That saw and stand look great Steve. Sending some prayers for you from TX.

Bret

Bret, thank you:thumbup:

Your support is truly appreciated.

So pleased to see your progress Steve! You have our prayers daily.

I know you'll enjoy the multi-engine rebuild. Not so much when you find out Andrew has a side business selling them...:spit:

Days are getting longer and spring is on it's way. We all will enjoy your photo accounts of the A build.

Andy thank you so much, appreciated.

I will enjoy the engine builds, the shed is rapidly becoming a production line for Rover K Series engines at the moment and as for him selling them on the side so will the cost rapidly escalate from nothing to a flat rate of $50 AU per hour plus consumables and that's cash up front let me tell you.

I can't wait to be posting pictures of the Model A coming together..

I hope that is a week off from work for you as well to recover from being a human pin cushion.

HOTFR8 its been great not being a pin cushion for the last week:thumbup:
I am suffering a fair bit of joint soreness which is a side effect of the Immunotherapy but if that's all I have to put up with I do consider myself lucky..

Few pics of the 2 mgf’s together  also very nice to fire up the 1/2 works k series!

Andrew Its good to see them together.. your shed is as full as mine now..

Always thinking positive thoughts concerning your full recovery Steve.

Nice looking saw you have there.

Dan thank you, I am doing pretty well considering..

The cold saw is just such a godsend in the workshop, nice clean cuts and it does not annoy the neighbors.

Andrew, those MGs look really nice. No wonder your dad is so eager to help you with them. If I were in his shoes, I'd be helping too. Of course, I'd want a little seat time every now and then.

xtremek they are certainly vastly different than the Model A, I have learnt quite a lot on just what makes these things tick. They, like most modern cars are bristling with electronics and its a brave new world for me.

Saw looks great!

Sent from my LG-H918 using The Garage Journal mobile app

njhoudini thank you, The saw has already proven its worth even though its an older model and was fairly knocked about when I got it, it works well.

Interesting little article on the Cup Car:beer:

Andrew that's interesting I did not know of the Cup Cars background.

Andrew, Do you have two cars now?

HOTFR8 yep TWO of the beasts.:shocking:

Then there is the #76 car of Andrews wife's uncles whos engine I am putting together now:thumbup:

Thank you one and all for you visit, have a great day..

Hmmmm Yep !!

One of 32 factory built race cars and I had to have one

Like you do when they come up for sale. I can tell you a story about a friend who found an ARDUN engine for his 1932 Roadster and when it came up for sale he said to his wife we just have to have it and she said yes. Not sure what they missed out but both of them know what they have was worth it and it is still in that Roadster.

So when you say you just have to have it I know just what you mean.
I plan to visit those friends again next year.

HOTFR8 yep TWO of the beasts.:shocking:

Then there is the #76 car of Andrews wife's uncles whos engine I am putting together now:thumbup:

So twice the work for you and twice as much time Andrew needs to help you with the A.

I’ll get my k series works out of dads hair so we can post progress on the A ! It’s been a childhood dream to see dad finish it knowing the details he works to, I just need to extract some k series info then the A it is.

1/2: I guess most of the guys forgot that the last time Andrew let you drive one of his MG's on a race track you broke it, but I bet Andrew will let you try it or the new car when it's ready.

good to see that Andrew wants to help you with the Model A so maybe it can bump up in between engine or car rebuilds?

hope all is well in your world and wish I could blow you some of this great weather we are having here in the PNW.

cheers

Andrew: I thought the last MG was maybe your 3rd one or was the 76 (car dad drove on the track that had an issue) yours? don't you also maybe have a few classics that you help maintain of your uncle's or father in law's that might need a few test runs on the track too so you don't get bored?

keep up the great work and always fun checking in on you and your dad's thread.

Drives not guilty of breaking the MGF #76 it was Andrew's wife's uncle ( the cars owner ) who did it all by himself or I should say it was a grenade ready to explode in the first place. Sadly I did not get to drive that day like I was supposed to.

There is quite a few MGs of all ages in his wife's uncles shed..

Andrew helps out around here a lot which is great..

Looks like the Memo worked Guster. Will be great to see progress on the MG's and the A model.

Drives, you know race cars always break.

HOTFR8 they do sadly..

 I am full of ideas :rolleyes2 .

I always thought you were full of something, but I didn't think it was ideas:lol_hitti Sorry, I just couldn't let that one pass.

I'm not surprised that you're pushing your boundaries. And we all know that you'll learn more from this than most people (other than Andy) are able to learn in a lifetime.

OK can I pick your brain? I need an idea now how I clean up my computer keyboard and screen :spit:......:headscrat Just shows I am not full of ideas. :(

That sure left a big mess. :lol_hitti

Give your computer swimming or flying lessons?

And since I have your attention, and begging Steve's indulgence, how's your truck doing? I haven't seen anything on it in a while.

Expensive cleaning suggestion. :headscrat

Has been too cold, wet and miserable to have either of the trucks out. The F4 needs a clean and the International has the canvas cover off to have the zips repaired so it is locked away as well not wanting to get any thing that is kept in the back wet.

