a seemingly simple project which snowballed into shortening the bench by 8" overall, rearranging the shed to put it in a new location etc. etc.
These vices always benefit from a good set of hardwood jaw faces (yet to be cut and installed in my photo), and i prefer to set them so the top of the jaw faces are an inch or more above the highest metal part of the vice, but flush or a little proud of the benchtop.
This gives a deeper throat to the clamping area, and less likely to strike the vice body with a chisel or plane.
1/2 Cup, I just missed out on a pair of the Dawn screw jack stands on Ebay the other day - they ended up selling for near $130. I was the high bidder $70 clear of the next bidder until literally the last second. Oh well, the hunt continues...

It is good news to hear that you are doing better. Looking forward to the projects.
You might find the attached link interesting while you are resting. They are preparing a Rover K for a run at Bonneville in a MG Midget in the 1 Liter class.

1/2: seems like it wasn't too long ago you were having your 60th BDay. well HAPPY BIRTHDAY and 61 has a nice ring to it and hope there are many many more.
nice to see Andrew has a car collection to access for you to test drive. OMG you look good in that Henry.
i'm hoping this week's CHEEMO goes as well or maybe better than last week and i'm still crossing fingers and saying prayers you get rid of this **** in your system and feel 100% or near to it maybe by Christmas.
cheers and keep up the great progress!!

Happy Birthday Steve!
Birthdays aren't as big a deal as they were when I was a kid but I relish every one now. I know your health scare has made this one extra special so go make some noise with the supercharged MG. Even if you aren't back to full power, a supercharger certainly helps. I blame Lyndon for the supercharged Cadillac in my garage.

Happy birthday, good to see you out with Andrew in another car.
Dwight

Looks like you had a great day 1/2.
Steve
What Bob said ^^^^^ Happy Birthday - good to see you out and about, and in something super charged as well!!!!!
Oh, and Bob - I thought that Caddie was all about telling one of your grandkids that he wasn't getting the inheritance too early! But you really know you living when you've got a supercharged V8 under you.
