These are beefy, I use them on automotive.Do you really want to use Chinese no-name lugs on a high current circuit?
I'd say no, they aren't rated
Is there a suitable crimp terminal for stranded romex? They are for finely stranded wire. Not romex
Yes, stuff like this. They require hydraulic crimpersIs there a suitable crimp terminal for stranded romex?
Thank you very much. A lug like that will work perfectly.Yes, stuff like this. They require hydraulic crimpers

What is your application?
Something like this may be more practical
odd fuse panel in building wiring to need a ring terminal. have a pic?I need it for an old fuse panel.
The old sub panel lug was corroded, and I am unable to remove the set screw from it. I was going to remove it, drill the rivet out of the bus bar, and replace it with a bolt and lug.odd fuse panel in building wiring to need a ring terminal. have a pic?
I know you guys will frown at it, but at this point it is all that can be done.
Is this a new circuit that you are adding to the sub?The old sub panel lug was corroded, and I am unable to remove the set screw from it. I was going to remove it, drill the rivet out of the bus bar, and replace it with a bolt and lug.

It isn't a sub, and our power company said it would be after the first of the year before a disconnect/reconnect could be done. You could replace it

Especially being a sub, replacement should not be super difficult, and if one lug is corroded, I'd imagine other stuff is corroded/worn out too
A small sub is not expensive
The wiring from the "where the weather head should be" to the fuse panel worries me worse than the fuse panel. Can the meter be pulled to replace the panel now? Finish the rest in conjunction with the d/r.
OK, but that's not the question......The wiring from the "where the weather head should be" to the fuse panel worries me worse than the fuse panel.

Look man, I never said sub. I said sub panel lug----the lug that feeds the sub panel off of the main panel. You said it was a sub....
Half-assing a fix likely isn't any better then what you currently have going on
Man, honestly the less we touch at this point the better off we are....OK, but that's not the question......
I hear you. Can't always rip it out and start fresh and it sounds like you know what needs to eventually happen. Just be careful to not let temporary become the new permanentMan, honestly the less we touch at this point the better off we are....
I am afraid to touch the wire going in and coming out. it is cloth covered and half rotten. The more that it is moved/messed with the worse it is going to make it.
I am going to feed a breaker off of the sub panel lugs/bus bar and move on until we can completely redo it all.
It is all coming out soon as possible.I hear you. Can't always rip it out and start fresh and it sounds like you know what needs to eventually happen. Just be careful to not let temporary become the new permanent
That is crazy that it takes that long to schedule a disconnect/reconnect. I guess there are benefits of being a member of a 170,000 member CO-OP. I recall it was a week or so out to disconnect/reconnect power. They would have no problem doing the disconnect almost immediately for a situation that can't wait. I ran several hours past my scheduled reconnect time, but they said just call the power outage line, and they would send the night shift crew over to reconnect. It isn't a sub, and our power company said it would be after the first of the year before a disconnect/reconnect could be done.
Gail, 6 ga NM as stranded is pretty common these days. Typically anything 8 ga and larger is likely to be stranded.Romex Branded cable 6 AWG Stranded is a "new one" on me.
I don't think you can get 8 in solid.Gail, 6 ga NM is stranded is pretty common these days. Typically anything 8 ga and larger is likely to be stranded.
MUCH easier to work with!Gail, 6 ga NM is stranded is pretty common these days. Typically anything 8 ga and larger is likely to be stranded.
I put in a request on 11/3 for disconnect to install a generator, and it is supposed to happen this Thursday on 12/4.That is crazy that it takes that long to schedule a disconnect/reconnect. If you're disconnected on 12/4, why not prioritize the panel swap?I put in a request on 11/3 for disconnect to install a generator, and it is supposed to happen this Thursday on 12/4.
It's not for the same person. If you're disconnected on 12/4, why not prioritize the panel swap?

yeah dont do that. thats just asking for a fire... youve modified it beyond the design...The old sub panel lug was corroded, and I am unable to remove the set screw from it. I was going to remove it, drill the rivet out of the bus bar, and replace it with a bolt and lug.

Romex larger than #10 has been stranded for decades. solid #6 conductors in NM would be impossible to handle and bend inside a wall.Romex Branded cable 6 AWG Stranded is a "new one" on me.
I'm replacing a lug, with a lug....an actual UL Lug...yeah dont do that. thats just asking for a fire... youve modified it beyond the design...
