Matias at the moment things are going in the right direction, the scans really do show just how well they are going. It is amazing the detail that you see in them

I started reading when you were on page 260 or something like that late 2016 and recently started working my way though from page 1 ALL THE WAY to 260ish because I felt like I opened a 500 page novel in the middle and read to the end. I thought of it as reading the prequel and it did not disappoint. I guess you could say I had 1/2 cup done and I wanted to know what was in the other 1/2 cup

Our tenants in the West Wing have vacated and there is a few things we would like to do to the property prior to the next tenants moving in. We have been lucky so far as the property has been well cared for thus far.

xtremek we are really thankful that the home has been well looked after and about the only thing that I have to do is detail the gardens.

We have also been making a few minor improvements while we have the opportunity so I have added some additional storage cupboards in the laundry and just general maintenance like an air conditioner service, lawns and of course Mrs 1/2 Cup wants to repaint the front fence.

Still I enjoy doing stuff like this and the week will go pretty quickly.

Drives in amongst the work for the West Wing I have been busy helping Mrs 1/2 Cup rearrange the second bedroom into her craft room, she is actually doing the project management and I am just the furniture flat pack assembler type person multi tasking as an electrician from time to time adding additional socket outlets as required.

I don't have Immunotherapy this week and I am functioning well, still taking it easy I might add. There is always plenty to do around here and as the weather is warming up slightly the lawns are starting to need mowing nearly every week now so I have been prepping the garden and lawns for summer.

Bad tenants don't pay their bills, trash the place, and stay until you have to evict them because they can't manage well enough to find something else. They also leave owing maximum utility bills. They don't have enough money to pay their bills but somehow have enough to collect enormous amounts of trash and damaged good stuff they leave behind.

There seem to be few in between tenants, but some do pay for several years before they become bad tenants.

I admire 1/2 Cup's willingness to wait for a great tenant to come along rather than rent to a bad one. I could never tell them apart.

I bet we see another great tenant in the West Wing.

Andy fortunately we have had no bad tenants at this point in time and have not had to experience the bad ones.
The rental market here is such that you do have a wide tenant demographic to select from so its just a matter of biding your time, good tenants are out the in the mix for sure.
We do try and present the property as if we would live in it our selves and secondly our property manager assists us no end to find the right tenant.

We do have to be considerate of our nice and quiet neighbourhood we live in, not withstanding we do live next door as well.

Just prior to me typing this out we have had an acceptance of a new tenant that did an inspection yesterday to take over the property next week.

I just have a few things to tidy up in the West Wing and I am done.

Drives we have been blessed so far and from all accounts our new tenants should be ok, they moved in yesterday.
We met formally met them with our Property Manager and they get my tick of approval and they are aware we are next door which met with their approval as well
It was a short turn around to get the home spick and span ( not that it was to bad anyway but Mrs 1/2 Cup is pedantic about having things just right )

Unfortunately there was not enough time to do any capital upgrades at the moment but they can for the most part wait for a bit but we can go ahead with the front fence as it does not impinge on their privacy which we respect to the upmost.

The final touches to number 76's new power plant, this was a purchased VHPD engine which dad did the final details. This shall be a good stop gap engine unitll I get the chance to arrange a full build with dads input and guidance. This should enable dad to have some space in the shed.

The Crew Chief was on the ball and under our feet all the time and although not two yet is great in the shed.

Andy young Aiden is great in the shed but you really have to keep your eye on him 100% of the time as he is just so inquisitive.

At that point I had not installed the heat shields but they were done today so it is all ready to install.

It is not as pretty as Andrews engine but its nice and clean.

yep the little ones sure do like to listen and learn and question and i bet you are and you'll be a fantastic Grampa and role model for yours. even though the little ones might get hurt some of the best lessons are learned from trying and maybe not quite succeeding the first time. hence my using my REAL SAW in my supposedly toy tool kit and cutting through a piece of wood into my index finger and i can still see the scar.

always fun checking in to see what you are up to and happy to hear you approve of the new tenant and I really am saying prayers he's a blessing and helpful and not a user.

Andrew: you'd better keep the old guy around if you are going to keep bringing in and taking out nice looking engines and cars so maybe your prayers should be even more often than mine.

You can't shelter the young ones all their life and perhaps stifle their learning at this young age however menial it may seem.

Nice one! Three generations of lads keeping each other occupied. Nice engines too. Bet those shiny stainless exhaust headers will look even better after a few hour driving put some colour on them.

Those early days in the shed definitely set me up on a path for life. The day I picked up my dad's largest angle grinder and pulled the trigger while he wasn't looking taught me more about machine safety(and bowel control) than any other safety lecture. Same with every steel splinter I had to pick out by myself.

Drives my Immunotherapy went well but my Thyroid blood count is starting to drift making me feel very sore, tired and fatigued so my Oncologist has upped the medication to counter act those side effects.

Mrs 1/2 Cup has not started repainting the front fence of the West Wing as yet, I think we are both still recovering from the hectic week we had last week.

I was brought up on a farm in my younger years and the unwritten rules were " that if you broke it you fixed it " and we also spent a great deal of time in my Grandfathers black smith shop firing up the forge and making all sorts of fun stuff that you would probably get locked up for nowadays. It certainly was a great start in life.

Steve engine looks great, and the grandson I'm sure is an inspiration! Kids having kids that will actually change the would for the better; starting off next to the work instead of the videos. Now that's an inspiration.

Young Aiden is not quite two yet and is just so inquisitive and I find it so fascinating to watch him in the shed at this age and teaching him right from wrong.


All we have a public holiday here in Victoria to celebrate of all things the upcoming football Grand Final tomorrow. I am making the most of it in the garden today and hopefully find some QST on Saturday and Sunday now that next door is all sorted and Mrs 1/2 Cups' bedroom to Craft room is completed.
My next part time project is another cylinder head port and polish for Andrews' MG F Rover K Series engines.

Ralf99 these public holidays are a bit bizarre to say the least when you think of it
Any way they do provide a few extra days of QST.

I used carbide burrs, stones, a variety of abrasive grit flap wheels and then finally hand finish with 3M Scothbrite. There is a heck of a lot of work to get a head to that point let me tell you but I am quite proud of how it turned out, the dyno results were testament to that.

That head looks too nice to use.

xtremek it is a shame that you don't see it after we close the engine up.

You better hope Mrs 1/2 doesn't see you polishing that cylinder head in her house :lol:

Your pic and description of Aiden's inquisitive nature reminds my of the time I was servicing our swamp cooler on our roof and turned to find our 2 year old standing beside me. He climbed a 7' stepladder, went over the guttering onto the garage roof, then transitioned onto the main roof. Mind you, he has Muscular Dystrophy and couldn't walk very well, even for his young age. He acted like it was no big deal as I grabbed him and hugged him tightly as we made our way off the roof! They keep you on your toes!

HOTFR8 some of the roads up there would make for a spectacular circuit, that said It would never happen.

Tarrengower is a classic We have communications equipment up there.
