Not stupid, more so ignorant, there is a difference. I think they are just spelling it how they have heard it pronounced. Not many non technical folks know the term radial, so radio seems much more fitting.

Another one that you see commonly misspelled, like way off, is acetylene. It kinda sounds like A settling torch to some and so that is how they spell it out.

I've seen so many of those, it's unsettling. Also plenty of sawzaws & radio arm saws here, and more "labtops" than I can count in the computer section.

My son took a picture of a body shop outdoor sign that actually said, "We ficks dents". Holy Mother of God I'd have to strangle that guy.

And inevitably, someone will chime in and say it doesn't matter if you understood the message. Of course that's a cover for their own borderline illiteracy, but I'm an AHole for saying such a thing.

I once had a boss that used 'irregardless' during a staff meeting. Apparently I shook my head when I heard it and he asked what was wrong. When I simply told him that it was not a proper word, he got VERY pissed. He was a narcissist and did not like being challenged. It was about the 5th or 6th time that I corrected him about something. He didn't like me.

Twerk, selfie, FOMO, and derp were recently added to the Oxford English dictionary, but I will never deem them proper words for use. Just because it's in a dictionary doesn't mean people will think you are an educated person for using them "because they're in the dictionary."
