Congrats on joining the Cancer Survivors Group! Great news, & welcome aboard.

Now just don’t go rushing that return to work. The 1st time I went back was for 4 hours a day for 3 days a week, & at the end of the 1st few 12 hour weeks I was nearly exhausted. So - don’t push it, especially as you’ve still got to drive home after you’ve finished work...... speaking from experience!

It will be a softly, softly approach returning to work for sure. I really do not want to go backwards either physically or emotionally for that matter.

Your terms sound just like the perfect work conditions. Just checking. Sounds like you know the rules for flying that drone. Now Runway 18 would be Tullamarine ? I wish I knew what flight paths flew over me. Even my Air controller cousin has not told me.

HOTFR8, in terms of our return to work it is pretty good that said it will be on my terms and conditions which the organisation has acknowledged..

Glad to hear the good news 1/2cup. Do ease back into work slowly to pace yourself and no doubt you'll have some fun with that drone amidst the work with it. I watched the intro video for that DJIM 600 and WOW! What a precision piece of equipment. That thing is amazing.

The DJI Matrice 600 is one nice bit of gear let me tell you that's why I do need some practice in the basics before we get let loose on the new UAV. that is the real fun part of work..

Great news Steve. Apparently you are still needed here. Good examples of human nature to emulate are scarce and no doubt God knows that. Happy that the drone is all the view you will have at this time. Selfishly, I will have to say, I'm glad you will have to wait to get your golden wings; but I suspect the course correction you were forced to make has given you greater visibility in return.

I guess we all have to do the odd course correction in life. This one has been and still will be to some extent an amazing journey and I have learnt so much and realised just how fragile our tenure can be at times.

I do have to admit that the news was quite a relief, I am not out of the woods as yet even still but we are getting there..

I dropped into work this morning and have had the discussion with HR and management and they are both suggesting exactly as every one has iterated small steps at a time. When you think about it that arrangement will still give me plenty of QST

Rian, we have the technology to do exactly that some of our engineers have suggested that it would be a great project for our Kick Starters Program we have..

We are very pleased with the results as well.

I believe the return to work in a measured way and under my terms and conditions will really help the recovery process..

It was time to that we installed some more efficient air conditioning in the shed, I have a small split in the Office / Model A section, which work well but will not cool or heat the workshop area. The work shop area has an antique box air conditioner that I was given some 25 years ago, I repaired a leak in the evaporator, vacced and recharged and it still goes or be it not very efficiently or effectively & being R22 refrigerant its days are numbered.
We are also adding another split to the family room that gets installed next week, I have already completed all the electrical and prep work for that..

I firmly believe I am getting back to the Old Me or should I say the "New Normal Me ".

You are spot on even though the after effects of the Chemo, Radiation, Immunotherapy are diminishing every day now to a point where I am eating full meals now & gaining weight ( with another 15 kg 30 lbs to go mind you ) I still have to increase the muscle tone that I lost big time but it will not happen over night..

All things are positive at the moment which is great, I have only another couple of days to transition off the Steroids and Antibiotics.

Still, I have to take things very easy and not over do things.

I thank you for you continued thoughts and prayers they are truly appreciated and quite clearly having a profound effect..

In regards to an all round drone you can not go past either the DJI Phantom 3 or 4 , we have the Pro 4. at work. It is very user friendly and a delight to fly with a reasonable amount of battery time..
The camera produces some fantastic images as well.

Our new Matric 600 will be delivered, so I found out last night, on the 13th of next month so I am looking forward to that..

Andy, Ours is mainly a dry heat, that said we do get the odd day during summer that the humidity goes through the roof. You do get used to the heat and work around it some what.

Drives, as I explained to Andy you do tend to work around it,. The hardest thing is going in and out of a nice air conditioned office or car into the heat. Our work hours are flexible enough to start early and knock off early to beat the heat. If you are out in the heat it is manageable..

The last couple of days I have been beavering away in the Shed Downunder fabricating all the bracketry, supports for the indoor and outdoor units and wiring as I go.

This is the unit I have elected to go with for both the familly room and Workshop area of the Shed Downunder,
coming from a Refrigeration background in a past life I do tend to over size things some what..

The familly room install, with the exception of the electrics of course will be done by the supplier so as not to void the warranty and is booked in for Wednesday this week.

The split A C in the shed I will be doing the entire installation my self, just because I can and save a few $$$s

Unfortunately I was not able to take the drone home for the week end due to some firmware issues, however these should be resolved by next week end..

I am returning to work for 5 hours tomorrow and we will see how that goes for starters. I have heaps of work to keep me occupied and off the streets.

Then I may go in on Friday for the morning as well, depends on how I feel to be honest as I am starting to really get a feel as to what retirement will be like with all the things I have been able to achieve over the last month or so..

Even though I do enjoy my work it was a little surreal returning there yesterday. I started at 6.30 am and pulled the pin at lunch time.
I spent most of that time catching up with my work colleagues and deleting some 1500 odd emails. I found my self a little rusty on some of our systems but got there in the end, however I was great to knock off early.

At this stage I will be going back to work on Tuesdays and Fridays.

I did cope with every thing pretty well when its all said and done

Glad you are back at the UAV gig as well. I worked with getting a group here off the ground to do aerial mapping of Gravel Pits and Landfills etc for volume calculations and mapping. That was back in 2008 and man has the technology changed. We were one of the first in Canada to get our operating certificates and it was the wild west. Fast forward and my DJI Mavic Pro does a lot of good things and does it better than our $15K +++ aircraft back then.

Its good to keep a thread moving or be it not all shed related but its me..

The technology and software in relation to Drone Operation as well as the mapping and processing software is changing almost on a daily basis. It does my head in just trying to keep up with it as a relative newby

I am looking forward to get some hands on flight time before the delivery and training of the DJI Matrice on the 13 th of next month.

Drives, apologies but no thread on the install. When you have two contractors doing the basic install and me doing the electrical connections it was all go and was completed in six hours flat from go to whoa I did not have time to scratch my self..

I did the penetration through the brick wall to run the refrigerant and drainage lines under the floor ( our home is built up on stumps so we have access underneath ), I basically removed 1/2 a brick by plugging out the mortar then making a cut with my 4" grinder with a diamond blade and then the 1/2 brick knocks out easily with a brick bolster.
The hole will the be sealed up with a mortar mix to keep it vermin proof

Day two of Return to Work this morning.
I started at my usual time of 6.30 and knocked off at 12.00 noon, it will take me a month of Sundays to catch up on things but I am chipping away at things slowly. This morning I had to complete my personal skills matrix to assess my development and training needs then interviewing on of our graduate engineers in relation to his developmental requirements as well.

Now that people know that I am back the emails are starting to roll in, but I will do only what I can reasonably squeeze into a 1/2 day.
