All of the Amazon links posted here get stripped of referral codes and then get a referral code inserted by garagejournal.com. The site gets a commission on every sale. It's a good idea really.
I'll make sure to post the link on here before I pull the trigger on a purchase to use the link generated here from now on. I would advise others to do the same if they feel like contributing though not necessarily spam the thread(s) w/every purchase if it's not a 'deal'.

Looks like it's got a built-in magnetizer. If it actually works well it might be pretty useful. Might be large for small bits but probably is more practical on the long blades like here -

VESSEL Ball Grip Screwdriver (for home use/Black) [No.220W-BC3C] (interchangeable) (Japan Import) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N4G7AA8?tag=atomicindus08-20

While not an amazing price this is the lowest I've seen this:

VESSEL IMPACT BALL™ Torsion Bit 30+1 PC. Set in SLIDE CASE No.IB31P02U Made in Japan by VESSEL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08WHYFQYL?tag=atomicindus08-20
$26.81 - normally about $31.

Definitely a built in magnetizer. Not sure how to demagnetize the bit though lol (I do have a separate magnetizer/demagnetizer unit though)

The issue I have is that some of the bits aren’t snug in their slot at all and some of the bits are so snug that it’s impossible to pull out with fingers only.

Other vendor says it's 16oz and handles welding. "we'll put it to the test"

this just got here. Pleasantly surprised....decent stitching for the price and the material is indeed thick (think canvas) so not just regular jean denim. Long enough for me (6'3"). The cross strap is a bit unusual and tying a shoelace knot behind you is a skill but you can do half knot and stuff the straps in the apron's front pockets to maintain tension.

edit: the pleather is rather flimsy.

I don't have a boat but should make for decent tool box top liner (maybe; maybe not):

flooring and crimper came in. Flooring is indeed fairly tough foam and smells of sneaker store. It might sustain shoe traffic w/o issue. Decent option for outdoor surfaces.

Crimp tool looks sturdy enough, I think the freebies are probably worth as much as they're charging. I don't have to make any cables atm but inspected for any flaws. One side of the rotating dies is fairly free spinning while the other's takes quite a bit more effort I doubt that's a design feature since both sides look identical. The jaw alignment isn't perfect when they lock in place so it requires slight fiddling manually. No big deal since it keeps you from swapping dies manually or losing the damn things. The mechanism isn't a simple plier but uses a fulcrum/leverage that locks nicely into the final shape. I think it's a no brainer deal if you have to make cables once in a while.

The apron surprised me also for the price so I ordered another one for my wife who is an artist, so she can it for her picture framing and other related tasks in the workshop……. NOT for cooking.

I highly suggest grabbing one of these aprons and making it "The Official Garage Journal Uniform"

It’s active charcoal will filter smell and fumes. Great for diy air filter or just get their filter air scrubber, it’s worth it. One box contains 4 filters, I got 8. Boxes

I was thinking these would be perfect to supplement my Jet AFS-1000B for times I’m making more than just dust in the shop. Can you post a link to the air scrubber?

I have a small room purifier (maybe I ought to check the size), was just curious what others were using it for. Vevor put up a paint booth on sale (ebay thread) too and I figured others were doing some painting duties. I checked their scrubber out tho a bit spendy for my needs.

Scale got here. Small scratch on the display but no biggie. It's fairly stout and have no doubt it can physically sustain the rated max weight. I've had issues w/load cells from China (harborfreight torque meter) killing batteries prematurely (guessing they remain on despite being off) so we'll see about this one. wouldbuyagain/10

Mine came in as well. Once the pleather gives out where the snap hooks attach, I'll replace them with real leather.

Found if you wear the apron a bit higher, you can cross the tie straps behind you and they will meet at your stomach. Thinking of attaching a couple split rings to the folded over pleather tie tips, then joining them with a S-biner clip or a Velcro strap for varying tension.

However there are issues having the straps/hardware to the front of you near rotating machinery, plus anything in your pockets or dangling from that D ring. I'd tie the apron strings behind my back for lathe work. For the price, thinking of picking up a second one of these just for lathe/mill work.

I ordered a bunch to put in my ducted heat exchanger/mini split system.

Hope they’re suitable for that system.

excellent point about loose anything around rotating equipment. I was considering this one as well that does away w/knot tying for anyone looking for a different option/ideas. Ultimately decided against it because reviewers said leather was too thin. Attaching pic of cross-strap too. Harbor freight has something similar to the ones below reasonably priced that I've bought in the past but was kind of small on me if I recall.

if it uses a typical air handler (not a skinny one that goes above the ceiling) it might work if the size is right

It’s installed in the attic above the master suite. One of the returns uses 16x16x1” filters in the ceiling.

It’s a

Not sure if those shop filters that is hanging on the ceiling would fit these. They have a more of weird design so it get more surface area and filtering.

The air scrubbers are these…. You can actually just search by that term plenty results

You can actually see that it’s just a fan in a box house three or four different filters and circulate the air… that bouncy house blower $25 one now $29 I also got… probably will fit well. Or I might actually spend on an air scrubber. But I really have too many fans home…

Might be my welding fumes or works space filter thing to do.

So do you think I can use these Vevors in my HVAC system?
I wouldn't. The hepa hvac systems I've heard of have bypasses just in case the hepa filter gets clogged. If you run it without a prefilter it will clog but how long it takes is anyone's guess. A brand new one might even restrict flow in the system.

Thank you. Unfortunately I will be returning these.

I ordered two dozen #7 bits from Amazon, received 2 bits rolling around in an oversized box with some other stuff. Listing clearly stated $2.90 ( $.24 each)
They are going back. The rest of the bits I ordered all came in nice Cle-line labeled plastic tubes.

Everyone needs hooks and picks......

Those appear to be gone at that price. Just as well, there's a picture in one of the reviews of my biggest problem with hooks: the metal shanks pulled out of the handle.

Is there a brand / model that DOESN'T do that? Maybe a solid piece through the handle with an integrated mushroom cap to keep it from pulling through?

I even waited until the #7 was out of stock and then they got some new ones in. Still only a single drill. I use #7 for 1/4-20 threads. Oh well.

Mitutoyo QuantuMike 293-185 (0-1") for $127.

This is a weird listing as it doesn't have the part number anywhere, but it is also 40% off... These are great mics, they have the fast spindle.

Make sure to order it from Amazon, not the other sellers.

Doing a search for 'handle' for the reviews on these didn't get any such results. The appear to be sized the same as the GW's smaller set.
you can print all sorts of holders for different brands too:

Been needing a tacho for a while; might pull the trigger on this one. There's several in this price range but seems like the 9V battery models drain them:

Tach's here. Much nicer build quality that I'd expect from a 17$ gadget. Reminds me of mid tier multi-meter. I stuck a square on my screw driver and it "read". I haven't checked against a known rpm motor yet but have no real reason not to trust it. Has hi, lo, and avg memory too. Wish it came w/a case though.

#7 was the only one I had issues with (so far). It took me 4 tries over more than a year to get that one set for my Hoit box. I think I’m down to maybe 6 more sets to fill the box. They are available but I can’t stand the thought of paying normal price to fill a slot as I have two complete sets. These are just spares.

I'd say keep us up to date (as I'm starting to do the same for my vevor boxes) but you're already done
