Seems like a marketing gimmick to get people to sign up for Prime.

Probably. Pretty much a waste of time, I felt as I browsed a while and found zero of interest to me. But, I learned and I won't waste any time next year or whenever this comes around again. And I signed up yesterday for the trial Prime so I am not out anything except that aforementioned waste of time.

Be advised, I did order a few things I was gonna buy anyway, but not because they were lowered-price. When I was checking out, however, two of four items defaulted from free shipping to the next level, adding a few bucks to my total bill. This happened one at a time: I noticed the first one, backed up and changed the shipping to free on that item, then went back to check out. Guess what...another item now turned up with shipping charges attached, just to that one item. These defaults happened when I went to the final purchase page. They had been marked free shipping up to that point. I backed up again, changed it, and made it to the final checkout without it happening a third time. Never had this happen before. My wife became interested and set up a fake purchase of six items. When she went to check out, same thing happened to her on one item. These were "Prime" free-shipping items, or so marked on their individual page. I am not calling scam, but something odd was going on, so beware.

Pretty disappointing overall. Went ahead and ordered some gift cards for the $10 credit cause I buy a ton of **** from Amazon anyway, and 10 bucks is 10 bucks.

Same here. I did it when the deal first popped up and the code did not work. I have a feeling I might have to call Amazon when things slow down and have them remedy that problem. No big deal.

So far I've haven't seen anything I needed or wanted. A lot of random stuff. Cookbooks, clothing, candy, vitamins...etc.

I'm at 1k (just because I bought a camera) so far but I gotta say this whole thing is really underwhelming.

The used/warehouse prices for tools are laughable even with the added 15% off.

I did manage to supposedly get $30 worth of credits (I did separate orders) though don't know when they'll show up on the account.

Best deal for me I think was getting http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007ZQAKHU/?tag=atomicindus08-20 for $27.99

Most everything else on the "sale" are pretty random items and most that are worth buying would sell out within the first 5 mins.

most of their big savings are actually only like 10% off the normal selling price. it may say something like 45% off, but if you look at the 3rd party sellers, it's not the much of a saving.

Lately Amazon has listed ridiculous MSRP prices crossed out with "their selling price" showing a percent off, like they're trying to say most of their inventory is on sale, when it really isn't.

yea this is garbage

Haven't seen a single air tool or milwaukee product. Or any tools worth having for that matter. And the stuff that is onsale is only like 10-25% off the normal price. Hell a lot of stuff is cheaper on ebay than the amazon sale price.

I have to wonder what people were expecting. Their Black Friday deals are usually pretty garbage also and that was apparently their standard for gauging this "deal day".

This is quite pathetic. "Better than Black Friday" my ***.

And I agree on the pricing, how they show "their price" is a load of bull.

Black friday or "Prime Day", they still never have stuff that appeals to me on these sales. But I am far from an impulse buyer as well.

Clearly, they wanted everything they wanted to be 90% off.

People on here go on and on about how cheap bastards have driven all manufacturing overseas, yet they can't buy something unless it is heavily discounted, and Walmart matches the price.

Doorbusters don't work in an online setting either. People are already in the "door", it makes no sense for them to eat the cost on a few items to get people to "line up".

Amazon hasn't sold Milwaukee for a few years now. I'm guessing Home Depot gave them a deal they could no refuse that had an exclusivity clause in it.

Looks like they just posted the $115 40" TV. It's TCL brand, which I've never heard of.

Cancel that, it just sold out.

Has anybody already had the $10 credit from the gift cards show up? I'm wanting to use it on another purchase today. Got the shipping notice for my gift cards, but no credit has appeared yet.

Well I was actually hoping to find something I needed cheaper than it is on ebay by a small margin. Didn't see a single thing I needed or wanted, let alone for a price on par with how much they hyped this up. Hmmm muscle milk, iphone case, galaxy charger, and dish detergent for 10% off I think I'll pass.

Black friday atleast has some decent tool sales.

Yea, Amazon is really bad with the MSRP prices. It's bad when 70% off is what every other retailer is charging.

An earlier post mentioned $20 off $100. I have looked and searched multiple times and I can't find the code. Does anyone know the code?

Thanks,
Steve

I really enjoyed this Prime Day from Amazon, I think it was a great idea and hope they repeat it every year. It is not every day I save hundreds of dollars by buying nothing.

Only thing I ended up buying was another FireTV Stick that I'll be giving to a friend or a coworker.

Honestly, I'd guess amazon doesn't care about their "quality of sales" rep right now since they have X percent more prime members hooked on their service. They might even have just thrown some junk out there today to test the market for future gullibility, I mean future sales.

Don't hate the player... hate the game.

Got the $10 with $45 GC purchase and the exact new car seat that we planned on purchasing anyways in a couple months. Outside of that, this was a bust!

Ouch. I wonder if they met their new prime member sign-up goal with this deal.

Angry Amazon customers vent over sale fail...
And "Teressa" went so far as to say the tweets generated by customers were better than the actual deals.

Amazon #PrimeDay is an #EpicFail...
Granny *******. An extra-long shoehorn. An airplane seatbelt extender. No, these aren't items laid out for a grandma-died, got-a-divorce, getting-rid-of-stuff-you-bought-online-while-drunk-but-definitely-never-needed garage sale down the street. It's Amazon Prime Day. You know, the huge one-day sale the company bragged was going to shame Black Friday. It wasn't. And it didn't (well, unless you were in the market for a TV). Angry Amazon shoppers hit Twitter to call out the #PrimeDay fail.

Got busy today, and only had time to check the sale at lunch. Didn't find anything I wanted for tools/automotive, though.

Thought I missed a great deal on a 2-pack of black Kershaw Leeks, but it looks like there was some confusion and people will only get one knife.

Remember folks, they said MORE deals than BF, not BETTER! :lol_hitti

Not sure if it's related to sale/scam but almost all the the items in my cart went up in price and some things were no longer available that have been for ages. Pissed me off

Total waste of time & absolute ******** / marketing scam!!!
I very seldom shop on amazon, but I thought i'd look into it more....
Almost everything I compared prices on was cheaper on other sites.....
Maybe i'm doing it wrong....but to me it seemed like a crock of **** & just a way to sucker people into (eventually) paying the 99 bucks for "Prime" (which is also a joke)!!

Generac 6602 OneWash 4-In-1 PowerDial 3,100 PSI 2.8 GPM 212cc OHV Gas Powered Residential Pressure Washer
$100 off...

I got that on Black Friday last year and it's an awesome washer for the money. Only issue was the wires were detached off the on switch out of the box and I spent 10 minutes getting it going. Since then, it starts on first pull and is plenty strong for everything I've done with it. Wash jeeps, windows, and driveway.

Amazon is getting some bad PR for prime day. I get you can't sell tons of the good stuff like tools and electronics. It just seemed like most of the stuff was just not interesting.
