New tool shopping, so good for the tool box, shed and the soul. You found some very nice and useful goodies. Well done!

Steve, I’m thinking of starting side business. 0c66a57148e76239d6b5363048073dfa.jpg
You jump into the cockpit, donning goggles and a white scarf. I drag you down the freeway at 75 mph/120km while you imagine you’re chasing the Red Baron. lol

1/2: WELCOME HOME!! a new die grinder might be getting a good workout with a few old Rover aluminum engines to shine up?

glad to hear you are feeling a bit better and really happy to hear you are back home.

i'm guessing our weather is about the same at the moment and not too hot or cold for both of us.

cheers and more prayers and best wishes that your health continues on an upward path.

Shorty: that's not a bad idea for a business if you can get all the permits and insurance!!

I understand shopping as therapy. A great feeling going off and finding something you can put to good use. Swap Meets and events are also good for that therapy plus the fact they also can be a great social day out.

HOTFR8 most definitely:thumbup::thumbup:.

Back home: great
Improving: super great!!!!
Good to see you at least taking a walk about to the shop to fondle new tools.

Shorty my improvement is a slow work in progress but we are getting there.
It is certainly better than the hospital ( PS there workshop was out of bounds to me ):lol_hitti

Bob just buying what I needed while it was on sale:thumbup::thumbup:
There is plenty more on the Wishlist I can tell you:thumbup:

Glad to hear that you are getting a little time to potter around the shed. Weather is getting to the point where it is very pleasant working on long sleeves again.

Happy new machinery day. Nice acquisitions too. I have the same pry bar set and use it all the time. The magnetic worklight is neat. Is it on a permanent magnet base?

Think I have the same die grinder too. The paddle handle takes some getting used to. The hidden trick is the locking button on the back. Don't know how I did without it for so long. Next thing I want to get is some long shaft burrs.

Axle stands are NICE!

I always admired the axle stands made from old Ford axle housings. I'm just too sentimental to cut any of them up and passed at an auction recently because they went too high.

The link to new ones took me aback for a second, with the Map of Australia cast in it. I guess you could center punch your location to identify them as belonging at the Shed Downunder.

Keep on keeping on!

VERY jealous on those Dawn stands - I have been watching local sales for those for years and not ever seen one. Nice score.

1/2: nice find on the old Dawn jacks. I love old Dawn tools and i'm still looking for their offset vice (here's a pic so you might know what it looks like in case you find one). I also own quite a few old jacks, but none have that kind of top on them and none are made by DAWN of Australia.

I bet you'd like to get up in a plane again if only for a few minutes and i'm sure you will.

keep smiling and getting healthier!!

cheers

Guster the weather is just fantastic and very comfortable to work in for sure:thumbup:

On the new tools these were must haves. One thing now is that I am pretty well equipped to do most stuff, I hate relying on others when I can do it my self.
The magnetic base on the lamp is removable however it is top heavy. You could easily adapt it as a bolt on if needed. The light works a treat.
My old corded die grinder died a few years ago and I never replaced it as I had a an air powered unit, the Makita was on special so I grabbed it.
I have a set of long shaft burrs, they are real handy for doing cylinder head work.
Keep in mind there are differing torque and speed ranges if you are getting anther.

Convert to the Kennel Down Under and we can have a good laugh. Not that you are in the Dog House. :lol_hitti

HOTFR8 I will put some thought into that one, seriously!

Glad to see you're back in action.

xtremek many thanks I am doing ok and steady as she goes.

Andy like you I could not cut an old Ford axle for an axle stand. The only way I would do it is if damaged to an extent and or not repairable for its original purpose.

The map of Australia is a nice touch:thumbup::thumbup:

Still ticking away.

J.C. you do not see them for sale very often so when I saw these I just had to have them and I did not even bargain the PO down:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

you are spot on Dawn stuff is just the best.

I know where there is a number of those offset vices but who ever has got them would not part with them for the world, I can keep an eye out for one I would luv one myself.
The Axle stands were a real find that matched my other pair I have:thumbup::thumbup:

My long term aim is to get back in the air, I luv my flying and are working at it every day:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Hearing the energy in your posts is very exciting!!

I know what you mean not having to rely on others. You really need a small mill and a home foundry and you can get to cracking.:lol_hitti

Those axle stands are great looking and you got a great deal. I love the design of them. Hard to believe they cost that much but if that popular I guess they command the price.
Another good purchase!

Andy ever so slowly I am on the mend and getting rid of that Chemo Brain.

As much as I do appreciate the help that friends and family freely give I have always been a relatively independent type person as I can see you are and that is something I need to get over and accept now in recovery mode .

Bob I luv the axle axle stands rated at two tons each they really do have form fit and function.

Good to hear you're home and fit enough to get into the shed. Nice score on the axle stands too.

Hewey it is a great feeling to be home and to be able to be in the shed, it really helps big time..

The stands will be under the Model A later tomorrow replacing the two cheapies currently holding the front end off the floor.

All thank you for dropping by and I trust your day is going well:thumbup:

All, Mrs 1/2 Cup and I were privileged this afternoon to have a visit the Shed Downunder from a fellow GJ member and is mother on the way home from a familly reunion.

It is great to put Theodulfs face to the name, catch up to share our common passions and interests.

As a parting gift Theodulf presented me with this memento which reflects a lot of what we do :thumbup:

This was printed at the Sovereign Hill print shop in Ballarat and is now proudly on display in the Shed Downunder.

Put it away… yup that is still a problem. Especially when it is not where I thought I put it 2 years ago. Then again some days I put it down for a second and can’t find it again either. Like my nice new carbide scribe that always finds a way to the floor. How it still has a sharp tip is beyond me. :spit:

Went to Machineryhouse website to take a closer look at the work light you purchased and noticed they now supply Baileigh machines. The prices made my eyes water. But not enough to keep me from drooling over the tools either. A few of them are giving me some neat ideas. Especially all the tube bend formers.

Guster there are the odd one or two around here that should take head of the sign. I would like to think the shed is reasonably organised and clean to avoid that happening.

Machinerywarehouse is starting to stock some more upmarket gear now and Baileigh gear is the creame du la creame of them:thumbup:

What did you think of the light? I luv mine:thumbup:

Guess why some of those are usually not invited back. Especially the ones who come round to ask about what they can borrow. You can bring work to the workshop but I don't lend out tools. Maybe I need a sign too.

Too drastic?

Light looks great. Can use it on other machines too. From time to time I do need something compact and more directional on the lathe. Things like boring to a shoulder or cutting an internal groove or threading. But not enough to warrant more than the pocket LED flashlight I keep handy.

What do you think of the beverly shear clone that they stock?

Guster if I ( and that is rarely ) loan a tool or piece of gear I generally go with that tool and like you I am happy to have you do it here.
Break it you own it and it is replaced with a new one.

I have been tempted to purchase one of their HAFCO Shears ( Taiwanese )but I would like one that could handle up to 16 #. which would be ok for occasional uses and not over loaded.

Price aside my choice would be the Beverly B-2 as it would give you more flexibility.

1/2: i'm in the same boat or school about my good tools too. they either get me and my tools or if i might happen to own a lesser quality or duplicate or triplicate they might get to borrow that, but there is a reason why some of my well used 10 to 30 year old tools work like they should. i'm far from your skills as being organized and I lack some of the cleaning and conditioning i'm sure you do with your stuff, but i'm hoping to get there some day so i'll just keep watching and learning.

good to hear your new Dawn jacks are going to hold up your Model A and hope you are feeling as good as your posts indicate.

keep getting healthier and stop in and make a post or two on the GET HEALTHY thread if you get a chance cause i'm sure there are other members that might have similar stuff you have and not nearly the success or positive attitude you have.

here's the link so you don't have to search for it if you have time, but there are quite a few regulars now so it tends to be near the top and we mostly discuss foods, exercise while discussing our old aches and pains and successes and failures. i've known and know several people fighting Cancer and you are the first one I heard use the term IMMUNETHERAPY (sp?).

https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?p=7821905#post7821905

be careful when putting the new stands under the Model A and you might as well take and post up a few pics if you can just because there is a reason you have it covered. it looked like a brand new car the last time I saw it with all the shiny chrome.

cheers

Definitely with you on the Beverly B-2. Only ever seen one in the wild here in NZ and it sold for $2k because of that. No stockist or distributor here. Resto sold the Eastman clone in the same size as H&F but now only stock a rotary shear which is throatless too and rated up to 1.6mm.

Drives I am with you on the tool borrowing strategy 100%. Its the same for cleaning, general maintenance and putting them back in their place thats why they last a long time. When you look at it we all have a big investment in them so why not look after them:thumbup:

The Dawn stands will match and compliment the other pair I have under the Model A and will grab some pics when I can.

I do drop in to your Get Healthy thread from time to time and have found some great reading and life experiences in that. I should take some time to post when I can.:thumbup:

Here is a link to Immunotherapy that will give you a better understanding of the treatment:

I am doing well in my self however we are still working on the Pneumonitis that has been only marginally improving so that means Intravenous Antibiotics daily for five days and taking things real easy.

1/2: thanks for posting up the links. I have great medical insurance, but I rarely go to a doctor. I don't always feel great and i'm sure something is going on inside me cause I've got a damaging sweet tooth and a fat loaded diet to keep working on improving, but hopefully my own changes and my own immune system will keep me around for a few more years.

I'm so impressed how positive you are dealing with your issues which have been a big part of your life the last year or so and again want to thank you for hanging in there and posting what you can about your health and your progress.

we all hope you get back to 100% and are able to cut the grass and walk with Shelby and finish the Model A so best of luck and hope all is going well with the new meds.

cheers!!!!!!!

Drives I trust you get a greater understanding in me posting the links as I feel is fills in the gaps as to what I am going through. My insurance is good as well.
You are certainly on the right track with the changes you have made and the inspiration you have given to the members of the GJ to do likewise. I tip my hat to you.

A positive attitude is an essential part of any recovery and at the moment is a huge part of what I am doing and life in the Shed Downunder. If it can help just one member it has made my day.

Getting there..:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

Dad has been doing well, despite not posting much he has been very busy tinkering in the shed, sorting loads of stuff out making space- I said for more of my **** but dad declined......he is having a good time freeing up space creating the urge to fill the space with with anything he finds fitting eg more tools from his favourite suppliers.

Dad has been tinkering on another k series head, but this one is just a very basic clean up to keep it original, I requested a basic job but dad said I don't do things in halves..... Who would have thought.
