Steve, enjoy that micro lift :)

Merry Christmas..and stay cool.

You mentioned clean solar panels. Are you up there hosing off dust, or is there some other magic at play here? You’ve had the panels up for a few years now..overall thoughts on efficiency, hardware, etc?

Dennis my lift is really handy.

Merry Christmas to you an your familly, it has been a warm one cracking the 100 F out here.

We cleaned the 24 solar panels a few weeks back, they were washed with mild soapy water with a soft broom then rinsed off. Basically they were getting a bit grubby and smeary as a window does although the cleaning did not make a significant difference to their out put on the day as it was a little overcast I suspect we will see it trend up over the next few months of summer weather..
I am very happy that we went with the Enphase units ( 1 per 2 panels ) and to this point in time we have had no trouble at all and have saved better than 2/3 of our pre solar power bill. Our next challenge is to cut our electric hot water bill by either solar electric or instantaneous gas which will see our electrical usage drop dramatically.

Merry Christmas Steve to you and the gang. Be good to see your shop full of rusty bangers (not for long!) Bobby

Bobby, like wise.xmas

At the moment it is full of late model Rover K Series that I have to deal with first.

Merry Christmas to you and yours Steve! I hope your health continues to improve!!! Me likey the lift table. I am more than a little jelly to tell the truth.

Joe

Joe, many thanks and like wise.xmas

You should get your self a lift table you will not regret it.

1/2: MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

the sounds of MODEL A with a V8 were heard here in the PNW and we weren't quite sure what it was cause we have Boeing making and flying their test planes here. I suppose if you can't put one of those aluminum Rover engines in your cool Model A the sounds of a V8 if you can swing it sounds pretty good.

good luck!!

cheers and hope you and your family have a great day!!

Drives we had a top day yesterday with all the familly xmas

Only the original 4 cylinder or a flathead would be politically correct in the Model A for me..

Merry Christmas Steve! xmas

Dan and the same goes to you and yours.xmas

Steve, a lift table has been on my list for a long time. I may have to move it higher on the list -- my back is OK and I'd like to keep it that way.

It's Christmas down under so have a Merry one (and a great Boxing Day). I feel like you got your Christmas present through this year. Have a Happy New Year and continued good health.

Bob you are spot on there with the lift table I know you would get a lot of use out of one.

Its Boxing Day here now and I trust you and yours are having a wonderfull day and all the best for the New Year..

Yep! Nothing like a V8!

Merry Christmas Steve!!!
Cheers to all!

Slim, spot on:3gears:

I hope that you and yours are having a wonderful day.Dan and the same goes to you and yours.xmas

The sound (pun intended) of an A-V8 sure has livened up your topic.
Have a great day.

It sure has HOTFR8, we hade a great day..

Here's hoping you and yours are having a merry Christmas.

Shorty we most certainly did have a great day and I wish you and your family the same.xmas

Merry Christmas, here’s to many more!

Strouty like wise to you and yours I hope that you are having a wonderful day.xmas

I know - late as usual - but life is very busy at present. I'm slowly making my way round....

I hope you, Julie and the rest of the family had a great Christmas, and are now relaxing into the heat of Boxing Day.

I hope 2019 brings all the health and happiness you deserve.

1/2 Cup, I hope you had a great Christmas and also hope that flathead deal works in your favor. A stout flatty in your Model A would be super cool. Best of luck.

Lyndon you will get there, I can relate to being busy.

We had a top day and I trust yours was too.

I am looking forward to 2019 health and happiness for sure are number one for sure.

Its been ****** hot ( + 100 ) here and will be like that for the rest of the week. I have been pottering in the shed today and it real nice with the air conditioner on making it pleasant to work in.

I also went to Total Tools with their Boxing day 20% of sale and picked up some consumables while I had the opportunity. It was bedlam in the shopping areas let me tell you..

1/2 Cup, I hope you had a great Christmas and also hope that flathead deal works in your favor. A stout flatty in your Model A would be super cool. Best of luck.

Bob
, we had a fantastic day and I trust yours was as well.

We are still yet to swing the deal with the flat heads which will happen in the new year. It will be on condition as I understand it they all have their heads removed and sumps off so that will help a lot to determine what we are willing to pay plus I am not sure what vintage they are. I would prefer a later model one.
Fingers crossed on this one:thumbup:

When I worked at a precious metal factory, we had a lift trolley just like yours and the pedal at the back had an appetite for shins. It was however very useful. So enjoy it, but best be wary.

Merry Christmas! xmas

All its been real hot here these last few days reaching 109 f so things have slowed down a bit, the Air Conditioner in the shed is worth its wait in gold and I have just been pottering finishing up bits that have been waiting my attention for a while now.

One of those projects was to put this antique, locally made worm drive chain block that I picked up some time ago back together as I won't be restoring it any time soon. All lubed up it works a treat.

Talking about the heat should that be wait or weight in gold? I know the heat got to me today as well. Hey I can wait for the gold if you are going to set the weight from that present project.

My cooler in Sheddwellers is working hard today as well.

HOTFR8 I have to admit the heat did get to me as well. Stay cool, plenty of fluids and limit physical activity during the hottest part of the day so I will be up early tomorrow to get the out door work done early..

Get Malcom to bring Mr Oakley to look at the flat heads, he will see things 99.9% will miss. Huge bonus to have him onsite for negotiation purposes.... Malcom takes usually anyway but just make sure he attends. If he goes then u can buy what u like and use an engine stand or 3

1/2: I love the old pulley and not sure i've ever seen one with that style mechanism before. if you'd like to just remove some rust getting a gallon of evaporust and soaking this in a bin will really spiff it up and then once rinse putting on BLO will give it the naked steel look I bet you'd like. or even wiping it down with WD 40 on a rag or something similar if the rust bothers you at all will get rid of some of the rust.

sorry to hear you still have a bit of Pneumonia and hope you get that out of your system soon. hard to believe it can take hold when your temps are over 100 degrees so best of luck with that.

yep I'm sure your Model A will be something once you get back to finishing it cause it looked like it was in a doctor's office the last pics I saw of it.

have a good day in the SHED if you don't have to go in to work today and hope you find something fun to do.

cheers

Drives the worm drive chain block is a real oldy and has some great patina.
I have already given some of the parts the treatment in the Solar Powered Electrolysis bath an spayed over with WD40 this should last until I get around to restoring it properly.

What I have is Pneumonitis ( inflammation of the lungs - a side effect of the Immunotherapy ) as distinct from Pneumonia which is an infection in the lungs. The higher temperatures just make me a little a little breathless probably due to the air density.

I do want to get back to the Model A when I can:thumbup::thumbup:

I am still on leave for another week so I will get some QST for sure..

Really cool old chain fall. I've never seen a worm drive like that. Absolutely self locking. Looks like it needs to be put in service. Tools like that enjoy helping rather than watching.

Sorry about the pneumonitis but we know you're in good care...

1/2: while I know 40+ hours to start and finish one of those engines is a lot of work I can only imagine how much Andrew (and you) will be smiling once you finish one again. good luck with that!!

I second Lynn's wish that your health issues are resolved in 2019 and you can start living your daily life again without doctor's appointments scattered all over your calendar.

all the best and more prayers sent.

cheers and have a wonderful 2019.

Andy I just fell in luv with chain fall when I first saw it on EBAY it works like a treat after a bit of a clean up and is rated at one ton and it will be put into action for sure..

I am coping well with the pneumonitis and on antibiotics for the next two weeks or so.

Drives the last engine has been a great success and I am hoping this one will be the same with lots of lessons learnt we can only hope that we can only squeeze a few more horse power out of it.

10 plus hours on the inlet ports thus far.

Hey, best of the New Year Steve! Maybe bottle up some heat and send it our way as we are forecast to -25C tonight.

That head port looks very nice indeed. I've done a few myself and found it quite therapeutic for some reason. I've been very interested in extrudehone.com a logical process..although have never used it myself. It just makes some sense to balance flow of a fluidic abrasive to balance/port a head/intake or exhaust.

= Enthusiasm.

How many others do you have on engine stands again?
No need to reply = Enthusiasm.

May 2019 be a good one for you.

Likewise HOTFR8:thumbup:

X2:bowdown:

Porting a head is great therapy when you really don't feel like doing anything else.

Andy its not as if I don't have anything to do but it is fantastic therapy all the same.

The end result a great feeling of accomplishment from that therapy. :)

Absolutely HOTFR8 especially when the last one I did really topped the charts for that breed of engine:thumbup:

Happy New Year Steve. I hope only the best for you in the coming year.

Bret

Likewise Bret I trust yours will be just the same..

Dennis same same all the best to you and your familly for a fantastic New Year.

I wish there was some form of weather mixer tap I could use, we have been in the high 30s C to 40 C plus Over the last week or so. 25 C all year round would be my idea temperature..

The head is coming up nicely and yes it is very therapeutic I don't mind repetitive work at all when you get a good outcome.

I am very interested extrudehone.com in Abrasive Flow Machining process thank you for the tip.. I essence this is what I am trying to achieve within the limitations of the casting.

Thank you one and all, enjoy your New Years day..
