I wish Grip-On would enter the "regular" pliers arena.
They'd teach the Germans a thing or three.

Of
Knipex are great.
Love the 86 05 180 model and slim cobras 87 51 250

the Knpex plier wrenches have a nice smooth flat gripping surface so there's no "scratching" or damaging of the nut / part being worked on.
Love the ratcheting effect.
Seems that companies are buying knipex and putting their name on them or copying their engineering.

Mac tools has done so with their 12" plier wrench.
at $110.99
http://www.mactools.com/en-us/Plier...0d317d2/Plier-Wrenches/P12WR/Pliers-Wrench-12

I'd rather just buy direct from a Knipex dealer.

If I'm not mistaken, the plier wrenches have a 10:1 compression ratio.

The plierwrench is one of the greatest tools ever.

i second that. those are probably my fav tool. good for bending, pressing spring lock pins, gripping flat/parallel surfaces, squeezing metal flat after you fix it till its f***ed, and of corse any square or hex fastener. will never strip a square or hex. ohh also work good as a hammer since they are fairly heavy. and to answer OP they are me fav knipex. second are the cobra. whenever i go to do a small repair that i havent investigated (someone says "this" isnt working) those two tools are the first thing i grab.

Added the 12" Plier Wrench , Knipex Pliers and Knipex 6 in 1 Pliers

i was really disappointed with those 6 in one. the flat tip long nose are awesome. especially for removing metal slivers or small pieces of wire wheel from your hands or clothes. strippers work well. but the crimper is way to far away from the fulcrum point. ive since got these and i LOVE THEM. i love knipex. but these are 10x better in every way.

I just got the Knipex Cobra XXL 87-01-560 today, here it is with its smaller siblings: 86-03-250 pliers wrench 10", Craftsman labeled 10" Cobras #45430, and 10" diagonal cutters 74-01-250.

Missing is 8" mini bolt cutters 71-01-200, which are in work box.

I do appreciate Knipex as well.
I have a set of the Cobra "water pump" push button lock pliers in my roll cart along with flush cuts and needle nose. And the best part is my Snap-On guy will warranty any of them.

The Cornwell and Mac guy will only do it if they have their name brand "etched" on them along with the Knipex name.

I just bought the dipped-grip 10" dikes that will go in my bag for my use. I have a 'sacrificial' pair of Crescent compound dikes for my belt (and if someone needs to borrow them).

Just for the benefit of the newbies and because I have nothing else to add, you guys know that it is pronounced kinipeks, right? All the vowels have the short sound, kin like family, i as in is and peks like your peck muscles.

What I hate is how Knipex is divided between Euro and USA markets. There are tools sold in Europe not available for the USA market. And then there is the ugly Blue and Red comfort handles.

I feel really dumb because I too find the red and blue comfort handle to be so ugly that I've avoided buying any of them, even though in some of the models, it would be better than the standard thin red-orange handle. I just can't get over how ugly the red/blue combination is, and it makes me feel silly because aesthetics shouldn't matter.

I've actually thought about buying the VDE insulated versions of some tools that I want thicker handles on, because the red-orange and yellow actually looks okay. Or the solid red-orange versions. But red/blue is

My little collection:

I prefer the Knipex to the NWS, I feel much more comfortable in my hand, especially the red handle, the comfort handle is not comfortable for me.

I also have Wiha isolated, and that Gedore blue mango, the truth that also feel very good in the hand.

They're fine, but as a collective group, I wouldn't say love. I LOVE my mini bolt cutters, those are fantastic! I really like my cable cutters, and I am take it or leave it on my Craftsman Cobras (made by Knipex). The linesman and diagonal cutters...I have others I like and use more. They were purchased cheap, so no real harm, but I wouldn't buy them again when compared to others I have. I'll keep my old Utica linesman which I was hoping the Knipex would replace. I like the grips better. Could try to plasti dip the Uticas but...not really worth the effort.

Whilst helping my mom stock up on some basic tools due to the fact I am tired of using the misc junk she has when she randomly asks me to complete projects at her house, I noted the Menards has a good variety of basic Knipex tools. Looks like I know what to ask for XMAS!!

You’re gonna wait almost a year to get a few new Knipex? I’d buy a new one every month from now until Xmas......

I love the cobras, I keep a pair of the 125mm ones in my pocket at work and have most of the other sizes in my toolbox.

I’ve been using them for about 6 years now and they have pretty much made my visegrips and stillson redundant. I’m still surprised somedays by how well they grip and have lost count of the times visegrips have failed but the cobras have succeeded.

I’d like to get more Knipex but I’ve already got a lot of Snap On and Facom pliers so can’t really justify buying more pliers

haha....money goes soooooo many other places I almost feel guilty looking at a $50 pliers. I need to get a new tool box first as I am filled to the brim right now. But now that I know Menards has them, next time I go for garbage bags, I will come out with a $100 bill plus another $50 for Knipex. ;)

I don't even know if they existed back then. That was my introduction to Knipex

I have a couple of the pliers wrench, diagonals, cobras, and needlenose w/wirestripper. I use them all quite a bit. Excellant tools. I also have the bigger and smaller linesman pliers which I just never use. I bought some of the different Wiha pliers (bent nose, flat non marring and the ones for jewelry). They are pretty awesome and weren't too pricey.

I never leave home without them, my cobra 7s or my 10 inch comfort grips are in my pocket 100% of the time at work, I was a dedicated blue handle man before my boss turned me on to these, I still love my 440s regardless however

Not sure yet what else I'm going to buy, but I've become a fan of Knipex lately. The Cobra pliers on the left I've had for few years and added the others over time.

I do want to pick up a pair of their pliers wrench. That's definitely my next purchase.

I bought a pair of these for my basement finishing project. They have been great. Very robust. I twisted a bunch of steel wire for suspended ceiling grid and also used them extensively doing the wiring. I'm seriously considering the smaller version also.