I wonder if 1/2 will indulge us?

This is why I never built a car to race on Lake Gairdner. :( Such a long way to go to break it then bring it home. Hopefully some A progress soon.

Yep it has been cold an miserable here, but its nice in the Shed with the air on let me tell you.

I will miss a little weekend QST tomorrow as I have to work doing the final commissioning of a Building Management System at our head office in Tatura.

http://visitshepparton.com.au/see-and-do/towns-and-villages/tatura

We can only do the commissioning out of hours which will involve testing a fail over of our two 250 kva standby generators and load shedding of the air conditioning system and non essential services under a simulated power failure. So it should be fun.

Thank you one and all, enjoy your weekend..

1/2: thanks for the link of the fun stuff to do in your area. is that KINGFISHER touring boat going up rivers where there are maybe crocs and other big critters?

sorry you have to work today, but sounds like you are their MAN so best of luck getting things sorted out.

yep I knew you didn't break that car or that is wasn't your fault when you took the MG (#76) for a spin a while back and hopefully your next trips around the track will be a lot more fun.

here's to feeling better every day!!

cheers

Drives no we don't have crocs or any other nasties in our rivers this far South.

With work you just do what you have to do to get the job done.

I am looking forward to taking the #76 car for a spin when its finished. Work is progressing slowly on the engine as we are still waiting on parts for the most part.

The vise base of the Cold Saw was machined flat on Friday so I spent yesterday afternoon after work reassembling it.

Healthwise, I have my bloods tomorrow and round five of Immunotherapy on Wednesday. Joint, muscle pain, fatigue and breathlessness are the only real side effects so far but I am able to deal with that all right.

HOTFR8 it was an interesting day at work and the commissioning went very well. The power supply to our head office has the capacity of around 800 amps at 415 VAC. Our two standby generators are only capable of supplying half that amount at about 400 amps.
Previously when we had a mains fail all the air conditioning an non essential services would be shut down as the generators would not cope and this is not a real desirable situation on a 40 degrees C day as the building heats up very quickly. The single storey building houses about 250 people.
The air conditioning system was up graded last year with the objective being to 1 . replace an ageing system and 2. install a more energy efficient system and in tandem with the upgrade it has been necessary to have a building management and a fail safe electrical control systems in place to manage the generators loads.
Our final commissioning yesterday was an all round success where we can now manage the load profile of the building and maintain 65% of the air conditioning load in an outage.

Along with other energy saving initiatives like replacing all our office lighting with LED technology these have dramatically reduced our power bills and carbon foot print in the head office with the next phase being he installation of solar power.

Thank you gentlemen , have a great day.

Sounds to me like a day you enjoy and not a day you would call work. You just have to love what you do to enjoy it so much.

HOTFR8 the day was great fun tweaking a couple of generators and being able to control the system under realistic power fail situations and all working well.

Good luck on Wednesday Steve. Prayers for you.

Bret

1/2: great to hear you are helping move your company's electric and power solutions into the next century!!

I can't even imagine doing all the doctor's visits and tests you've had to do this past year, but it seems like it's putting you back on your game so best of luck with the new tests and meds.

take care and prayers again sent!!

HOTFR8 With the hourly rate I am going to charge I will be able to afford contracting out the rest of the restoration.

Sometimes the "family discount" is the only way to get time to work on your own stuff. Unfortunately(or not), I moved 1200 miles away, but am no longer the family mechanic.

Steve, hoping the continued therapy takes care of everything and you can get back on track. Maybe Andrew will let you drive the "old" MGF occasionally.

As HOTFR8 put it I am the proverbial human pin cushion. You just do what you have to.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you as well with your Dad in hospital.

You are spot on there.

Andy thank you as well.

It has been a busy couple of days with a GP visit last evening to sort meds out, my Hospice nurse home visit in the morning, Oncology doctor visit just after lunch then my Immunotherapy in the afternoon and all did go well.
I have another cycle of Immunotherapy ( No 6 ) in two weeks time and then a week later a CT scan to check just how we are progressing, fingers crossed we are hoping to see some progress.

Ric I am hearing you but we are not moving any time soon. Just like I am no longer the familly electrician since my hourly rates went to $200.00 per hour with a call out fee of a flat $50.00.:lol_hitti

My treatment is going well to date but my next scan will be the real teller.

I have no doubt I will be behind the wheel of an MG in the near future.:3gears:

Thank you one and all, have a good one..

Had a couple of blood tests myself in the last few weeks (all good) and on one visit I had to say strike 3. Luckily she found a vein on the 3rd attempt. I sure know how you must feel when it comes to pin cushions. I still have the bruise to prove it and if she had not found a vein on the 3rd try I was going to be out the door.

A good outlook on life, work and family etc. must help.

HOTFR8 after reading what you have been through I think I am pretty lucky really as the nurses that do my bloods and Immuno are spot on thankfully, with no pain and no bruising.:thumbup:

Front subframe removed for rebuilding, luckily I have all the parts. A bit of sandblasting and powder coating should bring things back to shape :beer:
