1/2: i'm hoping you are doing a lot better with all these doctor visits and meds, but sounds like you had a nurse come by for a home visit and you mentioned HOSPICE. around here that isn't a good thing so I hope it means something else DOWN UNDER. are you ok?

sending prayers again and wishing for the best.

also thanks for the well wishes for my 85 year old dad that just sort of woke up yesterday when we weren't at the hospital and sort of talked to the nurse so who knows maybe he'll make a full recovery like the doctors were hoping he would.

cheers and hope you are enjoying your weekend!!

ANDREW: looks like you've got the new MG project on the top of the list and keep up the good work!!

Thanks all,
Dads been busy this weekend chasing around my nearly 2 year old and tinkering in the shed!
Hospice are great they have many programs, from the not so good to the easier like dad, they visit people who are going through treatments to see how they are traveling.
So all is still going well I’m pleased to say.

The cup car will be atleast a 2 year project but progress is underway, I’ll be uploading pics of progress for sure.

Thank again to all of you !

Good luck with the medical stuff mate. Sounds like you have the right outlook which makes all the difference.

Hewey things are ticking along ok.

That's one thing that I have learnt through all of this and that is " look forward and not backwards.

May not be visible as most of my time has been spent doing honey-do's and praying for friends. The important stuff!! Just thought I would drop a line to say hang in there Steve.

Bobby many thanks, it is appreciated.

Drives all is well apart from the side effects of the Immunotherapy with my joint pain but that's pretty manageable.

Out this neck of the woods if you are diagnosed with a potentially life threating illness like cancer you can be referred to specialist Hospice care.

http://hospice.shepparton.net.au/#xl_xr_page_ourservices

Their support and services are second to none and they co ordinate all my Treatment, Doctors and Oncologists. Best of all they are on call 24/7, visit regularly and provide a great sounding board not only for me but the whole familly. It is not as bad as is sounds.:thumbup:

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

I trust your Dad will make a full recovery.

All, Mrs 1/2 Cup is on a mission to repaint our Dinning and Lounge rooms so I have spent a fair bit of time over the past couple of weekends moving furniture, lifting off outlets, masking up and general prep work.

Andrew dropped of the MG F Cup car engine yesterday which makes 5 in the Shed now.

Thank you one and all, have a great week end..

Sounds like you need a regular engine assembly line set up in your shed now. From moving furniture to building race engines you are one busy man. But its good to stay busy and active. All the best for your continued good health and always looking forward to happenings in the shed.

Bob thank you.

There is never ever a time that I can say I am bored.

It does seem like the Shed Downunder is a production facility right now but its lots of fun.

I have to admit I have learnt a lot working on modern engines, modern or not the basics still apply.

Thanks guys, have a good one..

1/2: your Hospice sounds quite a bit different than what i've heard ours is like. over here when that word is mentioned it's where all hope is lost and your final days are lived out with that kind of care.

great to hear the people down under have such a wonderful care service and as i'm gaining more faith in our medical people up here after watching them care for my dad I wish we had the same kind of service here.

i'm still not convinced I need to go to a doctor for the things that go wrong with me cause I believe diet and exercise and the right natural medications can cure most things. i'm still very happy to hear you are doing much better though using the doctors and medicines in your part of the world.

best of luck with all the engine work and hope you and Andrew get some time for your Model A.

keep up the great progress in health and your life.

1/2 Cup: hope you're doing well and loading up on antioxidants! Some of my favorites include coffee (I probably drink 3-6 whole cups daily) and fruits with dark skins like blueberries. Dark chocolate also has a lot of them too.

Drives I have to admit I did think the same when I heard the word Hospice care but the reality is vastly different to what the word conjures up. I have a dedicated care nurse that basically co ordinates all my treatment and any other support services I may need at any time and can cut through some of the red tape you can sometimes encounter in the system. Their services are also extended to my immediate familly in terms of counselling and support. This is all at no cost mind you and is government funded.

The support and care right across the board that I have received over the past 12 months has been second to none.
I have rapidly learnt to listen to what my body is telling me.

At the moment my biggest challenge is joint and muscle pain management along with some fatigue which is treatment after effects but I am coping fine.

I am doing what I can in the shed when I can and the #76 cars engine is slowly getting there in amoungst doing stuff for Mrs 1/2 Cup as she progresses with repainting the lounge and dinning rooms.

We will get there.

njhoudini you are spot on there blue berries and lots of them.
I used to be a real big coffee drinker but since my Chemotherapy I have not been able to take to it again. The Chemo really messes with your taste buds but I am hoping this will change in time.

Thanks for dropping by and have a top day..

Really good to see such good support services over there. Looks like you are in good hands Steve!

Hope all goes well this week and another nice mild winters day. Hehe... my phone is still synced to Sydney weather.

Guster we do have great support networks out here with out a doubt. I am getting looked after really well:thumbup:

The weather is getting noticeably milder out here, that said it can still turn real cold in an instant.

I have been out and about with work this week which has been a great change from sitting in front of a computer.

A couple of pump site inspections near Echuca.

https://www.echucamoama.com/

A generator installation inspection at Goulburn Weir.

https://www.g-mwater.com.au/downloads/gmw/Storages/Goulburn_Weir_Fact_Sheet_FINAL_for_web.pdf

Then on Monday up to Albury for a switchboard factory acceptance test.

Steve, it’s good to see you still posting and keeping busy amidst your recovery. We’re sending lots of positive energy your way from the other side of the planet :)

Dennis I am doing well and really grateful for all the support I have received and I do believe its helping my recovery...

I think some of the advantages right now, for you Steve is that you are letting your body dictate the pace, and that you have various support systems in place, from Mrs 1/2 to family, friends and the great healthcare team you have affecting your recovery pathway, perceptions and a very positive attitude despite your experiences, which do not necessarily translate well into print.
Pain is one of them, and joint pain is a ******, I used to work in pain a long time ago, so also know the physiology of pain. Some days, like today, it will take me up to 30minutes from waking up, just to be able to walk upright, pills do help, but I fight that. I do not listen to my body very well. :wtf:

Then there is this forum, your second line of defence, which is so very important, because despite the distance, we are all part of your family, support system, and many of us have experienced the same, similar, or even worse in our lives as you are.
By sharing with us, you are able to analyse and process part of the goings on inside your body and mind. You also motivate many of us, me included in various ways, a true brotherhood.

Keep taliking, we are here, listening and looking out for you.

1/2: I forgot if you were going to have QST time this weekend or if you had other plans?

as it seems to get hotter here every day now I'd like to blow some good weather your way, but sounds like you are in a good spot where your winters just are not that bad.

hoping you had a great weekend.

Drives I have just been pottering on the #76 MGFs engine this weekend as the new parts arrive.

. Set up the fuel injection system and resurface manifold which fought me all the way but I won in the end.
. Installed the flywheel.
. Started on the modified distributor drive set up so it is the same as the old race engine. The Rover K Series has many different variants of ignition systems which makes things pretty interesting to say the least.

Other than that I have been taking things easy.

It is still cold out here with just a hint of spring in the air.

Trusting you have had a great weekend as well..

1/2: JUST POTTERING AROUND THE SHED?? looks like you did a complete engine rebuild and a very nice quality one that is for certain. WELL DONE!!

you get some of these projects done so quickly it's hard for us normal folk to watch, but we love pictures and we're still hoping to do as well with our projects.

it also looks like your son has inherited your skills for quality and neatness too!!

Andrew: thanks for the pics of your Rover engine your dad spiffed up (in his spare time no less). also i'm not sure what we are looking at with all the wires, but it looks like they are secure now. just curious what brand you and your dad like for ZIP TIES (monkey ties or whatever name you call them) cause I seem to always pick up packs at sales and I need to buy some good quality ones now? I bought a 100 pack at Home Depot a month or so ago and broke the first 2 i used while tightening them so returned them and i'll get back to that project someday when it's not 90 degrees in my garage so looking for a better quality.

looks like your MG #76 might be on the road sooner than later? do you have a race in mind for it or just want it running again?

good to see you guys down under are getting a few things done while it's not so hot.

To be honest I have been a little slow of late with the joint pain and muscle soreness hopefully that will diminish in time after the treatment has finished.

One less engine in Dads shed , Aiden (my nearly 2 year old) Dad and I stripped the #007 mgf cup car engine, there is still some bits and bobs I need to collect from dads, But another job well done.
Some good quality parts steel billet crank and Arrow rods - £4000 pound new shall be a good baseline.:beer:
